OR are just amused by American politics?

I find this a strange question. I'm a mum and very interested in politics, including American politics. I was interested in politics before becoming a mum and that hasn't changed.
Of course millions of people (including mums, child free women, dads, child free men) have no interest in politics. I'm not sure why you single out mums?

Not singling out anyone. This forum is called Mumsnet not Dadsnet, so the question was for a specific audience.

You’re wrong and sexist - many are interested in US politics.

Men in conversation: sports and politics.
Mums in conversations: kids and gossip.

Maybe you mix with the wrong type of people. Most people I know talk about a whole range of topics, and their gender doesn't define it. Our gender or sex doesn't represent our interests!

ramblingfool · 24/07/2024 17:26

Men don't do the IMPORTANT thinking, that is why they think of politics so much.

Why American politics in particular? Why not all politics or whatever?

hippopotty · 24/07/2024 17:27

How many men really know what they're talking about? Or are just amused by their own ego?

So the IMPORTANT thinking is gossip?

Fullyflavoured · 24/07/2024 17:27

MN is full of stupid threads atm.

Some take a quizzical look at some of the threads on here, others take them very seriously. I guess those who take them very seriously think they are "stupid."

Summer holidays. Reads like a 15 year old.

A) I was being ironic and
B) you've just undermined your own thread.

Do you not have a golf course to be on or something?

Don't be so surly, sheesh ;)

Just doing what it says on the tin. <<slow handclaps increasingly banal thread>>

surlycurly · 24/07/2024 17:23

If I don't have a man to do all the important thinking for me, am I allowed to be interested in American politics? Just asking...

You’ll strain your silly little lady brain and bring on hysteria. Best to just watch Loose Women and rock back and forth.

Coughsweet · 24/07/2024 17:32

Awww, I love twattery on MN. All part of life’s tapestry.

hippopotty · 24/07/2024 17:33

I know social media is a waste of time but this thread really does it

CitrineRaindropPhoenix · 24/07/2024 17:33

Well at least the op's user name is accurate.

The wrong kind of people? FFS!

twomanyfrogsinabox · 24/07/2024 17:35

Why not just start a thread on US politics and see if anyone knows anything about it, you might be surprised.

GonnaeNoDaeThatJustGonnaeNo · 24/07/2024 17:36

Lazy trolling stereotyping klaxon alert

Blisterly · 24/07/2024 17:37

I think you are right. I used to be very interested in politics and sports, then my husband impregnated me and once I had my child, literally as soon I gave birth, I put down the politics section of the paper and picked up Hello magazine. Maybe the act of giving birth releases all the politics and sports hormones?

You are right, I should never have labeled men as only interested in sports and politics.
