Who would you vote for in the next general election?

Curious to know how many people would still vote Tory if Liz lands the job. I would think she will lose them the next election..?
Maybe Rishi will run as an independent candidate?

How would you vote in the next General Election? And why?

I'm a floating voter, although, more likely to vote Tory. At the moment I have an impending sense of doom and said to DH earlier I really hope Liz Trust proves me wrong. He doesn't tend to get angry or frustrated, but just snapped at me that we really don't need her. LibDem have no presence for me and I have my doubts about labour. I joked recently my DD would make a good politician, but she said she'd be too far left for my liking - I think I'd trust her more though.

bellinisurge · 05/09/2022 08:39

No one. If Labour are unable to answer what a man is and are unable to protect women's rights, how can I trust them with other stuff. My local Labour MP is on the wrong side of a local environmental debate - wants to support building on greenbelt.
It's a safe Labour seat so my vote/or lack of is pretty fucking worthless anyway.

I'm in Wales so either Plaid or Conservative. Labour have had over 20 years to make a change in Wales and things just keep getting worse not better. And before someone says that they can only do so much with what they are given maybe look at how they are spending it, free prescriptions for all so we are paying a ridiculous amount of money for drugs like paracetamol that can be brought for under a pound in any supermarket. On the face of it free prescriptions in Wales sounds good but tell that to someone who's been in A&E for over 12 hours because they've closed so many emergency departments. There's plenty more examples of how money is wasted in Wales but I'd be here until the next election if I listed them all.

I couldn’t have put it better myself. The NHS in Wales is a shambles. I didn’t realise how bad it was until my DH had to use a & E in England and saw how much better it was than in Wales. Labour have ruined Wales and turned me in to a Tory.

bellinisurge · 05/09/2022 08:45

Until Corbyn, I'd been a Labour voter since the late 80s. I want to vote Labour again. I really do. But if I can't trust them on basic biology and its implications for women's sex based rights , they can't be trusted to run the country.

Joystir59 · 05/09/2022 08:45

Whoet will get the Tories out. Labour in my area.

carefullycourageous · 05/09/2022 08:46

ABC = anyone but Conservative

ThisIsNotAFlyingToy · 05/09/2022 08:47

Tactically anti-Tory

Joystir59 · 05/09/2022 08:47

So you genuinely think women and children will fare better under the Tories just because Boris was able to define what a woman is in the right wing media? Wake up!

Ostryga · 05/09/2022 08:47

Labour. We’ve just got a new young candidate and I’m really impressed with her so far. I’m really hoping she’s going to get rid of our vile, vile Tory MP.

bellinisurge · 05/09/2022 09:06

@Joystir59 , of course I understand that the Tories are shit for everyone and that women and children will particularly suffer under their continued economic mismanagement.
But a bloke in a dress with girly feelings is not a woman and my sex based rights are important to me.
If I lose my sex based rights to anyone who feels like a woman, I'm screwed as well.

I honestly don't know anymore... I'm not loyal to any party. I usually vote for the best candidate/party at the time, but now I'm stumped. I don't think Keir is a strong enough opponent and Labour haven't put up enough of a fight. I Iiked the Lib Dems previously, but since Nick Clegg they appear to have vanished without trace... I could never vote Green. The country is an absolute mess. I could have got behind Rishi, I think - but Truss seems like a wet flannel, and I really worry how everything will pan out. She doesn't inspire me with any confidence...

tedgran · 05/09/2022 19:27

Live in a constituency which always returns a Lib dem member, won't vote for them as they don't know what a woman is, Labour are the same re women and I won't vote Tory so disenfranchised.

whatshouldIdo2022 · 05/09/2022 19:41

I moved to South Wales from South East England earlier this year and have found the NHS great so far by comparison, I can actually get a GP appointment in a timely fashion and the Dr I spoke to actually discussed a treatment plan and next steps/follow up which I have never had where I used to live, just fobbed off and made to feel a nuisance for anything that wasn't visibly and immediately life threatening. Have also used A&E twice and haven't found it any worse than the SE. Of course this might just be indicative of the overcrowded area I've moved from with lack of infrastructure. In answer to the question, I would vote Labour probably or anyone but Cons.

WonkotheWonderDog · 05/09/2022 19:45

Another vote for Larry the Cat !

Tryingthisonefornow · 05/09/2022 19:51

I'll stick with SNP all the way

AgnestaVipers · 05/09/2022 19:53

If Labour agree to no self ID, I'll vote for them. Not holding my breath though.

MonsterKidz · 05/09/2022 19:57

SNP

Not my cup of tea but anyone notice the SDP never actually went away, they seem to be trying to stage a comeback…en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Social_Democratic_Party_(UK,_1990–present)

They bear no relation to Shirley Williams's party though. But using the name stops an actual social democratic party using it.

Bobbins36 · 07/09/2022 07:14

@ThisIsNotAFlyingToy sneaky..an actual social democrat to vote for would be nice 😩

Interesting all the comments about NHS in wales - my brother has just moved to Cardiff and has had a really good experience there finding a GP and getting some complicated treatment sorted out with several different services.

Agree with a pp here that women & children will be worse under a Tory government than labour - the identification rubbish is just a PR thing. X

I'd always vote for an independent candidate first and foremost, after that Mebyon Kernow. I've always lent towards the right before, but lost faith in all of the major parties. National political parties a like cults, and their MP's just blindly toe the partly line instead of representing their constituents. They're only in it for their own gain, and policies are too London centric - it's like westminster can't see beyond the M25.

I'm Welsh.

GP level care is generally good. It's when you start to need hospital and outpatient appointments the cogs start turning very slowly (with the exception of cancer diagnosis and treatment)

And community mental health care is virtually non existent! They are showing. They gave my friend a leaflet when she was suicidal as they couldn't do much more due to waiting times. She nearly died from a overdose 2 weeks after they visited. There are so many stories like hers surrounding CMHT.

Maternity care is hit or miss dependant on area, a and e waiting times can be huge, and ambulance arrival times to an emergency even worse.

Staffing is a nightmare, constantly short staffed, hospital budgets are slashed annually.

Quality of care in hospital is also poor.

But yeah other than that all good. 🤣

pompomdaisy · 13/09/2022 02:20

I will vote tactily to get rid of the Tories.

Cheekymaw · 13/09/2022 02:33

Despite the fact Labour hate women and the working class , I will vote for them again. The Tories hate everyone except the very wealthy and are unelectable. They seem determined to bring the country to it's knees and I fear for the vulnerable, elderly, disabled and young this winter .
