Cressida Dick has resigned, does anyone think this is part of Boris's downfall?

Regardless of what you think of Cressida Dicks, the decision on who gets to be the next Head of the Met Police will be taken by the Home Secretary (Priti Patel) who in turn reports directly to the Prime Minister (Boris Johnson).

I would say it has worked out conveniently well for Boris considering the ongoing Met Police investigation.

I can't believe that Khan was acting as agent of Boris for either the action or the timing

RedToothBrush · 11/02/2022 10:13

Both Khan and Johnson need her to go for no other reason other than she's become a fucking liability.

Absolutely I agree with you. Khan wanted Dick to go for his own reasons but as a side effect this has turned out quite well for Teflon Boris.

It means the Home Secretary - a minister loyal to Johnson - will be part of choosing the head of a police force that is currently investigating her party and Prime Minister.

Whatever the party and whatever the truth, it is a farce when someone has influence in choosing the police chief responsible for investigating their own alleged criminal activity.

ButterMe. Well said - this is what corruption looks like.

@fablett

Well *@Wrongkindofovercoat*

She was in operational charge when the met shot John Charles de Menezes.

And over saw the culture where Sarah Everard was murdered by a police man that other police knew was a flasher, officers took photos and made jokes about the murdered women Biba Henry and Nicole Smallman, and the Charing Cross police team made jokes about hitting women and murdering black children.

She oversaw the brutal policing of the Sarah Everard vigil.

She made an absolute shambles of party gate.

Things like that really

No dispute that these are awful events and changes need to be made but how many thousand thousand good results were there by the MET in the 40 years she was part of it -

well we'll never know because nothing good gets in the news these days only the clickbait bad stuff - shame that people can't take that into consideration - so we'll get a new bloke at the top I'm sure everything will run perfectly

She got a Damehood for the good bits. She was fired for the shit bits. There were loads of them.
