If Labour were to come into power tomorrow, what is it people think they would do better?

Not what Labour governments of the past have done.. I mean Labour 2022. What would be new/better?

Fuck all.

MissAmbrosia · 05/02/2022 19:38

Wealth taxes. Removal of VAT on energy. Not being fucking corrupt.

TracyMosby · 05/02/2022 19:39

Are you saying you think bj is doing a good job? He is trustworthy? He isnt an embarrassment? We arent an embarrassment for allowing this shit show to continue?

At this stage id vote for the tellytubbies over the corruption that is the tory party and i dont even care if they do any better. It will be absolutely better just not having BJ and his self-serving crew in power.

MissAmbrosia · 05/02/2022 19:39

I'm agog that people can look at the current shower of shite and think Labour would be worse. I am happy to give them a go.

mum2jakie · 05/02/2022 19:43

Couldn't do much worse than the current self serving lying bunch of fools in government, surely?

InCahootswithOrwell · 05/02/2022 19:50

There’s be much better protection for households and businesses against rising energy prices and lower fuel bills for a start.
They almost certainly wouldn’t break the ministerial code on a weekly basis.
They wouldn’t lie to parliament on an almost weekly basis
Less corruption - I’d imagine that fewer deals to mates would be red flagged against international standards to protect corruption
There’s be less Russian interference in U.K. government
They probably wouldn’t have illegally prorogued parliament
They wouldn’t be restricting access to voting
They wouldn’t be chipping away at the foundations of U.K. democracy using statutory instruments in bills

There’s probably more, but that seems like enough to start with.

OP asked what they "would" do, not what they "could" or "should" do!

Not at all. I'm asking what Labour would bring to the table..

IpanemaPeaHen · 05/02/2022 20:29

Well there wouldn’t be the NI rise for a start.

feellikeanalien · 05/02/2022 20:31

Don't know because I've no idea what their policies are except that they don't know what women are.

WallaceinAnderland · 05/02/2022 20:32

I don't know. That shows how good their opposition is.

FourTeaFallOut · 05/02/2022 20:33

VAT on energy wouldn't touch the sides. It's 5%, the cap is going up 54% in April and a probable 20% in October.

Veryverycalmnow · 05/02/2022 20:35

This

Not a fan of Keir Starmer at all but GETTING THE TORIES OUT should surely be a priority for people by now- they've shown who they care about and it's not us! Unless any millionaires/ billionaires are hanging around on here.

3cats4poniesandababy · 05/02/2022 20:37

This is what concerns me about labour. I have no idea of their policies- they only ever comment after an event/policy goes wrong and say "we wouldn't have done that' but never tell me what should have been done and only comment with hindsight. It is all locking the door after the horse has bolted.

I am a strong Conservative voter but would be swayed at the moment if I could see a promising alternative. Unfortunately the opposition is weak and that is neither good for Labour themselves or for the population of the UK.

Mundra · 05/02/2022 20:39

Increased tax and increased borrowing.

Zonder · 05/02/2022 20:42

Labour under KS would bring a bit of honesty and integrity. And compassion for the poor.

EngTech · 05/02/2022 20:43

All depends on what their policies are?

That is assuming I knew what they actually were 😳😳😳

IpanemaPeaHen · 05/02/2022 20:44

Yet Sunak is raising taxes isn’t he not labour.

Emanchego · 05/02/2022 20:46

Labour not corrupt 🤣

Ladywoodster · 05/02/2022 20:55

Whatever they do or don't do, I would feel heartened that the population had seen through and rejected all that has happened over the last 2/3 years. I might have some respect for my fellow countrymen again. Something to be optimistic about, that's what I want. I still remember she sheer joy and disbelief of booting the Tories out '97 - and they were hated just as much as this government - a fresh start, a different way.

TracyMosby · 05/02/2022 21:41

@Mundra

Increased tax and increased borrowing.
Do you ever switch on the news? Hmm
Mundra · 05/02/2022 21:43

Meaning?

TracyMosby · 05/02/2022 21:50

i mean, for those of you above who simply have no idea what labour party policies are, did you try googling ‘labour party policies’?

id vote for Larry the cat before the tories.

TracyMosby · 05/02/2022 21:50

@Mundra

Meaning?
Are you kidding? Seriously?
Mundra · 05/02/2022 21:52

No. I am trying to work out what you're implying, because I'm not certain.
