It's always winter in Cummings-world (but never christmas..)

mmmm that makes me think of Turkish Delight

Does he hand out boxes of Turkish Delight to journalists?

SingingLily · 03/02/2020 22:52

So you would have liked them to hold the tories to account more SilverySurfer? Good for you, though i'd have to say you're in a minority of Brexiters

I know you are on these threads a lot, but do you actually read what we post?

There's any number of us who have been saying for ages on here that the foundations of our democracy rest on there being an effective opposition, that we wish there was a credible government-in-waiting to hold the government to account, that it's in no one's interest to have an ineffectual opposition, that none of us benefit from Jezza's ineptitude as LOTO regardless of our political persuasions, and so on and so on and so forth and ad infinitum.

As veteran MNers might say, RTT.

I'm being polite, of course. Grin

MarySidney · 03/02/2020 22:52

Walkingdeadfangirl Great minds....

DustyDiamond · 03/02/2020 22:52

Mass huff that cozy little arrangements with 'sources' who leak like a sieve are being curtailed

Noses are well out of joint

SingingLily · 03/02/2020 22:55

Can ClassicDom sort out some winter salad?

He's on it already...

Sometimes, though I confess it all becomes a tad repetitive - def heard that stuff about a credible opposition being trotted out by all regular brexiters here. It doesn't hold any weight when it's accompanied by endless bilge attacking any non-tory politician in every way possible while slavishly accepting everything the tories do, no matter how reprehensible (see above)

People say this stuff, it's easy to say, but I don't believe for a second that they mean it.

SilverySurfer · 03/02/2020 23:00

Totally agree with both your posts Copper

Yes I would Arse I firmly believe the country is best served by having an effective opposition. I don't believe I'm alone in thinking that. How could it possibly be undemocratic?

I haven't read the comments by Paul Waugh so cannot comment on them. I will have a read tomorrow if I can.

Keep feeding that narrative..

ommmward · 03/02/2020 23:02

What variety of winter lettuce do you grow, Copper?

(Yes, that's the take home message for me from the last half hour...)

I'm really not sure about public briefings only for selected members of the press, whether that's the lobby (about whom I have only been learning very recently) or a hand picked group that doesn't involve anyone from the mirror (for example).

I DO appreciate the frustration from downing Street about the toxicity of coverage over the last six months, from their point of view. You only have to glance at the bits of YouTube preserving brexit night coverage (,which mostly seemed to be portrayed as a night of national mourning with Ann widdecombe popping up every so often) as indicative of that. But selective briefings doesn't seem like the best answer to it, does it?

Walkingdeadfangirl · 03/02/2020 23:03

lol Lily, ClassicDom is on it just like Anneka Rice reincarnated

Le sigh

I'll learn...

Oh I know the feeling. When someone posts the same old same old all the time and lacks imagination, wit, common sense, even a grasp of basic facts.

As I said earlier - in an affectionate way, of course - that's why every thread needs an Arse. Smile

hospitalityinspector · 03/02/2020 23:04

Parker Your daughter must be thrilled! What a prestigious offer. I was watching proceedings last week and noticed a translator beavering away during a speech. I guess the job is becoming more tech based all the time?

I honestly thought that all sides would be happy that the press is being sorted out. All the major agencies were represented. I'm sure the hangers on are used to being turned away from uninvited situations all the time. It just suits their agenda to make a song and dance when it's no 10.

Remember Corbyn telling those journalists jostling for his attention in a car park during the campaign? He told them they wouldn't be allowed to behave like that under a marxist government. Shock

Arseaboutdarkly · 03/02/2020 23:06

Nothing i've seen of your posts bears that out, but perhaps I will try to read more attentively, if I can.

SingingLily · 03/02/2020 23:06

GrinWalking

What we really need to take our mind off all the dreary repetition is a meme of PhwoarDom standing purposefully in front of a Chinook.

SilverySurfer · 03/02/2020 23:07

If you don't believe it don't bother to read my post. What a joke saying that the Tories attack Labour, all you ever do on here is attack the Tories.

I shan't respond to your posts again, complete waste of my time if you can't be bothered to read them. You are apparently incapable of having a civilized conversation with anyone with an alternative viewpoint. I feel sorry for you.

Just watched the Boris speech. He really is funny, likeable, intelligent and spelled out a great way forward with the EU. Quite proud to have him leading our country. Its so obvious why he won by such a landslide.

Coppersulphate · 03/02/2020 23:22

Omm,
I grow a mixture in a heated greenhouse. But I am more or less self sufficient in vegetables and salad.

Please Dusty, PhwoarDom near a chinook?

Well at least we can't complain that politics is boring. I was worried that it would be after last Friday.
Nightcap please LL

Night all

He exudes optimism and hope and a can-do attitude, Walking.

My DSis met him once and she said he is very very charming in real life. She's not easily won over but she was quite taken with him.

Coppersulphate · 03/02/2020 23:24

Walking, did you hear Boris say the bit about exports to America....we sent Nigel Farage to America.....but he came back!
He is good at ad libbing
😂😂😂😂😂
