But your disabled child can work for less than minimum wage because it's 'therapeutic' apparently. Angry

Tory Manifesto sets out plan to reduce spending on Learning Disabilities and Autism to £0 by 2023

Are these figures direct from the manifesto?

So angry with the Tories - and those who vote for them - already, this is just another blow on top of many.

I see they're happy to spend £14million on unnecessary voter ID though. But we all know why that is - to make it more likely the Tories get in.

Imonlydoingwhatican · 07/12/2019 10:30

Unfortunatly it doesnt suprise me.

Moomin8 · 07/12/2019 10:37

Yes direct from the manifesto.

People carry on voting for them because disability is something that happens to other people, never them Angry

Surely it's illegal?

Ineedanamechange79 · 07/12/2019 10:40

Ffs this is additional on top of what was originally in the manifesto. 74 million over 3 years.

Symptomless · 07/12/2019 10:45

It'll be one of the reasons so many will be voting for tories on the 12th.

MrsMaiselsMuff · 07/12/2019 10:49

I know disabled people that will vote for them, because "bwexit". Because apparently it was the EU's fault that they had their DLA stopped and they're stuck on endless waiting lists for NHS treatment.

But... Blue passport...

MrsMaiselsMuff · 07/12/2019 10:51

@Ineedanamechange79 What happens to disabled people in 2024? Have we all been declared fit and able before then?

Ineedanamechange79 · 07/12/2019 10:54

It is additional funding on top of what is already in the manifesto. The total funding is not reducing to nothing. This is completely misleading.

catanddogmake6 · 07/12/2019 10:58

You have read the table incorrectly. It does not set out total spending by any means. It sets out additional spending on top of the current budget. What it is saying is that there will be an extra additional amounts for three years which stop in the fourth year. Which bottom line is better than it currently is. Arguing on incorrect facts doesn’t help. Your argument is that is should be more (and it should) but saying they want to take away all funding makes it easier to discredit such arguments.

Moomin8 · 07/12/2019 11:01

The additional spending is £0 which means they are essentially planning to stop making provision for an increasing number of people with an autism diagnosis. It's not misleading at all...

OP posts:
Moomin8 · 07/12/2019 11:11

I've just looked into this further and it is not additional funding because currently such a 'pot' doesn't exist at all...

OP posts:
Ineedanamechange79 · 07/12/2019 11:19

Do you have a source for that information? Also what are the other parties proposing budget wise for the same purpose?

Also this is only committed spending, there is always additional spending allocated in any budget.

Moomin8 · 07/12/2019 11:40

Do you have a source for that information?

Yes. It is directly from their costings document on their manifesto page.

So a government commits to spend £0 on provision for autistic people and people with learning difficulties. And that's ok because they could always change their mind? How depressing to see an attitude so dismissive of vulnerable people.

My nearly 18 year old daughter is severely autistic and is doing brilliantly in a fantastic provision. She won some awards from our council even though she's in an out of county provision. No doubt the Conservatives don't give a stuff about her or anyone like her.

All this in addition to this sort of thing.

It really does not take a genius to see that the Tories despise disabled people.

Please get your facts right before posting lies

@Weescot - not lies at all.

It's directly from their manifesto.

Or the money hasn't been committed yet because of some other change?

cdtaylornats · 07/12/2019 16:49

Page 15 of the Labour manifest - you will be joining a union
We will support energy workers
through transition and guarantee them
retraining and a new, unionised job on
equivalent terms and conditions.

page 16 - run by workers = back to the 60s
utilities
won’t be run from Whitehall but by
service-users and workers

No more choice in energy you'll get what you are given by the unions
The supply arms of the Big Six energy
companies will be brought into public
ownership where they will continue to
supply households with energy while
helping them to reduce their
energy demands.

Do the Labour party intend to kill off devolved government

Agricultural Wages Board in England
so every part of the UK is covered

That's just a few crazy things. If you vote Labour you are killing the future.

Moomin8 · 07/12/2019 23:15

Or the money hasn't been committed yet because of some other change?

What a cop out. Well personally, I don't think Labour could do anything worse than the sheer pain and misery that the Tories have already inflicted on vulnerable people over the last 10 years.

What we need is a centre-left coalition. And more money spent on public services instead of borrowing and giving it to the fat cats.

OP posts:
CharlottesPleb · 08/12/2019 02:24

The table sets out and totals the commitments they have made since the election was called and in their manifesto. It doesn't represent or have anything to do with a reduction in spending.

Can you not read? Or do you assume the rest of us cannot, or will not read?

Moomin8 · 08/12/2019 11:21

Can you not read? Or do you assume the rest of us cannot, or will not read?

So rude.

Currently there is no such pot. You can't give additional funds to one that doesn't exist.

OP posts:
Moomin8 · 08/12/2019 11:27

And no, you apparently cannot read. Since the spending commitments are £24 million to be reduced to £0 by the year 2023/4.

If you had a disabled child perhaps you'd be concerned about this but obviously, you're alright Jack.
