I must admit I read about yet another blooper by Ms D Abbott about 16 being young enough to die in the army, but not to vote, and yet some papers mention it and some don't. This is a position of importance that is her job, how can she keep making these mistakes.
Yet Jeremy Hunt is allowed to tell blatant lies and that's barely reported? What is worse, a genuine error or an out and out liar?
If you're not aware, he repeatedly stated there are 30,000 more mental health professionals in the NHS than in 2010. The real figure is less than a thousand (and the number of MH murses has decreased), at a time when demand for services has risen exponentially. Then there's the claim that the UK has had the biggest expansion in Europe under his watch, another blatant lie, the number of MH beds has reduced by a few thousand and waiting lists are through the roof.
Then there's May (and Hammond) and their 8p breakfasts. And we won't get started on Boris.
My point being, the media places a lot of focus on trivial mistakes made by Abbott, but is happy to gloss over far more fundamental mistakes and lies from members of the cabinet. Why are they not being held to account in the same way?
