What a shambles - the worst possible outcome.

Right, looks as if we have a government which cannot govern. The most incompetent leader in the history of the Labour Party in opposition who will probably be propped up by the SNP who wants to break up the UK. Then if Mrs. may does resign there is the possibility of that dangerous loose cannon and egotistical idiot Boris Johnson being voted in. For those voters who somehow seem to be considering that this is some kind of a coalition, forget it. Coalitions work together and hung parliaments like this will hang us all.

THE PEOPLE HAVE SPOKEN.

oldbirdy · 09/06/2017 07:05

As Sinn Fein have more seats this time, which they won't take up, I believe from my calculations they need 322 to have a working majority which they get if they work with DUP.

EnglandKeepMyBones · 09/06/2017 07:06

I am absolutely ecstatic.

BarchesterFlowers · 09/06/2017 07:07

I know Stealth, hard to read isn't it (Indy article not the election outcome).

MoominFlaps · 09/06/2017 07:08

The public does not agree with you that Corbyn is an incompetent leader OP.

BarchesterFlowers · 09/06/2017 07:08

So am I England. I sent DH a msg (he was working downstairs) when I woke up asking for champagne with my coffee Grin, I got coffee.

TotallyConkers · 09/06/2017 07:09

I agree it's the worst outcome. I wish we had a clear majority (either cons or labour) because the uncertainty is just going to cause more upset and instability economically.

Doublechocolatetiffin · 09/06/2017 07:09

oldbirdy thanks for explaining that. I knew there were a few seats that weren't taken up but I wasn't sure how many.

PhilODox · 09/06/2017 07:10

Twofingers- in general, people are foolish, self-interested, fickle, and sheep.
People on another thread don't even know who the DUP are!

Maudlinmaud · 09/06/2017 07:10

I cannot write in words how abhorrent the DUP are. God help us all.

StealthPolarBear · 09/06/2017 07:11

This is not sounding good

PhilODox · 09/06/2017 07:12

Indeed, maudlin. This is a disaster.

StealthPolarBear · 09/06/2017 07:12

Phil I don't. Never come across them before. Don't remember them being players in other elections.

PhilODox · 09/06/2017 07:13

I can see why people in NI despair. No one in England/Scotland gives a damn what happens there.

MacarenaFerreiro · 09/06/2017 07:14

Labour plus SNP plus Lib Dem still doesn't make a majority.

StealthPolarBear · 09/06/2017 07:16

Just read the BBC q and a on what happens next. I get theyre both going to hold talks in an attempt to negotiate a deal but it seems to indicate the likeliest outcome is tm resigning and jc forming a government. Why is that more likely?

Toffeelatteplease · 09/06/2017 07:16

According to the BBC they tend toward Brexit

StealthPolarBear · 09/06/2017 07:18

Point taken Phil. I'd argue I don't care but I am ignorant. I tend to know what's going on by the BBC news and by mn.

Toffeelatteplease · 09/06/2017 07:18

Because after the conservatives fucked over the lib dems in coalition their options for coalition are limited.

Although the dup conservatives numbers look more likely to stack that a lab snp alliance

DarkFloodRises · 09/06/2017 07:19

The problem with this election was there was really no good outcome.

Increased Tory majority - bad
Hung parliament - bad
Any other outcome - v unlikely

sparechange · 09/06/2017 07:19

The DUP having a seat at the table of power is the worst possible outcome for everyone

In a years time, the most ardent labour supporters will be wishing away a few seats to have allowed a slim Tory majority to have avoided handing power to the the DUP like this

StealthPolarBear · 09/06/2017 07:19

Ah of course toffee thanks. Their history of coalitions is not good.

Toffeelatteplease · 09/06/2017 07:20

Little sleep. As in few parties will agree a conservative coalition

AppalazianWalzing · 09/06/2017 07:20

The DUP are the party of the last Ian Paisley.

They are anti-choice, anti-gay marriage, anti-pretty much anything progressive. They are firmly pro Brexit even though leaving the EU and concerns over the border will be massively destabilising to the peace process.

It's hard to imagine their influence being positive but it would at least reduce the likelihood of Northern Ireland being forgotten in upcoming debates.

They can on current numbers form a coalition, and actually, I think a weak government that will last long enough to negotiate brexit and rightly take the fall for the disaster that will be might be the best long term outcome for the Labour Party.

SauvignonBlanche · 09/06/2017 07:22

Strong & stable leadership my arse! Wink
