Reasons not to vote UKIP
-They believe disabled children should be aborted www.gravesendreporter.co.uk/news/exclusive_compulsory_abortion_for_down_s_syndrome_foetuses_says_ukip_kent_candidate_1_1745952

-They oppose gay rights

-They want the NHS cut blogs.telegraph.co.uk/news/benedictbrogan/100257048/nigel-farage-the-tories-have-failed-only-ukip-dares-cut-spending-on-nhs-and-pensions

-They want pensions cut blogs.telegraph.co.uk/news/benedictbrogan/100257048/nigel-farage-the-tories-have-failed-only-ukip-dares-cut-spending-on-nhs-and-pensions/

-They support the ivory trade www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/politics/ukip-criticised-after-its-meps-vote-no-on-a-resolution-to-tackle-world-ivory-trade-9278390.html

-They are deeply sexist, especially towards working mothers www.huffingtonpost.co.uk/polly-courtney/nigel-farage-sexism_b_4652855.html

Make sure you don't let them win by failing to turn out. Vote Labour.

The Green Party if elected to govern would raise taxes massively to pay for their plans. They are more socialist than labour though their MP typically votes with labour in the commons. They are unlikely to ever be in this position although they could nudge policy to a greener position if elected in sufficient numbers.

LadySybilLikesCake · 28/04/2014 19:16

Sweden has higher taxes but people are generally happier so it wouldn't necessarily be a bad thing. Go, Sweden!

claig · 28/04/2014 19:36

'If Simon Heffer and the Daily Fail are the voice of the majority of Britain'

I think they are the voice of the majority of Conservative or former Conservative voters.

claig · 28/04/2014 19:39

'" Almost half the votes cast in the council elections were for the Tories or UKIP. "

...so more than half were for Labour or the Lib Dems? hmm

Making us a broadly left-wing country, then?"

That depends on what you think Cleggy is - more to the left or more to the right or centre. At the moment Cleggy is in power with the Tories.

True Tiggy but in many cases pre2010 the lib dens were the protest party. The party most likely to encourage tactical voting. Want to unseat a Tory in the south east vote lib dem. Want to get rid of a labour politician in london vote lib dem. They were all things to all men - easier when there's no prospect of power. Joining the coalition really screwed them on that approach; they actually had to do something, not just talk about it.

LittleBearPad · 28/04/2014 21:42

You can't extrapolate the political colour of this country from council elections. Not all councils have elections in the same year.

vertec · 28/04/2014 22:28

Yes, I shall be voting UKIP with enormous pleasure. I think this election will really see a shake up and it's really beyond time that LibLabCon had a wake up call. I'm looking forward to the fallout post-May 22nd.

Mitchy1nge · 28/04/2014 22:35

Obviously not going to vote UKIP, am a woman and not racist.

So I'll probably vote for whichever party is most likely to do something about our position on this list - look how far down it we are!

technically green party so far have 100% female mps

SabrinaMulhollandJjones · 28/04/2014 22:36

Er, no.

LittleBearPad · 28/04/2014 22:40

65th. That's a bloody depressing list.

Mitchy1nge · 28/04/2014 22:44

could be worse, could be the states!

am disappointed in Israel

napoleonsnose · 28/04/2014 22:57

I'd rather stick hot needles in my eyes than put my cross in the UKIP box. Bunch of racist, misogynistic homophobes. I am worried that so many people see them as a real alternative though. Not sure who I'm going to vote for yet, although I may go Green if they have a candidate running in this constituency.

Trillions · 28/04/2014 22:58

I could no more vote UKIP than BNP so it will be Labour for me but I do wish one of the normal, non-bonkers parties would have the balls to do something about immigration and the dilution of Britain's tolerant, equality-driven culture. I would vote for any mainstream party that promised to prevent the immigration of unskilled people (even if this required removing us from the EU) and to crack down on fundamentalist Islamic awfulness (FGM, segregated schools, little girls in headscarves etc). But I'm not holding my breath!

elportodelgato · 30/04/2014 19:17

Anyone else just watch that UKIP donor being interviewed on Channel 4 news with their jaw on the floor?

TheHammaconda · 30/04/2014 21:46

Channel 4 report on UKIP donor.

My jaw hit the floor and then kept on falling elporto.

A rich dinosaur.

But taking his money does not mean you have to implement his bizarre wishes.

mythical · 01/05/2014 22:39

No, I won't vote for UKIP.

I'm a female immigrant with a young daughter, i'm not a masochist.

ttosca · 07/05/2014 19:09

Anyone who isn't stupid shouldn't vote for UKIP.

Why did Amjad Bashir (UKIP) suddenly change his website? Change in policy or a blatant cover up?

Yesterday Amjad Bashir’s website said something completely different to what it says today.

www.amjadbashir.co.uk/

AMJAD BASHIR is UKIP’s Small & Medium Business Spokesman
