So if the Tories dont have a Plan B, what are they going to do now? (Not including blaming the last government even though they have been in power themselves for 2 years!)

Here is an article from Science magazine discussing the doomsday computer model predictions of the book.

Reminds me a bit of the "tipping point".
And the interesting thing is it is an elite group, not some ecowarriors.

'The book echoes some of the concerns and predictions of Thomas Malthus in An Essay on the Principle of Population (1798).'

Yep, we're back to Malthus and the elite's concern that there are too many oiks and they are using up resources.

And the Greens are a minor party with little real significance but lots of media time and attention and here is their deputy leader being interviewed by Andrew Neil and Andrew asks him about their policy document which says that there must be an 'optimum population' for the UK and it's all about the planet.

Claig don't you think poor people have much more to loose from population growth than rich people?

'If all the insects on earth disappeared, within 50 years all life on earth would disappear. If all humans disappeared, within 50 years all species would flourish as never before.' As Cl quoted above.

As I was saying if we take a position that objectively there is no reason humans shoudl be on the planet as dinosaurs or gases then why do people worry about our enduing our tiny blink of an eye presence on this planet (which in terms of time is very short) a micro second earlier (if there are problems caused by how we deal with the environment) or a second later? Surely the real greens do not necessarily support humans over anything else?

Wasabi, yes, you are probably right there.
