"News is coming in of protests and actions around the UK as part of the National Day of Protest Against Benefit Cuts called for the 24th January."

Are any of you likely to be attending this?
I'm thinking of dosing myself up on super strong painkillers and hobbling on over to the London one. Would be nice to meet up with some MNers?

FB event here

I'm anti violence, whether it is in quotes or not.

newwave · 23/01/2011 23:00

craig, sometimes I think your obtuse and at other times i am sure of it.

please note the "violence" is in quotes, throwing flour bombs and stink bombs at the Police is ok with me. I am also ok with rolling marbles under Police horses hooves if they are charging towards me as well.

Are you against Police violence as well or is that ok with you.

claig · 23/01/2011 23:05

I'm against all violence.

I'm glad you only think I am obtuse and not scum, as you think so many other people are.

KalokiMallow · 23/01/2011 23:18

"Brad, I think the OP was responding to newwave's post, where newwave said that she hopes there is trouble."

Yep, that'll be it, sorry should have made that more clear.

"throwing flour bombs and stink bombs at the Police is ok with me. I am also ok with rolling marbles under Police horses hooves if they are charging towards me as well."

Please don't go anywhere near the disability cuts protest.

claig, I have never called anyone on this site scum not even LFN, that is always aimed at Tory MP's and the government.

I do however think Tory voters are selfish for reasons I have given on many occassions.

You do try to twist things dont you.

claig · 23/01/2011 23:22

well said, Kaloki

newwave · 23/01/2011 23:29

People on protests have to protect themselves from Police violence, ask Peach and Tomlinson.

KalokiMallow · 23/01/2011 23:53

newwave Two wrongs don't make a right. Protection is one thing, violence is another. Violence is never acceptable.

Kaloki, Two wrongs just might ensure you are not another victim of Police thuggery. Remember to Police go out of their way to provoke violence.

I have first hand knowledge of the Police turning a blind eye to violence when i was a hunt sabber, I watched a hunt follower hit a guy across the face with a riding crop with plod watching, when asked to arrest the hunt follower he claimed he had seen none of it, when called a liar he threatened to arrest people for obstructing the Police.

KalokiMallow · 24/01/2011 00:01

"Remember to Police go out of their way to provoke violence."

Uh huh Hmm

Kaloki. Yes they do.

Kingsnorth Power station playing earsplitting music all night and were found to have broken the law themselves. Claiming over fifty injuries which were shown to have nothing at all to do with the protesters (bee stings and one who hurt himself climbing a fence etc)

Claiming there were not undercover plod agent provocateurs amongst the student protesters and then they were found to be lying.

Undercover plod who admit they have acted as agent provocateurs.

Kettling people and then charging them with horses for no reason.

Peach, Tomlinson and the lad with the fractured skull (who they tried to bar from receiving hospital treatment).

Yes, the plod provoke violence

Hossylass · 25/01/2011 01:44

New wave, I am confused that you are preventing cruelty to foxes, but applaud cruelty to horses?

So you want foxes to live, but horses must die simply because they are ridden by the Police?

I am struggling to get my head around this - cruelty is cruelty, regardless of class wars, political divides, or police enjoying willy waving and baton waving.

Most coppers are lousy riders anyway, just get your shoulder under the stirrup and push UP if you want to stop them.

Not that I am recommending that of course...

there is a TUC march against the cuts on March 26th. TUC is just the organiser - personally I feel that anyone who dislikes the current actions Angry of the government should be there to protest.

Currently I am shocked Shock and saddened Sad by the decision to sell public woodlands into private ownership. We own this land as a people and the government literally has no right to do this in our name - it is as though someone could sell your home without your consent. At the very least there should be a public referendum on the decision.

So please, if you feel strongly about any of the currently policies - from education- health - or the woodlands go and march on the 26th- for details - TUC website

CateOfCateHall · 01/02/2011 15:06

The aim is to get a million of us opposed to the current actions of the Government on the streets of London on March 26th. I'm hoping to be there. From what I gather it will be a family friendly occasion.

Good luck with it

dotnet · 01/02/2011 16:02

Please bring this up again on MN nearer the time, matthias and CateOfCateHall (the March 26 demo I mean). Then if we are looking at MN around then, we might be goaded into action, if reading about it in the general press hasn't spurrred us on.

It would be FAB to see a million on the streets!
