Nutters? In this BBC blog, one woman says "This progressive agenda (Obama's economic policies) has progressed to the tipping point in the United States, where we either stand up for the constitution of the United States or we accept socialism, tainted with Marxism."

How can she interpret Obama's policies as socialism tainted with Marxism? Is it just down to lack of education? I really, genuinely, don't understand. I don't understand the fear they seem to have. And they're doing well - they've got the Delaware Senate nomination, NY, Nevada, Colorado, Florida, Kentucky and Alaska. Meanwhile they're being funded by billionaires who clearly have a vested interest keeping the focus on tax cuts for the rich.

I don't know what my point is really - I get that many people want smaller government, lower taxation, less govt spending etc, but that view is already well represented. I don't get this extremism.

Sorry 'spout'.

complimentary · 16/10/2010 14:06

ISNT. Please don't flatter yourself, on this thread I've only addressed Claig and not you.

claig · 16/10/2010 14:11

thanks complimentary, but I am not a "he", although some people do occasionally give me the heebie-jeebies

complimentary · 16/10/2010 14:27

Claig I'm sorry I thought you were a man, but I probably have a stereo-type about men, and in my opinion they don't seem to insult/ infer/ patronise other MNs on this site. It was not just that your name sounds like Craig! ( I'll be accused of being mysognist in a minute!). You do seem to have a wealth of knowledge as far as politics/world affairs is concerned. Do you have any good reads you could recommend or websites. Thanks I'm going out now, have a nice day. Smile

claig · 16/10/2010 14:32

I always recommend people to read the 'Daily Mail'. It winds up progressives no end.
Have a nice day, and try to sidestep any progressives you meet Wink

hurry up, it'll be sold out. The public know what's hot and what's not. I've seen queues around the corner for it at 6a.m. It's gold dust, and the newsagent can't give copies of the Guardian away for free. Smile

The 'Gaurdian?' What paper is that? Oh yes I remember.... one old lecturer at University was trying to indoctrinate me with its fascist views some years ago, needless to say I declined both his fusty old advances and his choice of newspaper! and started to order a years supply of the good old Daily Mail! Must refresh myself with a book that I purchased 'One hundred years of the hate filled Gaurdian' Dam spiffing read, along with with Liberal Fascism (Jonah Goldberg).
Must say Claig, there are quite a few rascals on this site, wot? There I go, I've visited a few public schools and gon and changed me accent, next I'll be changing my politics, slopping around in a green cardi (recycled 100 times) and munching fair trade biscuits, whilst turning the heating off to save the planet!

WarwickHunt666 · 16/10/2010 19:28

ISNT: Playing the racist/xenophobic card is someone who cannot articulate a credible response - ISNT - that's you! Complimentary is articulating her views in a factual manner. ISNT - Go and get an education!Grin

With regards to the relevance of tje relative popularity of different papers, I would like to quite the great philosopher sid vicious.

I had the misfortune of finding a lump while I was working in America...A medical bill of $14,000.00 was presented after having one scan. I have many such stories of American capitalim and really think that if the Tea Party want a cause, it should be to bring life back down to a more realistic level!

Julesley · 05/11/2010 13:44

The thing about the Tea Party is that they look like normal mums ( moms!) and are always portrayed baking or in a nice home , which means the extreme politics they spout seem more rational.
I find them completely terrifying and fear for the state of the world if they rule America. Bush will look like a left winger then.
