June 2010 - MN Christian Prayer Request Thread: Captain Dippy apologises for going AWOL ....

CaptainDippy · 18/06/2010 11:34

She's back!!!!!!

Gosh, I am soooo sorry for a rather prolonged absence. Since going on holiday last month to Center Parcs I just feel like life has been zoooooooooming along at about 100 mph. I kept meaning to catch up here, but never quite meaning to do it. so sorry!! Having said that, I have been "chatting" to DO, Mary, Jen and others on Facebook a bit and Mary very^ kindly took my 'phone call about my mother outlaw's friends' daughter and granddaughter who have been involved in the horrific car crash.....

There was no one else involved. It seems that the daughter just drove into the wall of a shopping centre. No idea why. It was though initially that the granddaughter had the more severe injuries and was airlifted to hospital; but the daughter had to be cut out of the car and turned out to have the worse injuries. They have both been through hours or surgery and are now in induced comas. They both have some really awful injuries including broken bones, major internal abdominal injuries, possibly spinal problems and the granddaughter has concussion and possible major cranial injuries. It is just unthinkable awful. Please, please just pray for a miracle. The major worry at the moment is the daughter's abdominal injuries might cause Peritonitis, which could prove very serious. She also has a very dangerous blood clot in the top of her thigh. I just cannot imagine what her parents are going through, and her husband. This is all too awful.

Gosh.

Well I have a summary of all the prayer requests from the beginning of May to the present for you all. I am afraid I just simply couldn't cope with summarising April as well. I hope you don't mind!!

PositiveAttitude · 16/08/2010 13:12

Thanks for the prayers. Not feeling too bad today. I think as I have recognised that I was not feeling too good straight away I have hopefully been able to change a few things to help me not slip too far.

MHD hope you have a good break away and your chest improves.

Just off to collect DD2 and DS from their soul survivor trip. Just spoken to them and they are absolutely knackered!!!!

madhairday · 16/08/2010 13:30

Oh great PA - how did they find it? Love SS :)

BlueEyeshadow · 16/08/2010 14:51

Feeling tired and fed up today. DS2 teething and full of cold so doesn't want to sleep.

Got a lot of family events and travelling coming up, so prayers for good health and safe travel would be appreciated. My brother's got a stinking cold and sinusitis so please pray for healing for him and that nobody else picks it up from him. Thanks.

Praying for all.

MaryBS · 16/08/2010 17:05

I am feeling a bit wobbly and tired and unwell.

I'm supposed to be taking home communion to someone tomorrow, despite saying to my vicar that I might not be able to (and he's away and no-one else can do it). I've asked a number of people if they'd look after the children and they can't. I don't want to cancel but it looks as if I might have to - I've prayed for a solution, and nothing seems to be forthcoming. Its not an option for me to take them with me.

madhairday · 16/08/2010 17:16

Mary sorry to hear you are feeling a bit grotty. Sounds like it may be an idea to cancel the H.C anyway if you're under the weather, it's not your fault and can be done another day, I'm sure the person will understand. Hope you feel better soon. Praying for you. How are things with dd now?

Blue, praying for good health and protection for your family with travelling and events. Hope ds2 sleeps better tonight.

MaryBS · 16/08/2010 19:50

Well I would if I had the correct phone number for her... hmm...

MaryBS · 16/08/2010 19:51

and I think the unwell feeling is due to fretting...

amberlight · 16/08/2010 20:02

prayers aplenty still for everyone...

teaandcakeplease · 16/08/2010 22:53

Lurking and praying.

A lot of my friends have been to SS week b as well Smile Did they enjoy it PA?

PositiveAttitude · 17/08/2010 06:44

Yes thatnks, TACP, they seem to have had a fantstic time and have both said how much they got out of it this year, which is brill. Came home exhausted and hungry, ate everything that was humanly possible, early to bed and have a DVD day planned for today!!

Something happened when I was in town yesterday, which has knocked me a bit. I was walking along and tripped on a kerb. Just a small trip, that you then right yourself and feel stupid, and carry on walking. Only I happened to be walking past an older lady at the time and I think my bag knocked her, she dramatically fell sideways and backwards and ended up being carted off in an ambulance. I feel so guilty, althouhg, logically, I know it was an accident and there was absolutely nothing i could have done about it. As she was lying on the floor she was not very pleasant, but I realise that was her shock talking, well I hope so anyway, but I cant get out of my head what she was calling me and the abuse she was saying. Not a good nights sleep because I was replaying it all over and over and trying to think of how I could have changed anything.
Sorry, I'm rambling, but could you please pray for this lady, for her injuries (if she has any) and for her to forgive me, please.

Mary, I hope today sorts itself out the best way for you.

teaandcakeplease · 17/08/2010 08:27

Oh no PA Sad I completely understand why you felt as you did and slept badly. I will pray for her x

Good morning all. Flying by! Have you seen the brilliant Hungarian priest on his skateboard?

Prayers would be appreciated for me as I have agreed to run a 30 minute kids service on Sunday at church in the afternoon - a noisy, jolly affair I hope - the first time we have done anything like this.

Prayers that enough helpers would step up, that the right kids will come, and that they will be blessed and meet the Lord there would be really useful.

Thanks!

PositiveAttitude · 17/08/2010 10:23

TACP Envy (if I am allowed to on a Christian thread) about you going to SS Watford. It must be amazing!!! Living on a little old island we are some-what behind a bit, so the week every year is great to remind my DCs that it is not always as bad as it sometimes is here. We do attend probably the livliesst church on the island, but still very frustrating at times. I am sure other churches have different issues though..... the perfect church and all that.....

A quick question. Do you think that I should phone the hospital and see how this lady is? If she is ok, then I will feel better, but if she is not ok I know i will feel worse, so torn as to whether to or not??? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Prayers for you all.

madhairday · 17/08/2010 11:26

PA, that's such a horrible thing to happen to you. I don't know about ringing the hospital....I guess if you feel you need to know either way it could be a good thing, or it may be better for you leaving it....sorry not to be much help. Praying for you.

TACP I also have a Envy face at SS watford. dh is a curate in a tiny traditional church and while we are starting new stuff up it is painfully slow and hard work. I get so much out of New wine and it has to last me the year :) But I wouldn't be anywhere else - it is so exciting too seeing the beginnings of stuff and lives changed. wish we had a ss type church nearby to occasionally go to...

My friend is definitely in for induction today, so please pray! And another dear friend goes in tomorrow for a c-section, so looking forward to news over the next couple of days.

M44 · 17/08/2010 15:32

PLease pray for my dear mother in law. She has really reached the end now and is very poorly, on morphine etc. Please pray that she will be received into the Kingdom sooner rather than later.....she has suffered so much for so long.
Thank you. x

DutchOma · 17/08/2010 15:39

Praying for all of you.

teaandcakeplease · 17/08/2010 19:51

Praying for you all.

SS worship music is great but the talk/ sermon's aren't very deep or challenging a lot of the time. Very basic stuff usually, due to the fact the church tries to make itself very accessable to new Christians/ Non believers and keeps things casual so no confession as such either, although sometimes in the service they do encourage you to bring things to God for forgiveness. It's very relaxed, great on the Holy Spirit and ministry though, however having grown up in a standard CofE church, sometimes I long for a little more tradition Shock So you're right about different issues etc.

I want to go to New Wine next year with my 2 DCs. Couldn't face it this year with an 18 month old and a just turned 3 year old. Hoping next year I can manage on my own as a single mum at New Wine. As most people at my church naturally go to the SS festivals.

PA - I maybe too late but I do not think you should ring the hospital. When I prayed yesterday I got the distinct feeling that you are having trouble forgiving yourself for knocking the lady over by accident when you tripped. I maybe wrong. I think if the news wasn't good you'd feel even worse. So I personally think it's a bad idea. But you can take or leave that peace of advice. It was an accident, we're all praying for her and I think you need to give it to God and try and let go. But you can totally disregard my point of view of course, or tell me to zip it Wink Grin

roslily · 17/08/2010 21:24

Hi guys, its been a while, sorry.

I am feeling doubtful about my choice of church tonight, that somehow it isn't right. It is a pioneer church (TACP- I went to SS watford once in my teenage years), good worship, strong Holy Spirit, house groups for Bible study. I feel confident there, but my recent stupid request of local CofE church has made me feel like maybe it isn't a proper church. I feel a bit lost.

teaandcakeplease · 17/08/2010 21:37

Sad I have a brain like a sieve and cannot remember where you live or much about your situation and church but you could come to SSW one Sunday if you live nearby? You're right the cell groups are fab Smile The prayer and choc womans group is held at my house every 3rd Thurs each month and that is awesome as well. It's the talks at church that I feel let down by but we all have things in our church that we're not entirely satisfied by.

Remind me what happened so I can sympathise/ commiserate?

PositiveAttitude · 18/08/2010 08:46

TACP I think you are right. Blush Sad I am very vocal about my belief that "accidents happen" and get really cross with the "someone has to be blamed" culture these days, so I really should listen to myself. It was an accident and there was absolutely nothing i could ahve done to prevent it, so I must not keep thinking about it and beating myself up over it.

Thanks Smile

madhairday · 18/08/2010 11:23

Hope you're feeling a bit better about it today PA. I too think TACP is right.

Roslily - praying for you for some clarity. It does seem that we all have struggles in some areas in our church, but I guess what's important is to feel it is the right church for us, then we can get past the niggles. The church you describe sounds good, but if you are craving the more formal anglican setting maybe it isn't for you? I went to a vineyard church for a year or so and it was fantastic, amazing kids work etc but eventually I decamped back to the local anglican church as I missed the pattern of worship, even though I am more charismatic than traditional. I would think you need to have a look round some churches and see what feels like home. Were you in a more anglican setting previously?

TACP, I would encourage you to come along to New wine, it is wonderful for children as well as for yourself, do you know anyone else that goes as it is good to be in a group for support etc. We take a group so you would always be welcome to come with us :)

Great news - my neighbour had her baby - a little girl, both doing so well. Such a great answer to prayer, as back at 24 weeks things were looking so bad. thanks for all your prayers :)

shieldbug · 18/08/2010 12:42

Hello again!
Thanks for your prayers about safety on our holidays. We had a lovely relaxing time away and really enjoyed the chance to be together before sproglet is born.

M44- praying for your mil and for your family at this time. May you all know God's comfort in difficult circumstances.

PA- agree with the comments about not contacting the hospital. Prayers for the woman is indeed the best response, even if she doesn't know about them.

teaandcakeplease · 18/08/2010 13:27

MHD - Everyone at SSW goes to the SS festivals generally. In fact most people serve at the festivals who attend SSW. I think for the age of my children New Wine is better for them from looking into the kids work with both. There are pros and cons to both festivals but my budget would only stretch to one, so for me I trink it'll be New Wine next year. Maybe I'll find someone to come with me by next year, if not I'll let you know Smile

Great news about the safe arrival of the baby girl. God is so good.

Glad you had a lovely holiday Shieldbug Smile

shieldbug · 18/08/2010 18:53

I've just had a scan and the consultant said that the baby may have cysts on its kidneys. I've been referred to a specialist in 2 weeks time to check it out more thoroughly. Although I know that in many cases these things vanish and resolve themselves, I'm desperately worried thinking of all the worst case scenarios. Please pray that by the time I go to this appointment that they will be gone and our baby is fine. I feel like we've already had so much grace from God this pregnancy (like getting pregnant in the first place and everything working out ok with the fibroids) that surely this will turn out to be fine too. 2 weeks is a long time to wait for news as well. Thanks for your prayers; dh appreciates them too.
