Just wanted to swing by and say that I've felt a heck of a lot more peaceful this week and not as panicky, praise God!!

Captain I'm five weeks today, bit of a surprise but a lovely surprise. God certainly has an odd sence of timing. But hey ho!

Blue Will be praying for you.

Weegiemum Sorry about your uncle, will be praying!!

DutchOma · 21/02/2010 17:42

We shall keep on praying for you and little bean, Hermya.

Also praying for another 6 hours sleep (at least for BES' ds2.

MrsCadwallader · 21/02/2010 18:12

Continued prayers for you, Hermya.

Prayers for more peaceful nights for you, too, BES - lack of sleep is a real killer!

Another rather selfish prayer request from me, I'm afraid. I've mentioned before that I am currently studying for a career in the law. I'm just beginning the process of trying to persuade someone to give me a job at the end of it all. Tomorrow I am attending an assessment day at a big local law firm, who I really really like and would love to work for. If I'm successful tomorrow I will gain a place on their 2-week summer placement programme, which also guarantees me an interview for a job with them. I really need all of God's strength and courage with me - if this is where He wants me to be, may He grant me the ability to do and say all the right things tomorrow! And if my path lies elsewhere, may He help me to recognise this and show me what the next steps are.

Off to prepare now..... at least I have solved the important question of what I am going to wear!

CaptainDippy · 21/02/2010 20:44

Hermya, glad you're feeling better.

Sooz, praying for those night terrors - not fun!

WM, sorry to hear about your uncle, and praying for S.

PA - how is your minister? So awful for him and his family

Sunday went well for me. A new bible study group starts at my house this afternoon - my initiative, where we look at the readings from the previous Sunday and discuss. Initially for Lent only. Please pray this is something that people want, and that they will come, and we can build some fellowship in our church. Its sad to say, but many are too busy to come to this sort of thing, and its a shame, because we really need to get some fellowship going.

madhairday · 23/02/2010 13:36

That sounds really good Mary. Will pray for you. I want to start up some kind of daytime thing too, but am thinking along the lines of an enquirers thing - eg start, alpha type thing but prob not alpha as I don't think it would work in this setting. Start is good though getting a bit dated. does anyone have any recommendations for other 'seeker' courses that are a bit more contemporary and not cringy, and pretty relaxed and open to questions etc? I have a few friends who are interested but want it to be pretty low key/mainly chat. Maybe I'll make one up?

MrsCadwallader · 23/02/2010 14:12

We did the Emmaus course, which was quite good as a 'starter'. I've not done Alpha so I can't compare it myself, but from what people who have done both have said, the Emmaus course is much quieter and more thoughtful than Alpha, which (from what one lady said) was a bit 'happy clappy' and there was a lot of expectation as to what you were supposed to 'feel' at particular parts of the course.

Emmaus, on the other hand, was very open to question, and really encouraged discussion. However, there was an awful lot about the prodigal son.... by the end of the course, evey time we were directed to read a particular bible passage, we all laid bets as to whether ornot it was going to be the prodigal son!!

Thanks for the prayers for yesterday I survived it, but honestly have no idea how I did. I also felt very old - all the other candidates were young and gorgeous and about 22 I felt ancient! I should find out how I got on in about a week's time. I'm trying to be accepting of whatever happens!

BlueEyeshadow · 23/02/2010 18:39

Well, we had another bad night last night so back to the doctor this morning. It seems he now has tonsilitis so now we have to get penicillin into him 4 times a day, an hour before food! The poor little guy seems to be so run down that he's catching anything going.

The Lent group sounds good Mary. It's so hard to get to anything like that with little ones though.

DutchOma · 23/02/2010 19:33

Praying for a better night BES. Poor little mite.

The Lent group went very well!!! Although numbers were low, maybe because we clashed with a funeral. But all those who attended gave it the thumbs up!

Emmaus is good, I recommend it. Maybe we were lucky and managed to avoid most of the prodigal material??? There are enough topics to choose from though, and its good for promoting discussion. I have to admit I've never fancied Alpha!

DutchOma · 23/02/2010 20:50

I wondered how you and your dd2 were getting on Belgianbun, glad you have updated. Prayers that the neuroblastoma will indeed disappear of its own accord and glad to hear hat you feel more reassured about the whole process.

CaptainDippy · 24/02/2010 12:54

Prayers for your little man, hope he is better sap and you can all get some sleeeeeep!!! xx

BB - thank you for the update, your lovely DD is most definitely in my thoughts and prayers - as are you and all your family. Do keep us updated when you can. xx

madhairday · 24/02/2010 14:24

Glad the Lent course went well Mary.
Belgian bun, praying for your dd2. xx
Thanks for the recommendations re Emmaus, will def look into it, it sounds like it might be a better fit for what we are looking to do. I have led an Alpha course and it was great for what we were doing in the place we were doing it, but doesn't really fit for this small scale relaxed and open thing I want here.

Please can you pray for my friend whose baby dd is very poorly in hospital with breathing problems. they can't find out what is wrong.

amberlight · 24/02/2010 16:12

Keeping the prayers going...

CaptainDippy · 24/02/2010 18:01

Praying for you friend's DD MHD. Keep us updated. xx

OP posts:
MrsCadwallader · 24/02/2010 19:15

Continued prayers for all.

BelgianBun, I'm so glad it was such a good ourcome for your DD - prayers that she continues to do well

Prayers for MHD's friends baby.

Could you please pray for my friend from my home group? She has 20 month old twins (2nd set of twins in the family - not planned! plus an older 'singleton' too, so 5 children in total). She's overstretched at the best of times but the younger twins have been sleeping very badly for some time and she is exhausted and tearful every time I see her, and swamped with well-meaning advice that most often just makes her feel even more hopeless for doing it 'wrong'. Please pray that the twins will begin to sleep better very soon, and that I might find a way to support her in some practical way.

MrsCadwallader · 24/02/2010 19:16

'outcome' for Belgianbun's DD! I can't type....

PositiveAttitude · 24/02/2010 20:59

Prayers for sleep for everyone who needs it.

BB - prayers for healing for your DD.

DD3 has had the best few weeks for 20 months here, which is fantastic. BUT now DD2 has had blood results back today which confirm glandular fever. Prayers for her please as she is feeling very unwell and worried about her AS levels in a few months time. Also, please pray that I will stay calm as DD3's severe CFS/ME was triggered by glandular fever 20 months ago. GP has been fantastic and reassures me we wont be that unlucky again. (He said DD3 was the worst case he had seen in 30 years of being a GP!)
Thank you.

Good to hear about all the courses you are all running. DH has been running a couple of alpha courses a year for our church. He says each one is very different and "adapts" it for the group he has at the time. It is the next step that we have a difficulty knowing where to take them from there, until they are ready to join a full blown housegroup, if they are still a bit wobbly about things still. The group he has at the moment he is looking through John with them and letting them discover as they read and study together. He loves it and is always excited about their discoveries.
Enough rambling form me.
Love to you all.
