Have you seen 'The purpose driven life', MrsC? That's quite a good one for lent as it's a 40 day study guide, q thought provoking.
PositiveAttitude, sorry to hear your dd needs an op, hope she is OK. praying.

MrsCadwallader · 30/01/2010 16:38

Thanks - another one to look into (I need to pay a visit to Wesley Owen, don't I?!)

PositiveAttitude · 30/01/2010 16:59

MrsCad I would certainly endorse the purpose driven life. Our church did this for lent a few years ago and it had a huge spiritual impact on many people.

CD, if you have got access to anywhere that sells a job lot of playdough, and can spread newspaper on the floor/let them have a big table, that's great stuff to let a home group loose with . They can make something with a Biblical theme, or make models of each other as a child of God, which is funny as well as useful.

Or a set of magazines and get them to cut out things that say 'child of God' to them and make a giant group collage.

Keeps our children's groups busy...and me too

MC, many many prayers for you in your current situation. There aren't words enough...

And prayers for everyone else too.

Could I please ask you all to pray for a local minister who has recently married and is a fantastic preacher, a lovely guy and an all round wonderful man. he has just been diagnosed as having a brain tumour. things are not looking too good, but he will know more next week. No being wimpy about this. We are praying for 100% healing! God can, so we are asking!!

thank you.

Notquitegrownup · 04/02/2010 11:14

Good morning all, and well done CD on that huuuuuge prayer summary. It must have taken you ages.

Welcome Madhairday. (I used to be a regular here, until last September when I got a new job, which is keeping me very very busy and off MN a lot.) Great to know that you have time to pray for those on this thread: its a lovely place to be.

Please could I pop in a little request that I might be able to keep things in balance, with my new job, which is lovely and very rewarding but so busy too. Juggling work, family, church, prayerlife, housework etc is proving challenging. (Christmas wasn't good this year - a huuuuggge disorganised muddle!) However, Sunday School is growing fantastically, and we are hoping to start a kids praise service in the evenings sometime, which is exciting. I just need to make sure I am where I am supposed to be, and to find some more time for prayer too.

Prayers for all on this thread.

God bless all.

weegiemum · 04/02/2010 11:19

Just saw this ......

Praying......

Update: R has gone home! She had a sucessful operation on her back and has been able to go home in a body brace, praise God!

Also on us - illnesses receding - we are busy as it is Birthdays this week - ds yesterday, dd1 on Saturday!!

But : I've just been diagnosed with a prem menopause (I'm 39). Its a bit of a pain, as I can't have HRT due to other serious health issues, plus dealing with this along with my new clinical psychology appointments for my depression is hard (though we now might have a reason for my depression!!!). I know I didn't want any more babies, but now I cant its a little more poignant to meet up with friends who have newborns!

CaptainDippy · 04/02/2010 12:52

PA - Prayers for the Minister and his family Uphold them at this time. So terrible. xx

Great news about R, WM; but buggeroony about prem-menopause. Just what you need, poor love.

OP posts:
MaryBS · 05/02/2010 07:44

Praying for your minister PA, how awful

WM - re: menopause. Could it be affecting how you feel/your depression? I had to go to the Dr last year because I was getting seriously low just before a period, and I have had a Mirena fitted, which has stopped the dreadful mood swings, and indeed the very heavy periods I was getting. I am 43. Praying anyhow, you have so much to contend with.

NQGU - praying for the gift of "time management". Find time to listen to God if you can, see if he is telling to slow down a bit - you can't do His work if you're knackered!

Praise God - E has not lost any more weight this week, although she's not gained any either. So at least for this week, admitting her to hospital is on hold.

Please continue to pray for Val, she is very depressed about what has happened to her

CaptainDippy · 05/02/2010 11:10

Popping by to say hello to all my friends!!

OP posts:
PositiveAttitude · 05/02/2010 12:41

Hi. Can I be your friend CD?

this weekend we have 80 young people going away for a residential. lots of worship/fun/food and challenging talks. The young minister who has the brain tumour is going to be leading a lot of the talks. he is insisting on still doing it. many prayers woould be appreciated for the weekend. Each year God does exceedingly more than we can hope or dream of......may this continue this year.
DD2 and DS are going to be attending.
I have been doing all the administration for the weekend, which is an absolute nightmare. just handed over all the folders with everything in them, so feeling a huge sense of relief!

have a good weekend everyone.

Prayers continuing from me.

frosti1981 · 05/02/2010 13:49

This is my first time here. I'm not used to asking for things for myself but I would really appreciate your prayers. Nothing serious but life in a state of flux and don't know which way to go. DH has taken early retirement/redundancy. I have taken a sabbatical from responsibilities at church in order to help him adjust. Patience wearing a little thin but after 29 years of marriage we will find our way through this and reach a greater understanding. I miss my roles at church but I owe him this time. I feel as though I am letting everyone, including God, down.
