DO - praying for Bob and Margaret

Continuing prayers for my studies please - I read a WHOLE ethix book yesterday (speedreading), made some notes which might help. Apparently Disability Ethics is Liberation Theology!

CaptainDippy · 14/10/2008 19:11

I am sure all will be fine CC - better to be safe than sorry - I prefer it when drs are over cautious. xx

Praying for kimi, her sister and especially her mum - a desperately sad situation

I saw the loveliest dr today, shame he was a Locum He was sympathetic and understanding and lovely. He kept calling me "honey", it was so sweet He's put me on Citalopram and Zopiclone and I have to go back to be reviewed in a fortnight. I am relieved, but very scared too. The dr gave me the biggest hug before I left the surgery. He was just lovely. Thank you Lord for him Just praying I have the strength for what's to come ...

OP posts:
notsofarnow · 14/10/2008 20:14

So sorry I not been round just busy busy busy but feel I'm making excuses. So much going on atm.

On the plus side I have an interview tomorrow for ward clerk job which is not where my heart is but will be better hours for getting dc ready for school - going for it on a job share basis so praying that if its meant to be it will be.

dd1 had interview this eve for mcdonalds and has an induction on fri and if uniforms arrives will start on the w/e

on the down side took ds1 for his flu jab this morning and when askedif he was well i said yes he fine except for these spots on his back - she swiftly went to get gp who said he got chicken pox I argued and said he's had them already but she said there are different strains of the virus which all give same symptoms - he not in any way shape or form poorly but have had to do some major juggling to sort child care for interview tomorrow.

Plus it really busy week in church supposed to be there every night from tomorrow as its our corps review process, normal practices, and our give to grow meal, teaching etc.

saying a prayer for all you lovely ladies.

cd glad you got sorted with some meds hun praying you start to feel beter really soon.

MarsLady · 14/10/2008 22:49

So... praise God. Two ladies gave birth but I missed one My lovely back up went. She was a 0-60 birth. My slow labour lady finally gave birth on Sunday afternoon. I made it to half of my Conference. I was so convinced that the baby would be born by that morning sigh...

Thank you for praying. I'm now waiting on a friend to give birth to twins and then I'm done for a while.

Praise God because He is good.

CaptainDippy · 15/10/2008 07:47

Hope you get the job if it's "right" nsfn All the best to DD as well

Glad your ladies have popped Marsy sorry you missed one Glad you are feeling praiseful

Not feeling quite so fantastic here ... Bloomin' typical - DH is away overnight so my older two get up before 6am making enough noise to wake the dead, go through my handbag, ruin an expensive lipstick, scribble in my diary and then throw a complete strop over which spoon they are going to eat their breakfast with I am exhausted already and it is not even 8am. Yuk

DutchOma · 15/10/2008 08:14

Oh Dippy, will they be going to school/playgroup today? Have hugs for all of you

MaryBS · 15/10/2008 08:18

Hugs CD, and prayers that you get some rest today

Swaliswan · 15/10/2008 08:49

Big {{{{hugs}}}} for you CD. DD got up at 6am as well and I've spent half the night trying to get DH to stop kicking me out of bed I'm exhausted too but thankfully DD is with the childminder. Are you going to get any rest today?

I'm feeling miserable, fed-up and very nervous today. I'm quite annoyed with work insisting on sending me home sick and then phoning occupational health. I thought that I was doing really well by keeping on going in to work and just doing what I could manage and then going off to throw up every so often or, if I was feeling feint, lying down for a short while. When I was pg with DD, I had 8 weeks off sick instead of trying to keep going and they didn't like that either. It's not my fault that I don't sail through pregnancy I am also very nervous about my first midwife appointment at 11am today.

Sorry that my post was very me, me, me. I'm finding it very hard to concentrate on anything else this morning.

CaptainCaveman · 15/10/2008 10:08

CD am Praising God for the lovely GP you saw, what a blessing. Have you had citalopram before? Just be aware that after a few days you may feel a little more anxious for a day or so, but that is just the meds starting to work - you may not even experience this but I have found that on day 3 I definately feel more anxious, then by day 4 I feel better again . ((((((CD))))) Well done for going to the gp though.

CaptainCaveman · 15/10/2008 10:09

Praying for your mw appt too SS, and that you soon feel better, and calmer, and that work are more supportive towards you.

JentlyDoesIt · 15/10/2008 10:26

Hi Ladies, baby still has no name. I'm liking Emily but have been reminded that it's not my baby to name!!! Surname is Fry and I think Emily Fry sounds gorgeous...

CC - prayers that O gives you a big old cheesy grin very sson just like that!

CD - Hoorah for you going to the GP and hoorah fo the GP himself - he sounds FAB... why can't they all be like that? Hoping you start to feel better v soon. Also hoping the girlies sort themselves out...

DO - prayers for Bob and Margaret how are you and your own Bob?

SS - good luck with the MW today. Don't worry about work, there isn't a lot they can do. I went back to work a year ago after my mat leave with DS and promptly announced I was 14 weeks pg with DD - that did NOT go down well

Mary - prayers for your studies, that book sounds quite interesting

NSFN - at DS's injections and good luck for your interview and DD's work.

Please could you pray for my friend S? Her mum died very suddenly yesterday - she was only mid 50's I have know this friend since we were 7 but we lost contact a few years ago and through the wonder of Facebook we have been in contact again. Lord, please help her and her family through these very dark days.

Sorry if I have forgotten anyone, hope all is well.

loonywoman · 15/10/2008 11:16

Prayers for all.

SS - just reading this at about 11am so am praying for you now whilst you are in your midwife appt.

CD - your children sound just like mine. They never sleep soundly when DH away, then get up at the crack of dawn to cause mayhem. One of my friends used to phone me up when she was down and say "tell me a Sophie story" as my oldest would always do such outrageous and comical naughtiness - I like to think that there was at least some good come out of my despair. Just hang in there. I hope the meds start working for you soon and that you feel more like yourself.

JDI - How is the wrist doing? I am praying that you make a swift recovery

NSFN - hope the childcare is sorted and that the interview goes well.

CC - Praying for you and Oliver

Swaliswan · 15/10/2008 12:48

Well, Ladies, I'm back and a whole lot happier. It turns out that I'm measuring rather large for dates but only heard one FHB. I'm convinced that I can't be more pg than my dates as I kept getting neg tests until I was 5 weeks pg when the test turned so pink it was the deepest purple I've ever seen on a test.

Bring on the twins.......

loonywoman · 15/10/2008 13:17

glad it went well SS and that you are feeling happier. Have you got a scan booked yet?

Swaliswan · 15/10/2008 13:23

No, Loonywoman, the midwife still hadn't put the scan request card in today and I'm ?12+6 today so it's just as well I don't want a NT scan as it will probably be too late by the time I get my scan. I'm even more desperate for my scan now! Either way it's going to be exciting. I'd love to be a bit further on in my pg without even knowing it or to have twins....

If this turns out to be twins then I'm going to be asking MarsLady for some advice!

DutchOma · 15/10/2008 14:16

Oooh Swaliswan, did the midwife think it might be twins? How come they are so slow in doing the scan for you, I just can't understand.

Swaliswan · 15/10/2008 14:33

Because I have the most disorganised midwife, DO. It's really getting on my nerves that she is so slow to put my card in but she was lovely and put me at ease about a few things. At least I have a booklet with the number for the US dept in now so I can ring them in a few days to check if they have my card.

scrappydappydoo · 15/10/2008 15:12

Hi all, I know I've never posted on this thread before but I do lurk n pray quite a bit so i hope you don't mind me sharing a prayer request i got e-mailed this morning. Its from Andrew Whites newsletter (Andrew runs the largest church in baghdad and is often called the vicar of baghdad) Anyhow, whereas the violence in baghdad seems to have lessened there has been a huge increase in violence (kidnappings, attacks and massacres) against Christians in Nineveh/Mosul. Please, Please pray for this predominently Christian area of Iraq - they have been through so much already. The title of the e-mail was 'we thought it could not get worse - it has' I know there are many many persecuted Christians around the world but please just a few seconds of your time for these particular ones. I know God is listening to even the smallest prayers. Thank you

DutchOma · 15/10/2008 15:54

I remember his name from Revjustabout's blog, wasn't he the one who agreed with her ds that she should give the collar back to the dog?
Anyway, I'll gladly spend a little time praying for persecuted Christians in Baghdad, although it is hard to pray for anyone specifically for security reasons.
Thank you for bringing it to our notice, you are most welcome on the board.
Best of luck with the US department SS, glad the midwife was able to reassure you.

amber32002 · 15/10/2008 16:21

Prayers for everyone as I read through....

ZipadiSuzy · 15/10/2008 18:51

Wow, loads to pray for, its going to take me a week to catch up.

CD you sound as though you need a hug]]]]]]]]]]] prayers for you.

NSFN - prayers for ds 'chicken pox'

SS - 'TWINS' lovely may it sound, but major hard work, although what will be will be! my lovely twins are 5 this friday, they are soooo excited! (I'm extremely anxious)

These trojen horses are back so trippity trotting off quick sharp!

loonywoman · 15/10/2008 19:06

Scrappy - are you able to attach the newsletter to this somehow so that we can forward it to others for prayer. I know lots of people in my church would pray.

Over and out for now- Bedtime for monster children at long last.

scrappydappydoo · 15/10/2008 19:36

Iraqi We thought it could not get worse, it has.

We watched last year in Dura south of Baghdad as the Christians were
persecuted, killed and massacred. Many fled Baghdad and they went to the safe
area of Nineveh in the heart of Mosul. The place they fled to is the heart of
the Christian community. In recent days it all went wrong. The Christians have
again been targeted, killed and massacred. This time not in Baghdad, but in the
heart of the Christian area of Nineveh. Last Sunday in Church I asked our
people how many of them were from Nineveh and about 80% said they were. The
homeland of hundreds of our people.

I just spoke to our churchwarden his nephew and his father had just been shot
dead outside their house in Nineveh. The nephew Alhassan was due to be engaged
on Friday. As I left church yesterday I was phoned again by church members they
had just heard that their family home in Nineveh had been totally blown up.
There were now 7 people without a home in need of help. All these people need
help, all of these people expect me to do something and I will. These are our
people and we must stand with them. Can you imagine this kind of thing
happening in England? Well the fact is these are still our people. They too are
our family and they need love and support.

The fact that Christians are now being attacked in the heartland of
Christianity is very significant. This is the place where the people have
believed in the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob for 2700 years since the
miserable evangelist turned up by submarine transportation. 700 hundred years
later another miserable person turned up on his way to India. It was doubting
Thomas. He told them that their messiah had arrived down the road in Israel the
people believed and until today Nineveh is still Christian. The longest
standing Christian place in the world. To this day the most revered people here
in Iraq by the Christians are Jonah and Mar Thoma (St Thomas). These are our
brothers and sisters and we must not forget them. St Georges Anglican Church
Baghdad is now the largest church in Iraq with nearly 2000 members.

None of our people are traditionally Anglican but now in the midst of trauma
denominations do not matter, all that matters is that that we believe in Jesus.
In the last service I told our people what I regularly tell them. "There are no
guarantees that we will not be killed this week, but there is one guarantee
that when we see Jesus we will be like him". At this the people always cheer.

We cannot deny the success of the Surge; violence is still down in Baghdad. The
sad reality is though that many of the terrorist groups like Al Qaida have
moved north to places like Mosul. Who is responsible for the violence is still
not clear. There is agreement that the violence is Sunni some say it is Al
Qaida types other are placing the blame on the Kurds. This seems quite unlikely
as many of the Christians have now escaped Nineveh / Mosul and are seeking
refuge in Kurdistan. Added to these many problems and dangers that the
Christians are facing there has also been the recent dismissal of the
parliament to allow minorities to have representation reserved in the regional
governments. So life is very hard at this time for the remaining Christians in
Iraq. The majority of this minority have already fled. Those left are the ones
who can't afford to leave or are refusing to.

In the midst of this crisis the Multi National Forces in Iraq are seriously
considering what they can do. The Iraqi Government has already seconded 1000
police and military forces to the area. In the midst of this crisis once again
the only solution appears to be to overcome the violence by force. As people of
peace this may not be the solution we like but there appears to be no other
option, the people committing this violence will not talk to you, they will not
engage and look for other solutions. As far as they are concerned they are
killing the infidels who they wrongly believe are aligned to the west and the
coalition.

Meanwhile back at church we simply keep loving and serving. We now have a
clinic at the church with three doctors, three Dentists and a pharmacy.
Everything we do is totally free and most of our patients are not Christian but
Muslim. We have no plans to stop serving all people and the one thing we say as
a church is we will never stop doing is loving, loving and loving. The threat
returns, the violence is real but by the grace of God will keep going.
