Nice idea, CD, but the maternity unit has a security door on it so I would have to convince the receptionist to let me on the unit first and they probably already think that I'm a nutter as I've phoned them twice already!

CaptainDippy · 10/10/2008 12:46

You'd be ifne, just say you are here to see a MW - or call the unit beforehand and ask to speak to the MW on duty and get her name, then specifically go to see her. Do it!!

Clockface · 10/10/2008 13:24

Hi all.

Could I ask for prayer please? I had a scary thing happen yesterday - I lost the sight in one eye for about 5 mins. It was very surreal and the timing was awful as it was right when I was picking up the dc from school, so there were people milling everywhere, parents chatting, ds waving at me etc and all the time I was trying not to panic or look too odd. I was really shaken afterwards and my dad insisted on taking me to A&E.

So they organised to go to the Eye Casualty clinic this afternoon. My eye still hurts now and I'm still trying not to panic / speculate / look up eye disorders on the internet! [smile[ (I have resisted that urge!)

Swaliswan · 10/10/2008 13:49

No need, CD! I phoned the unit and the midwife who covers my area was in the office so she spoke to me. I don't think that she was too happy that I'd phoned up and was a bit abrupt but she said that she was going to put my scan request card in and I am going to see her on wednesday at 11!

pReachyTheExorcist · 10/10/2008 16:34

clockface hope you are ok.

shot in the dark i know but that happeed to me many years ago and it turned out to be a form of panic attack, could that be it?

DutchOma · 10/10/2008 17:21

That must have been very scary Clockface, hope you are alright.

I had a text message from Jentlydoesit to say that she was in hospital for the operation on her wrist. They wouldn't let dd (not quite 6 months) stay on the ward with her so DP took her home. She was feeling quite anxious and asked that I let you all know that she won't be able to type for a week or so and she asks for our prayers.

CaptainDippy · 10/10/2008 17:41

Praying for JDI. xx

Oh ogsh, CF - that sounds so frighening, you poor thing.

Prayers for all here as I read through again.

Just back from big domestic violence conference (church work related) in London. Very very tiring work for me, but it was good. Prayers for all the work of the people doing the work, if people would be kind enough?

Clockface · 10/10/2008 20:13

Praying for Jently and for those whose stories you heard this week, Amber.

Well my loss of sight turned out to be a migraine - something I've never had before. The doctor talked about what had happened, othe symptoms etc and then told me that my eyes are in "pristine condition" and that it was a migraine. It's made me think about the pace of my life - this week has been busy and my so-called "time out" has been filled up with pastoral stuff. Dh has said that IHO I need to make sure I have one day off a week that I rigorously protect. Methinks he is right. I'm very relieved that it wasn't anything more serious.

MarsLady · 10/10/2008 22:15

Thanks ladies. Preachy... am impressed that you cared so much to continually repeat your post lol!

Made my meeting. Now she's slowly progressing but I would love to make it to my Conference tomorrow.

Praise God in the Highest. He's rather amazing!

DutchOma · 11/10/2008 09:33

Praise God indeed, hope you make your conference Mars.
CF, yes good that it wasn't anything more serious than a migraine, bad enough as that is. Your dh is right:- one day off a week is what even God thought it necessary to have
JDI is home, but has to contend with a huge bandage on one wrist.

Notquitegrownup · 11/10/2008 10:08

Flying by to say good morning, and to enjoy Mary's sermon on the reluctant worshippers thread, too.

Praying for all on this thread. God bless. x

CaptainDippy · 11/10/2008 10:11

Poor JDI, hope the healing process is quick for her. Thank you for updating DO

Praise God indeed Marsy Glad you made your meeting, hoping you make the conference today & get a lot from it

Sounds like you need to take it easy CF Praying for opportunities to rest for you my love

Feeling pretty horrid today, please pray this blanket of fear is removed from me soon. It is so hard

Prayers for Marslady for her births to happen in the right order for her

For Preachytheexorcist?s son?s baptism. May there be joy ahead to make up for the hard work, and be a comfort in the sad times after her dh?s Grandad died so unexpectedly. Prayers for all the family.

For MJIM?s close friend?s dad who?s passed away so young, and for strength and courage for the family and for those supporting them too.

For Weegiemum?s driving lessons to be unstressful and lead to great success

For CD who?s feeling low and panicky and could do with some peace and calm and joy.

For FAQ?s phone calls (boy, do I know that feeling if it?s a call I?m not used to making?) and for the survey report on the house to show a good rating.

For Swaliswan, who?s pregnant but can?t track down her midwife. Prayers that she contacts you soon and you get the reassurance you need.

For Loonywoman, who?s feeling panicky and could also do with some calmness and peace in her life right now

For NASWM, who?s not in a good way. May God provide help through this.

For Clockface, who lost sight in one eye for a short time. Prayers that it?s nothing serious and they find a way to not let it happen again.

For Jentlydoneit, who?s had an operation on her wrist, for a lack of pain and a quick recovery.

For MaryBS as she continues through training and encourages us in our faith

For everyone else here too

slapheadsrock · 11/10/2008 16:37

Haven't been u p to writing much recently. Am feeling a little better, just holding onto the fact that GP said tablets take 2 weeks to work.
DH is trying (in the good sense of the word!) and I am getting lots of sleep, cups of tea and he is feeding everyone. If you lived in my house you would know what a miracle that is!

Have had offers of housework and ironing and have no idea what I did to deserve such a great church family.

Lurking in the background and praying for you all.

DutchOma · 11/10/2008 16:53

My guess shr is that you have done a myriad things for the people in your church family and that they are only too pleased to do something for you in return. Bask in it, girl, for it is the love of the Lord which you are being shown here.

CaptainDippy · 11/10/2008 18:06

So glad you are getting lots of help & support from your church family SHR Take it!!! Continuing to pray for you, your DH & your DCs. xx

Praying MM, there's a lot of it about, was not very well either, but not screaming, as far as I know.

JentlyDoesIt · 12/10/2008 20:29

Hey ladies, slowly typing one handed

Thank you to DO for posting and to you all for praying. It was a horrible day, was left all on my own on the ward for hours as I was last on the list. They wouldn't let DP bring DD onto the ward because of "germs" and because there were ladies on there who were having D & C's - I understand this but wish I had been told beforehand.

Anyhoo - op went well, have a lovely neat row of stitches on my wrist, which will come out in 2 weeks. Stroke of luck, my step sis was here from uni for the weekend and is a 5th year med student so she changed the dressing today

Hope everyone is ok and poorly DC's are better soon.
