Cons - you're mutilating your child.

AgnesMcDoo · 05/02/2026 17:29

If you have a medical condition it may correct it in which case your gp will make a referral

otherwise it’s just mutilation and leave the owner of the penis to make the decision when they are old enough

This!

Don't do it.

I had to have a circumcision as an adult due to a medical condition.

If nothing else, it bloody well hurts for a good week afterwards. Why would you put a baby through that?

It also makes sex that bit less fun.

Can't think of a single pro personally.

No pros unless medically necessary

Hoppinggreen · 05/02/2026 18:11

If there is a medical necessity then your GP will refer you to an NHS consultant who is properly qualified and registered and who will operate in a sterile environment with all correct medication etc.

Randomuser2026 · 05/02/2026 18:13

i dated a man who had been circumcised as a baby. he said that his own sons were not and that he had told his parents they shouldn’t have done it.

There’s a report that 90- 95% of adult men report no less of sensation , interesting that you do!

Literally this

AnneLovesGilbert · 05/02/2026 18:16

There’s no justification for cutting healthy tissue off your baby. None.

compared to what?
Unless they have experienced sex both circumcised and uncircumcised how could there actually be any comparison?

Justmerach · 05/02/2026 18:25

I don't know if this is a more cultural thing for you, I know people of other faiths or none can do this to.
If it is a cultural thing perhaps you might consider posting in the Jewish section.

I was assuming it was a study on men, who were circumcised as adults?

Why are you asking, what's the context

There are also reports that 98% of unsourced statistics on the internet are made up.

Most circumsized men won't have a clue, because they had it done as a baby, so won't know how much it's changed.

To give you an idea of the difference, touch your eyeball. That's the level of sensation beforehand. Somewhat painful if you touched it with a dry finger.

And for the first week afterwards, that's what it felt like all the time. Every rub against my underwear, the bed covers, was thoroughly uncomfortable.

And then, just like when you rip a fingernail off and the skin underneath feels horrible for a while but then the sensation deadens, the same thing happens. Which is good, because otherwise walking around would be damn uncomfortable forever.

Unfortunately, alongside the drop in painful sensations, the pleasurable ones drop too.

So what that means is 5-10% of men DO report loss of sensation and that is a high percentage.

Put another way up to 10 in a hundred men experience it and that is high.

Do you really not understand basic percentages?

1 in 1000 would be low. 10 in 100 is common and lots of men will experience it.

Where have I said I don’t understand percentages ?
95% is and was a fairly large majority when I went to school 🤦‍♀️

School is the operative word. You dont understand it in a particular context. Just in the context of primary school maths.

In medicine 5% is high. 10% is high.

Would you have an unnecessary medical procedure that stood a 1 in 10 chance of leaving you with permanent loss of sensation and reduction in sexual pleasure?

🤦🏼‍♀️

But 5-10% isn't that small to make it interesting that PP falls in that category? If the stat was 99.95% to 100% say it might make it interesting that PP falls in the 0.05%, but 5-10% is still fairly sizeable.

I have at no point said that I agree with it for non medical reasons , I don’t . I was simply pointing out that I don’t think 5-10 out of 100 is particularly high , but also admittedly I don’t know the figures of men that have the procedure at an age where they’re already having sex ,
therefore being able to ‘ compare ‘ sensation

I also don’t think many teenage / adult men would be having said procedure unless medically necessary , it was/is often only performed when baby boys are very young for religious / cultural reasons .
Im guessing the OP isn’t taking about a teenager / adult

But the baby wont know any different or know they've lost sensation.

Which religion, are you from the sanctions it?I'd have more respect for you if you said that rather than arguing bizarre statistics
