Well I am full of cold! I'm trying to write my sermon for Sunday today but I might leave it until tomorrow and just go back to bed...

Hope everyone is okay! Hope you all have a good day.

Roseylea · 11/03/2008 16:06

I started my sermon for Palm Sunday (this Sunday) and polished and sent my essays - now they're out of my hands I can stop thinking about them!

The dc are playing "All aboard the {dd's name} train!" in the garden - sweeeeeeeeeeet!

CaptainCaveman · 11/03/2008 20:32

Praying for all who are ill atm - maybe why it's so quiet? I'll text CD and make sure she's ok.

How tragic NSFN, praying for that family.

I just felt the baby wriggling around for a good 5 minutes - only had the odd movement up til now! Praise God for the tiny miracles.

NSFN - how's work going?

Rosey - praising God with you for getting your sermon started and essays completed. Maybe that's why it is so quiet - God has distracted us from posting so you can concentrate on His work instead

Happy Birthday to your dd for tomorrow Panda - I will pray that the tidy-up fairy pays you a visit tonight (after she's finished at mine )

ZipadiSuzy · 11/03/2008 21:21

[yuk] dh & I have a lung infection that has taken over our heads and legs!!!!!

CaptainCaveman · 11/03/2008 21:37

Prayers for you and dh Sooz xxx

CD says Hi but can you please pray for her as she's not feeling too good. Father protect CD with your love and gentle understanding.

MaryBS · 12/03/2008 08:35

Yes, praying for all those who are ill.

Also, please pray for all those who are struggling atm, whether with their faith, their personal circumstances, relationships, whatever. May Jesus enfold them in his arms, may they feel they can come to him as little children, knowing that he will take care of them.

Heavenly Father, remind us each day that, of all the gifts you give us, the greatest gift is love. It is not enough to share that love with those we hold dear. Open our hearts not to just those who are close to us, but to all humanity. Let us be slow to judge and quick to forgive, let us show patience, empathy and love. Amen

notsofarnow · 12/03/2008 10:28

FAQ · 12/03/2008 23:59

just wanted to share the lyrics of a song I've just heard on the radio

it's Steven Curtis Champman's Miracle of the Moment

It's time for letting go
All of our if onlys
'Cause we don't have a time machine
And even if we did
Would we really want to use it?
Would we really want to go change everything?
'Cause we are who and where and what we are for now
And this is the only moment we can do anything about

Chorus:
So breathe it in and breathe it out
Listen to your heartbeat
There's a wonder in the here and now
It's right there in front of you
And I don't want you to miss
The miracle of the moment

There's only one who knows
What's really out there waiting
In all the moments yet to be
And all we need to know
Is He's out there waiting
To Him the futures history
And He has given us a treasure called right now
And this is the only moment we can do anything about
And if it brings you tears

Then taste them as they fall
And let them soften your heart
And if it brings you laughter
Then throw your head back
And let it go, let it go
You gotta let it go
Listen to your heartbeat

Help! I'm looking for ideas on what makes a good Harvest Festival talk! I've been racking my brains, but most of the ideas I've come up with are too "cutesy" or overdone. I need to do this for one of my assignments... so if you think its not appropriate that I ask, then that's fine! . I can't get my head round it because its not "for real"!

NorthernLurker · 13/03/2008 10:53

Mary - we have a book of worship ideas and I've looked in it - it summarises Harvest as being about celebrating the partnership between the care of God for us and all he provides in creation and all that man can offer and do in taking care of that creation. One of the ideas it mentions which I like is that everybody brings food etc in for the Harvest display - so far so traditional - but then instead of that being distributed to a charity by one person from the church - everybody comes up and takes their food back with the mission of giving it to someone they know and conveying of course - that it comes from all the church family. I really like that idea - quite challenging and everyone in the congregation will get to see how God's provision is appreciated and that then feeds into the general theme of thankfuless and celebration.

That's probably not very clear - hope you can make sense of it!

bobsmum · 13/03/2008 11:33

MAry - dh and I led our last harvest service at church and based it round a theme of good stewardship.

ie - we're thankful for a plentiful harvest, but in doing so it's then our responsibility to ensure the "aliens" and "widows" have opportunity to be provided for too. There was a lot of info on the Tearfund site.

We used the OT law/concept of gleaning and read from Ruth too. We then expanded that into a wider message of stewardship for the planet and our responsibility to get more involved in environmental issues. Talked about claiming green issues back from the New Age movement etc because we as Christians have been explictly commanded to take care of the Earth and its inhabitants IYSWIM.

Talked about various Christian organisations involved in agricultural projects across the world like Harvest Help.

Swaliswan · 13/03/2008 14:17

Hey everyone!

Sorry that I haven't posted for a while. I went back to work last week and have been exhausted. Work is going well and so far I've been able to cover child care fairly easily. The work is a mixture of fairly routine/easy/boring clinics and more interesting time in theatre (although I did have to make a quick exit the other day after a very long morning in theatre so that I didn't faint!). DD is doing very well with the childminder and is becoming much more confident around other people.

I would appreciate your prayers for DD though. She has been having problems with her eyes since her vision check on friday and it seems that she now has some sort of eye infection. She also has a cough and is sounding a bit chesty at times. I'm taking her to see the GP later. Her vision check showed that she is short-sighted and has to be checked again in six months. I've been told that her vision will probably deteriorate as she gets bigger.

BTW, I spoke to DO on saturday and she is OK.

Roseylea · 13/03/2008 15:55

Hello y'all! I could do with some prayers. I'm having a day of it and there's a big issue that I need guidance on. Please pray for wisdom! Thank you!

CD - are you around? Are you okay?

NorthernLurker · 13/03/2008 16:07

Hi Rosey - CD is at her mums and is without internet access. I spoke to her last night and she was ok - but as she's managing all her little ones away from home I'm sure she could do with some prayers They're coming home at the weekend I think - so we could pray for a smooth, safe journey for them as well

NorthernLurker · 13/03/2008 16:07

Oh sorry - will pray for your work situaton too!

CaptainCaveman · 13/03/2008 20:54

Evening ladies, praying for you all as ever. I'm especially praying that God will lift the sickness and sadness affecting many of us on here, for many different reasons, and bless us all with His love, comfort, compassion and guidance.

SS, glad work is going ok for you! Sorry to hear about dd, praying her eye is better soon and that the next check up shows good news about her eyesight.

CaptainDippy · 13/03/2008 22:45
