He is Risen Indeed...Hallelujah!

Happy Easter all just back from a couple of days away with friends where we were spoilt rotten and relaxed. Good food, good company and time to just be We made REsurrection cookies with the DC last night - each ingerdient symbolises something in the Easter story, and you do a Bible reading with each ingredient, then seal up the tomb (oven) with tape and go to bed leaving the meringues to cook overnight. Good church service this am, with a fab drama which ties Christams and Easter together really well. My DC were bored though as they like going to groups not a family service [grr}

SS praying for your boob, and your friend's mastitis too CD

FAQ - praying both for your vicar, and for you too honey. I so know what it is like not having the motivation to do any housework, is a downward spiral for me, the worse it gets the worse I feel and the less likely I am to do anything about it.

Mary - sounds like you have had a busy dfew days, praying that God continues to fill you and speak to you. HOw is your friend doing?

Rosey, walking beside the cross, sounds a real witness.

Amber, praying that you will find God, and cut through the disappointment of human frailty and mistakes at the church.

Walnut, praying that you do come to know God for your self in your and God's time.

much love to you all xxx

amber32002 · 23/03/2008 21:06

Goodness me, definitely praying for the vicar too.

How did it go? It went really well, all things considered. A lovely lady sat with me (entirely coincidentally as she was new to the church too) and we talked about children and services etc, and they had good service sheets that said what I had to do (really, really helps...). I was right by the doors, so I knew that if it was entirely too much I could make a quiet exit. I coped with Communion, and sharing The Peace (though was a little alarmed by the hugging going on round me), and the only scary bit was the sprinkling of holy water on everyone, which I didn't know they did in churches. Oh, and the bit where I got the offering plate and there was no-one to take it from me so I was left thinking "oh dear, what happens now?!"

What a relief to be back in church again.

Now I have to build up the courage to go the next times and hope people don't expect me to "just fit in and make lots of new friends", because that's the bit I find the hardest to work out how to do, and people don't realise it's harder for me than the first time I'm there, in a way.

He is Risen Indeed...Hallelujah!

Not a regular on these threads, but just wanted to wish all you lovely ladies a very Happy Easter

CaptainCaveman · 24/03/2008 08:46

HALLELUJAH!!! Jesus is our risen Lord

We've been up in Cleethorpes for a friend's 40th and had lots of fun. They had about 10cms of snow by yesterday morning - shame ds wasn't with us as he would have loved it!!

Mufti, I loved The Passion of the Christ, very graphic but it gave me some kind of insight into the suffering Jesus must have gone through prior to His crucifixion . I also watched The Passion on Friday evening and I was sobbing (moved by the Holy Spirit or pg hormones?!! Both probably!!).

Amber - well done on getting to church, praise God for He was with you! I've been going to our church now for 8 years and there are still loads of people whose names I don't know!! Still, all's that matters is we are genuinely friendly to one another. I know what you mean about sharing The Peace too - it freaked me out first time I went to church, I just wasn't expecting all that contact with others. All good now though, Praise God for His church family.

Love and Easter blessings to you all. In celebration of Easter, baby CC has decided to get active and start giving me a good kicking 19+4 today.

podglet · 24/03/2008 09:15

Hi all,

Hope you all had a fab Easter, it sounds all very uplifting with some lovely experiences.

We had a fab time away, I loved being in my grans house, it was extremely peaceful and I felt that she was with us, even though she wasn't (no sense I know but I hope you understand) the only thing I really didn't like was seeing her empty chair in the evenings If you know of anyone who wants a bungalow on the South Coast, tell them to look here

Lunch with the nasty SIL was bearable too PIL were there too which helped "dilute" it a bit but she still got a few stings in such as "the size of your stomach makes me feel ill" would much rather have come to see you CD

Enjoy the BH everybody, CC, really pleased mini Cavey is giving you an internal beating, such fun! I watch DD totally change position on Sat night, think she has gone head down, not sure if she has engaged yet

ZipadiSuzy · 24/03/2008 19:27

Podglet - I'm sorry your SIL was mean to you, what a horrible comment, prayers you may always rise above those cutting remarks.

Bungalow looks spectacular, I'd love to live there, the rooms are so cosy, unfortunately our budget doesn't quite match

CC - Lovely to have baby caveman wriggling, so sweet and re-assuring

CD - When do you get to rest with this new job, I bet you are shattered!

Slubberdequillion - Welcome to the thread, please keep in touch, newbies always welcome, I'm sooz 46 dh54 ds1 12, dtwins 4, Nottinghamshire.

Myjobismum - prayers for the scan tomorrow, aw its the best time, when you see the whole baby (usually with hand on head or itching nose)

Amber - Glad god was with you yesterday in church, perhaps it may give you more confidence for next time, you did better than me, I didn't get to church at all

Well we have all had a treat today, a friend took us to Twinlakes in Melton Mowbray for the day, we had a fab time, I've just had to thaw out in the bath proud of the children, all stunningly behaved (1st time for everything)

Prayers to you all xxxxx

CaptainDippy · 24/03/2008 19:58

Hi Sooooooz! Any idea when you guys are going to venture to the SnowDome - I am sooo excited and I am not even going I didn't go to church yesterday either

Ahem.

Yes, Amber - sooo wonderful you made it to church

Ooooh, scan tomorrow MJIM

Rest!!!? Rest!!!? Rest is for the weak!!

OP posts:
CaptainCaveman · 24/03/2008 21:32

Well whaddayaknow Sooz, we nearly went to twin lakes today too, but I couldn't persuade dh as he thought it was too cold (wuss). Have you been before? I love it there, I assume ds does too

Praying for peace for you MJIM for your scan tomorrow. Isn't it wonderful to think that God already knows your lo intimately, has plans for him/her and knows what they look like etc? I keep feeling little kicks and trying to picture the mini one inside me, so tiny and so precious. I'm stunned every day that God chose that little person to be inside me . What time is your scan?

CD, when does your eldest girlie start school? Did you find out yet what school she will be going to? Ds starts in January, we should find out tomorrow if we've been successful with our application to the local church controlled school. Praying for the letters to arrive tomorrow (should have been here a week ago!)

MaryBS · 24/03/2008 21:45

My mum, brother and SIL and their 2 are going to twinlakes next Sunday...

(I went 3 times at Easter, 2 vigils plus 1 daytime ).

Oo I never told you, I turned up Sunday, at 10:20, for 10:30 service, to be told we had no priest, could I do something? (I am not entirely sure they were joking either). Before I could replied, our vicar walked in, having been called back from one of our other churches...

Panda - saw my friend on Sunday, she's not saying much, keeping a brave face. She doesn't confide in me anymore anyway, so difficult to say for definite how she is... please keep praying for her...

DutchOma · 25/03/2008 07:26

Praying for MJIM's scan and for Mary's friend.
Praying for all 'beans'
Praying for all people who were baptised on Sunday that they will have protection from the evil one and feel secure in their salvation.
Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today and tomorrow. Hallelujah

notsofarnow · 25/03/2008 07:44

Morning all. That bungalow is absolutely gorgeous, the gardens are spectacular, mine is a tip in comparison.

Hope you all have good a good day. I'm off to slimming world this morning and then dd at psycologist at 1.30.

prayers for all.

ZipadiSuzy · 25/03/2008 11:27

CD - We are waiting for weatherproof clothing from e-bay to arrive before we go to snowdome, probably in 3 or 4 weeks time.

CC - No we have never been to twinlakes, I can't justify spending that much money, it cost my friend £45 for us to go in, they have a yearly ticket, which if you go often is well worth it, they have been 3 times in a week dc really enjoyed themselves.

Prayers for this beautiful sunny Monday

amber32002 · 25/03/2008 13:16

Thank you everyone for your prayers and kind words. CC, I knew they'd do The Peace - I've endured it many a time before - it's just immensely difficult for me because of the disability . I do know how important it is for everyone else, though, so I do it anyway.

More prayers for all...

myjobismum - glad the scan went ok, lovely little bean pictures!

Roseylea · 26/03/2008 10:49

Hello all!

MJIM - gorgeous pics! I've just read on your profile that you want to become a midwife - what an amazing job! (I couldn't do it..)

Praying for all who post and read here, esp. FAQ's lovely vicar and all who are suffering.

So... shall I start thinking about organising a meet-up? I have a few ideas of places we can go (I need to talk very nicely to certain people to get them to let us use their church halls!). If you'd like to go for it sometime in the summer, I'll start orgainsing things. This is going to be in West Herts if that's okay with everyone,
which is accesible from the M25 and M1 and is reasonably good for trains, coaches etc.

DutchOma · 26/03/2008 11:08

CaptainCaveman · 26/03/2008 18:58

Yes please Rosey!

Ds didn't get into the church school we were hoping for, despite having the letter of support from our vicar. I still haven't received the confirmation letter from the local council yet - I had to ring up yesterday to find out.
The school he has been placed in is fine, but it isn't church controlled like the other one we chose. Also, not sure about before and after school clubs at the school he will be going to. Must go and see them next week to find out more! Prayers for me to stop worrying about it would be much appreciated!

Amber I didn't know you had a disability - sorry if my post upset you, that wasn't the intention (((amber)))

ZipadiSuzy · 26/03/2008 19:06

We received our letter today, accepting twins into our 1st choice school, we chose the closest, don't really have a religious choice, just the 3 local schools.

Start my new teaching job tomorrow, getting really scared now, need to do session plans TONIGHT as we have a new teaching plan to follow that I am not quite familar with yet! [nerves emotion)

DS's clothing has been delivered from e-bay for the snow dome, just waiting on dd's then off we go!!!!!!!

amber32002 · 26/03/2008 21:46

CC, goodness no, I'm not in the least upset and I'm always happy to explain. I'm on the autistic spectrum - Asperger's Syndrome, though people who've known me quite a while in business or charity things often don't guess as I'm pretty good at disguising it. It's only in social things, or when I'm tired, or when I'm in a faith setting, that things really start to 'fall apart' for me fairly fast, because I can't "see" people's reactions and emotions. It's a bit like being blind, in a way. If people touch me unexpectedly, it really is unexpected, and whilst my brain is very fast at some things, it doesn't "switch off" or "turn the surprise-factor off", so I end up exhausted if too many surprising/unexpected things happen. It hasn't stopped me having a good job, a lovely hubby and son, and lots of friends who accept me for who I am, so I am blessed in those respects. It's just very awful when I find people who are very prejudiced, and there are some, unfortunately. It's why my confidence in church was shattered and has had to be so painstakingly rebuilt.

MaryBS · 26/03/2008 22:05

No need to blush... just so long as people don't find out us Aspies are taking over the world . I'm so chuffed for you Amber, finding a church!

CaptainCaveman · 27/03/2008 07:31

Good luck for today Sooz!!

Thanks for explaining that Amber, and well done for finding a new church!!

I need some prayer re. ds' school place allocation. I cannot decide what to do - whether to appeal or not. I believed it was God's will for ds to go to whichever school he got in to, and now that it won't be the church school we envisaged my belief is a bit wobbly. Hmmmm. If I appeal, it feels a bit like I am questioning God's judgement here (iyswim?).
Am also worried about after school provision where ds will be going - we didn't check it out as we felt sure he would get into the other school. So now I am worrying that I won't be able to work the hours that I do in case there is no after school clubs. Worrying about nothing? Moi??
