Spiritual Warfare?

I only learned about this theory during the major lockdown from some evangelists. Just wondering if other walks of Christianity think this goes on to?

Have you ever experienced it do you think?

Say in your spiritual journey to get closer to God, has it ever seemed like each action you made to further your commitment to God, you received a knock back in your real life that gave you difficulty/stress/illness etc?

I feel like it's happening to me as crazy as it seems.

Sorry, I think my last post is clumsily worded. Yes, there is a spiritual dimension to our struggles but the important thing is we overcome this by focusing on God and not the struggles.

Psalm 46-1
"God is our refuge and strength,
an ever-present help in trouble." (NIV)

John 12:44-45
"44 Then Jesus cried out, “Whoever believes in me does not believe in me only, but in the one who sent me. 45 The one who looks at me is seeing the one who sent me." (NIV)

Psalm 14:5-6
"5
But there they are, overwhelmed with dread,
for God is present in the company of the righteous.
6
You evildoers frustrate the plans of the poor,
but the Lord is their refuge."(NIV)

Deuteronomy 31:6
"Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.” (NIV)

This made me smile so much. So lovely and on point.

@SomethinStrangeIsGoingOn I believe spiritual warfare exists, definitely. As a pp said, the best way is to not concern yourself about it, imagining the hows and whys. Continue to trust snd focus on God having good plans for your future. Plans for your good and not evil.

One of my dad's favourite topics is the armour of God passage in Ephesians. We are told to wear it " put on the armour of God" with the purpose of being able to" stand our ground" when the" day of evil comes" . This is defensive. We are not supposed to go marching into battle with evil forces. The less we mention them and give recognition to them the better.
Christ has the victory and gives us the armour we need to be safe and STAND. That is all we need.

@TheBeautifulMoors, yes I like those quotes. I'm sure there are many many more but they are good to think on. I also sometimes think also about how iconography is used in the Orthodox Church as a very visceral reminder and focus - the way symbolism can bring people right back and centre their focus back to God. Not as a 'magic' item but as something that centres the focus back.

@hihellohihello funny you mention iconography but I can't help but see the "cross" in all sorts of things. I've trained myself to see it, even in fall branches on the ground as an example and I make sure I thank God for his sacrifice every time.

@SomethinStrangeIsGoingOn, that reminds me of the cross of nails found in Coventry Cathedral. You can think about the hope too in it. Some churches prefer an empty cross to emphasise Christ risen. Some like to have Christ on the cross to remember His sacrifice. I don't think people have to get obsessive with symbolism and iconography but it can act as a touching reminder throughout the day.
