Raven at my window

A Raven just tried to land on my window sill at work. Looked me straight in the eye and flapped about a lot.

Can’t say I’m feeling very happy about that.

Are they always a bad omen?

@HunterGatherer, Grin I love crows!

Corvids are wonderful birds: Intelligent and playful. I suspect part of the bad press about ravens is that they just look pretty intimidating! Also, in Celtic mythology they are associated with the Morrigan (goddesses of death and battle) most likely because, as carrion birds, they’d be seen after a battle, erm, ‘cleaning up’. If a corvid has chosen to pay a visit, I’d consider it a protective omen if anything. There are superstitions about birds inside the house but only bad if the bird is sick or dying. A healthy bird paying a visit should be seen as a ‘hello’ from Nature. Give him some treats and all the neighbouring crows will love you too (they talk to each other and they remember faces).

I had a raven in my garden a year or so ago, it couldn’t fly (was poorly). Amazing birds. I called bird rescue and they came and collected him the next day. He didn’t bring me any bad luck, I felt privileged that he found me and that I could get him help 🙂. I have seen another since in my garden.

Well, yes. Vulture populations waining cause many problems overseas because it means dead animal carcasses and other refuse are just left to rot which causes disease.

Sounds like it could be a Rook op.

Definitely crows. I’ve been watching them. There’s usually two at my business premises and recently I keep finding two in my garden at home Smile

Pretty sure it’s two sets of pairs as they seem to be working together as a team. Lovely to watch now I’ve reined in my fear Grin
