DD has freaked me out(long)

I moved into my house 1 yr ago and when i first moved in some strange things happened. We heard laughter and someone repeated what i had said, both me and DH heard it. One night, i came home and went up to the bedroom. We have 2 built in wardropes, two freestanding and one chest of drawers. There are also various drawers on the wardropes. Anyway they had all been opened. My first instinct was that we had been robbed but nothing was taken. I did speak to someone who has lived in the road all her life and she said the only person who had died in the house was an old man. The house was built near an old mental hospital that was later used to house TB sufferers until their death and my sister and friend live in the area and they had some strange things happen aswell. Anyway it became a bit of a running joke and nothing much has happened since we first moved in apart from things like toys going off on their own and spoons falling in the kitchen without any explanation of where they came from. Then the other morning my DD(22m) came downstairs and was adamant that grandad(she calls any old man grandad, even max on the tweenies) was in our out-house that is attached to the kitchen. she never goes out there so i presumed that she had dreamt it and carried on getting ready for work. However, she became very distressed screaming and pulling at the handle. I asked her what she wanted and she started pointing out the window in mid air saying "grandad".She seemed very upset that i couldn't see anything. I decided to let her out there and carry on and as i listened she was playing and laughing. When it was time to go i went out there and she looked at me then pointed to mid air again and said grandad. I told her it was time to go and pulled her through to the kitchen. With that she turned round and said come on to mid air and then as if told they couldn't come she said ok bye bye and quite happily followed me through. She hasn't mentioned it since and i have kind of brushed it of but the other part of me is wondering if there is more to the old man story!!!!

Thank you Snugs. Have to go with dd to doctor this morning, but if it is okay with you, can I contact you through CAT or another thread perhaps. This thread is for the kids after all!

The AOL board sounds very interesting. I have done Reiki 1 - will have to look in my book to see if there is any symbology that would be good.

Papillon · 22/11/2004 08:03

although just reading your message spikeycat sounds like you would appreciate knowing how to deal with this more too. Snugs did mention asking them gently that you wish them to move on, especially when it is not comfortable for you.

I have done that b4 to beings that appeared at the end of the bed while my boyfriends was sleeping and they left immediately.

I am extremely interested in all of your threads...especially the bit about being emotionally charged....The first 6 months in my house i was extremely stressed and when i think, thats when the majority of the stuff happened....I was alone on saturday in the house and i tried to encourage whoever it was forward... (I dont know exactly how to do this so i was just asking for a sign like they do on mosthaunted :-)) Anyway i have to say the place seemed comfortable and i was happy just sitting there in the peace and quiet...

krisked - sorry about the hijacked thread

If you intend to ask anything to step forward and give you a sign, it is always a good idea to protect yourself first. Not trying to scare you, don't mean anything nasty will be lurking. Visualise a golden light around yourself, like a globe, and ask any guardians to step forward first. They act as spiritual gatekeepers and keep out any unwelcome types.
Your dd is showing a natural psychic ability that all kids have - and simply can't understand that you can't see what she can. If she does it again, best advice is to simply go along with it - maybe even gently question her - but don't deny that what she is seeing is real. Denial is what shuts down the ability - kids believe it is wrong or just imagination and the gift quietly dies.

Same goes for you too spikeycat - visualise protection for yourself and keep telling your nan that you love her, but you aren't ready. She is just trying to let you know she is still around for you - but she will understand if it is overwhelming you and hopefully back off until you feel more comfortable with the idea. I don't think she is visiting your mum in her dreams - it is unlikely she would do anything to distress her. It is more likely that the dreams are simply a part of the grief process and will go away in time.

Paps - CAT me.

Another question.... In the last few months or so i have been watching the most haunteds Lives. On there they do seances. My DH thinks that as they are live on TV and in effect I am taking part in them the seance is also taking part in my living room??? Any comments/advice?? Is it the place or words that are important in a seance!!

OP posts:
Snugs · 22/11/2004 12:59

IMO you are not taking part in a seance just by watching it on tv - have never watched Most Haunted so can't comment on the validity of their seances anyway.

However - I suppose it is possible that if you have any (unknown?) mediumistic talents then by watching the programme you could find yourself in the right frame of mind to receive stuff.

Has never happened to me but who knows?

Snugs · 22/11/2004 13:07

Sorry - didn't answer 2nd question.

Place or words aren't really important at all. The main thing in any spirit communication is the ability of someone present to hear/see (or whatever other talent they have) the spirit - normally an experienced medium. However, many people have latent mediumistic abilities so in any given bunch of friends deciding to hold a seance - the chances are someone there will effect the outcome. Thats why so many people scare themselves witless by pratting around without really knowing what they are doing.

Does that make sense?

Yes it does, thank you.

I really dont think i have those types of powers....I did try psychic writing once and it didn't work and wouldn't dare try anything else when i dont know what i am doing....I would love to be able to do it but I cant be that receptive. Im glad i dont have to give up my Most haunted, its great entertainment!

As much as I am a believer I am also very logical and would have to do a Hercule Poirot style investigation to satisfy myself that all rational explanations had been discounted first

But spirits can have quite a profound physical effect if they try hard enough so, yes, it could have been.

(retires quietly to sit on fence)

Snugs · 22/11/2004 13:27

sorry - that was to Socci.

Krisked - don't discount the possibility that you have an ability. I think everyone has, but for the majority it is buried so deep it is unlikely to emerge. Just because psychic writing didn't work doesn't mean nothing else could.

I have always been aware of my abilities but deliberately buried them for many years. Since letting them come out and indeed working to improve them I have discovered new things that I couldn't do before. We can constantly learn and develop - we just have to choose to do so.

JuniperDewdrop · 22/11/2004 13:29

Krisked, I think you can become more 'involved' in the spirit world by watching MH as I see/experience things whilst it's on and I know other viewers do. Especially the live shows.

JuniperDewdrop · 22/11/2004 13:30

Krisked if you're really interested in the spirit world could you get to your local Spiritualist church meetings? They usually have them during the day for those interested in developing abilities.

Hi socci, I see hazy movement and bright lights though I do see the lights at other times. I shouldn't really believe in such things being a Christian so I'm in a bit of a turmoil at the moment. I pray for protection though and believe I will be guided one way or the other if I persevere.

The lights.... thats a big thing in my house....I see them on a daily basis, sometimes out of the corner of my eye...other time flashes that i can distinctively point to. My partner hasn't seen the lights and told me to get my eyes tested, i did and nothing.went to the doctor to get cholestral tests done and everything, still nothing...could that be paranormal? Sorry at first i thought it was and then I thought it must be just me.

krisked - again, logical and paranormal explanation coming -

Logically, it could be something simple called floaters, these are microscopic bits of cells floating in your eyes. Most people have them, but usually aren't aware of them. Very common in peripheral vision. If they increase dramatically in number or frequency it can be a sign of wear and tear or eye problems.

Paranormally, yes they could be visual signs that you are aware of spirit. When you see them in the corner of your eye, don't spin round trying to see them better - guarantee they'll vanish! Try asking who is there, or what they want (do it in your head if you feel daft talking to thin air).

I get these - combination of floaters and psychic flashes. I can now tell them apart - but it took years of practice to distinguish between them. They are worse in summer/bright light - can get a bit like the blindspots you get after a camera flash IYKWIM

krisked · 22/11/2004 14:11

floaters - there the small white specks?? Im just asking because the lights i see and the only way i can describe them are like shooting stars with a tail. Normally going from one side of the room to another but always higher than my head and so if im watching tv i have to look up. And also the light as described further down the thread where it was behind me in a reflection but not there when i actually looked, yet when i turned back to my reflection it was there.

Is that what you get Juniperdewdrop???

JuniperDewdrop · 22/11/2004 14:14

my lights are smaller but yours do sound paranormal to me krisked.

I saw one recently above dh's head after asking for angelic help. Next day his phone was dead and it was in a pocket right next to the light. Apparently spirits can drain cameras so probably phones too. Oh and he'd just charged it btw.

JuniperDewdrop · 22/11/2004 14:15

Now that I'm 'talking' about it I can feel cold around me but the room is warm? It's like a cold breeze up my arms and getting stronger as I'm writing. I'm not scared honest!!

Snugs · 22/11/2004 14:19

Like you said yourself Juniper, you can tune in just by thinking about it. That is what developing is all about - increasing your abilities but also learning to control them.
Agree that your lights do sound paranormal/spiritual krisked
