Or Wiccans. or Pagans? Or anyone who is interested in a magical path or feels some magical stirrings.

A place for support, learning, swapping ideas and magical inspiration.

Blanktimes I love what you say here:
Ritual is usually high in concentration and focus, spreading magic everywhere even in the mundane is more of a natural flow, doing everyday things with positive intentions

Like speakout I think it’s a great summary of the essence of everyday magic.

TheLastLotus, My everyday practices look very much like those described by speakout and Violet and I think it’s essentially about confident and intuitive use of the same ‘ingredients’ we would use in a more planned ritual or spell to weave magic throughout life.

As our wise sisters describe so beautifully, it’s about infusing everyday experiences with mindfulness and intent to a large extent.

With knowledge of the correspondences we’d use in ritual/spell work we can always add a little magic to whatever we’re doing.

So with an idea of herbal correspondences we can stir specific energy into our everyday cooking, same goes for use of colour, moon phases, elemental energy, stones, moon water and so on. Commonly used items such as mirrors can be used, for instance, to deflect unwanted energy, return it to the sender. An encounter with wildlife brings its own symbolism and we can take learning from the traits they represent.

For me it’s all about using previously studied/intuited symbolism/correspondences and weaving them throughout our everyday experience, makes for a more magical existence. I like that there’s always something I can use to aid a situation without having to go away and plan a big ritual (which is powerful too at the right time) and really it’s the way we chose to focus and generate energy that’s the real magic. I agree there’s been some wonderful discussion on this as we’ve progressed through the threads, well worth a read.

Wishing everyone a magical day

On another note, in keeping with our recurring theme of self compassion, I thought these words were beautiful. Others may already have seen this but I wanted to share in case it spoke to anyone who may have not:

“Bring your anxiety into your heart, draw your fear into your warmth, bring your sorrow into the beauty of your soul.

Grow a tongue tender and brave, leaving the cold, hard, poison voice of shame and criticism behind and whisper.

Whisper into the centre of those feelings as you draw them near

“ What are you needing me to hear? “

For within their shaky voice and your own love and respect, is a learning.
Some medicine that leads you closer to you, closer to freedom.

Thanks everyone for you advice! Relaxing with a nice bowl of ginger soup and getting into the zone

@Aerwyna that's lovely

Sounds divine! Ginger is such a warming spice, will give you an energetic boost, great for nurturing confidence, optimism and courage.
Who would have known that eating lunch is so magical!

OP posts:
Aerwyna · 07/05/2021 13:08

Magic indeed! Funny I was just thinking the same of my leftover stir fry lunch, full of the zing of ginger and chilli, alchemy at work!

VioletCharlotte · 08/05/2021 17:00

This thread is making me hungry! I love ginger.

Wild and windy here today - proper witchy weather! I've been working with the wind, harnessing the energy to shift the mood that's been lingering in the house after a challenging few days at work. I love working from home, but the downside is that any work related negativity lingers in my home, rather than being left in the office.

I've got the house to myself this afternoon and evening for the first time in a while, so I'm making the most of having some time to myself to relax and unwind. Love to you all.

speakout · 08/05/2021 18:14

VioletCharlotte

So glad you are having time to relax. Witchy weather here today too.
I rarely get an empty house, but family members like their own space too, so it is often quiet as others find cosy corners for themselves to relax and unwind.
Your evening sounds peaceful, I hope you enjoy.

Sending solar energy to my sisters this morning.
Although the sunny morning has given way to another tottential downpour.
A lovely morning in the garden doing sawing and drilling, making a cat toilet.
DD has been witness to a large amount of psychic disturbance while working yesterday, had to call me several times and she was a little spooked, her assistant witnessed the things too.Turns out the place she was working has quite a history. My feeling is of benevolent energy, calling out over the years.
Little echoes, shadows, worm holes in time.

I hope everyone is having a bright calm day.

OP posts:
VioletCharlotte · 09/05/2021 11:30

Speakout I hope your DD isn't too spooked. The building sounds interesting. My belief is that these kind of energies are attracted to sensitive people whose own energy shines brightly. Are you able to share any more about the history of the building?

No rain here today, I've just been out for a walk in the woods with my dog. Everything's so green at the moment, the woods were so peaceful with only the birdsong disturbing the silence. I was able to truly immerse myself for a little while without disturbance from other people. We finished our walk with a visit to the pond to see the cygnets and ducklings. My soul feels soothed after a little time in nature.

speakout · 09/05/2021 11:54

VioletCharlotte I love the sound of your walk. I love the green too, it's so energising.

My DD is ok, normally a huge sceptic, but can feel the energy of the building.
It's an old church, in a rural town, I have been doing some research, saw the trials, torture and execution of dozens of women during the burning times.
The church was at the centre of the atrocities.
I think these souls just want to be listened to. I would just say a few words to let them know I understand, I hear them, and perhaps lay a little offering in recognition of the torment they suffered.
It's up to my daughter of course.
Perhaps the spirits are curious because of the day long dancing- 8 dance classes on a Saturday- bright young people and music may be moving energies in the dusty old building.

OP posts:
Aerwyna · 09/05/2021 12:22

Absolutely fascinating speakout, your DD has your sensitivity to energy of places, those who were there before. Amazing how these echoes through time are felt by sensitive souls. I love your idea of acknowledging their torment, so respectful and healing. It makes me so angry every time I hear of the atrocities of the church throughout history.

Violet so pleased to hear of your evening to relax and your walk this morning. Those cygnets sound divine, swans are such wonderful creatures aren’t they, full of grace and loyalty, incredibly powerful and protective. It’s no wonder they feature in so much folklore, they have such energy and presence.

That walk in the woods sounds lovely!

Interesting about the church - there’s one near us that feels very safe, and another that is so ancient (14th century, but there’s been a church on that spot since at least the 8th century AD) and just feels powerful (and as if there’s quite a lot of whatever beliefs folk held before Christianity lingering there too) - I love it but lots of people I’ve spoken to find it a bit spooky.

Lovely weekend despite the torrential rain yesterday. Scoured some old cotton for plant dyeing on Saturday, and got into the garden to plant out potatoes and do some desperately-needed weeding today.

speakout · 09/05/2021 15:47

Verbena87

Your dyeing sounds amazing- wonderful to work some colour magic.
Your old church sounds so interesting too.
Churches were often built on sacred land or places dedicated to pagan religions, a way christianity had of obliterating folk beliefs.
Often excavations of old church buildings reveal stories from our pagan past- the Pillar of the Boatmen at Notre Dam being a famous example.
Often christianity - and other Abrahamic faiths amalgamated pagan beliefs into the faith.
The worship of the virgin Mary in Ireland for instance- the Goddess religion was so strong there it was easier to slip in a substitute female version of the goddess in the guise of a christian figure.

Violet that sounds lovely, you really have found some harmony, it's such a blessing.

Well done your DD for ringing you and asking what to do Speakout music and sounds are well-known for raising energies.

Verbena the home dyeing sounds fabulous, no-one else will have yarns in those colours, that's certainly magic!

In the UK, many churches were built on ancient sites, this one at Alton Priors has the removed neolithic standing stones in a cabinet beneath its floor www.megalithic.co.uk/article.php?sid=10053 many others have them stored away or carved into later designs depicting their religion. The old ways were stamped out and literally demonised by the patriarchy as were the people who followed their natural cycles.

The conversion in Ireland happened so differently, really it happened alongside, not instead of what was already practised there. Many of the ancient places were left and still today they aren't touched as they are revered as 'fairy' sites including ancient stones, wells, thorns, trees, you get the idea. Even nowadays it's hard to walk or drive anywhere in ROI without seeing visible signs of an area that's treated with acknowledgement and respect for its otherness. Even today, people petition their councils to divert roads around fairy raths or thorn trees or other otherworldly places. It's very much a living tradition over there and it is a vast contrast to the attitude in the UK where anyone advocating such a thing would be held up to public ridicule.

speakout · 09/05/2021 18:49

BlankTimes Thank you- you are always such a wonderful resource of information- you are a gift to this group.
Dreadful to hear of the removal of stones from Alton Priors demonising our heritage. And so much is undocumented. There are caves not far from me - near Roslin- with lots of spiral cuts and grooves. No serious analysis has been carried out. Also this monkey/fish carved into a rock on a cliff face I saw recently.
Intruiging too to hear of the road diversions in Ireland- I have hear of that in Iceland- routes diverted to respect the Huldufólk- the hidden fae.

It's not just Alton Priors, it's a high percentage of churches that are built on ancient sites they destroyed.

Sometimes they couldn't move the stones so built next to them.

Also think how many have ancient yew trees in their grounds that are hundreds of years older than the buildings.

2017 article in Ireland about not demolishing fairy fort for a road scheme. www.independent.ie/regionals/kerryman/news/they-cant-interfere-with-a-fort-36082234.html

Oooh, what a strange face that is in the cliff near you, even stranger that I feel I've seen it before, but I can't place it.

Must fly and magic up food for this evening. Tody started in a very unexpected magical wy, let's hope that continues.Halloween Wink

hilariousnamehere · 09/05/2021 21:34

I learn so much from you wonderful wise women Halloween Grin

HillsBesideTheSea · 10/05/2021 01:54

Me too.

I spent today in nature. It is normally a day that i dread. this year i discovered it is not the day that i dread, it is spending the time with people who feel they can claim it on this day. This year I made my own choices and stopped it from happening. Ergo it was a day i actually enjoyed.

Verbena87 · 10/05/2021 16:57

Really interesting the difference between English and Irish approaches to introducing Christianity. I hadn’t thought about it in those terms before but it definitely makes sense in terms of what you see.

And yes, yew trees (churchyard or otherwise) are amazing - recently read the hidden life of trees by Peter Wohllenbau and there are yews in there thousands of years old. Mind-bending!

VioletCharlotte · 10/05/2021 19:54

Speakout thanks for the image of the face in the cliff. It reminds me of something else I've seen, but I can't think what! It gives me a sense of being watched over.

I'm feeling relaxed after this evenings Zoom yoga class. I'm delighted at the news classes can start up again indoors from 17 May in England. Practising yoga at home is good, but I miss the way the energy builds in a class, and I'm really looking forward to seeing everyone again.

speakout · 11/05/2021 06:43

VioletCharlotte
Yoga classes start here again too- very limited timetable, and my favourite early morning class does't seem to be running yet.
Yes it will be good to raise energy in the same space.
I yearn for a workshop, a day long event would be wonderful. But not to be just yet.
I have a class booked at a yoga centre on Monday- will be very exciting- even though a class and a place I have never visited before.
In the meantime I continue with youtube!

Speakout oh yes, a day long workshop would be wonderful! A chance to completely switch off and immerse yourself in yoga...hopefully it won't be too much longer now.
