@Zebra13 Please don't feel alone, we are here listening if it helps. I'm so sorry. Of course I will pray for you to come through this traumatic time. I'm so glad I found this little place here. Wrap the prayers of the good people here around you.

coffeecup88 · 11/05/2021 19:07

Oh @Zebra13 Thanks

Madhairday · 11/05/2021 22:18

@Zebra13 oh dear one, you are not alone, God sees your pain and hears your weeping. I pray that you will know his peace as you speak out your hurting to him. We are here Flowers

@coffeecup88 I pray that you may know the peace of God that passes all understanding. He knows all you need and is with you.

@IntrovertEm how are you getting on? You have been on my heart. Praying you are assured by God's great love.

I am struggling with a chest infection, so prayers appreciated here.

Oshikundu · 11/05/2021 22:43

@Madhairday Thank you for all that you do here to support us, in my prayers Flowers

coffeecup88 · 17/05/2021 18:00

Can anyone explain to me the threads about marriages being recognised by the Catholic Church? I don't understand these at all. I can't imagine my marriage to DH being invalid in any circumstances so I'm finding the threads a bit confusing (I've been snooping on them). I'm obviously not catholic.

Thank you for your prayers.
I have continued to bounce from stress to stress but I'm just keeping my head down and carrying on it the hope it'll let up soon. Smile

Hi all. Can I join? I am a Christian and have been on MN since 2009 but haven't ever joined this thread as I have wanted to avoid arguments with people who have different beliefs.

For some reason I'm over that now! Been a Christian since I was 17, my husband is a minister and we go to an independent evangelical church. Moving at the end of the year after 20 years here!

I love Mumsnet- it's hilarious and supportive in its own way! Looking forward to hearing about what's going on for us all!

@RafaIsTheKingOfClay that does sound complicated. Thank you!
And thank you for your prayers. I've been a bit rubbish recently but did muster an Our Father last night.

Hi @Peachypips78 nice to 'meet' you. Looking forward to hearing your argument worthy views

Thank you @Madhairday for your prayers, I also hope your chest infection is clearing up.

Thinking of you @Zebra13. Rafals is right, you are not alone

coffeecup88 · 17/05/2021 19:38

@Peachypips78 that message was meant to include a Wink

Peachypips78 · 17/05/2021 19:52

I have no argument-worthy views - but just didn't want to be attacked for being a Christian when I wasn't feeling 100%! Although I'm sure that doesn't happen here.

I have no original thoughts 😂

coffeecup88 · 17/05/2021 19:55

Haha oh well I'm disappointed now Grin

I'm really sad that being attacked is still a thing, I suppose I keep my head down on Mumsnet and just browse or lurk or whatever it's called. Are you moving onto another independent church @Peachypips78? I had a friend determined I need to find an independent/non conformist church to try out but I think it's more intimidating that going to a local c of e service.

coffeecup88 · 17/05/2021 20:03

Great news @RafaIsTheKingOfClay, are you planning for return to normal after 21st June?

It good to have to option of an evening I think, sounds tricky with numbers

Dutchoma · 17/05/2021 21:49

And there was I thinking this thread was a bit dead and I come back and there are 14 messages. How lovely. Welcome Peepychips, no you won’t be attacked here for being Christian, nor anything else, although we have very different views on things.
Marriage in a Catholic church, I had no idea it was so complicated.
We had hoped to go back to choir practice and singing in church, but although there will still be 7 or 8 choir members present in the service, it is felt that more than six people for choir practice is not being allowed, which is a big disappointment. I am allowed in three out of five services, which is nice. The other two I will be with a friend in her house and celebrate the Eucharist with her.

Welcome @Peachypips78! This is a safe and welcoming thread. You're right, other threads on MN can get a little...umm...combative at times, and it can be hard going if you're not in a great place. I go on and off them depending on how I'm doing. It's good to see you here.

Thanks people for asking - infection has cleared up well which is great as I'm on holiday next week. Just hoping I don't get another one soon now I'm mixing more - it's one of my biggest worries that it'll hit me too hard after being so isolated / shielding.

I'm sorry, I don't know anything about Catholic weddings!

Our church is back in person and online, we've had our worship group for a while but the congregation aren't allowed to sing yet. I can't wait and think everyone will be singing their hearts out. Oma you must be excited about choir in person!

coffeecup88 · 18/05/2021 09:20

Talking about being attacked I could do with some advice. But don't want to post about the circumstances on here. Anyone go time for a pm?

Peachypips78 · 18/05/2021 10:03

@coffeecup88 I could drum up some arguments for you if you like. Could argue black is white or the world is flat perhaps?!

To be honest we don't mind which kind of church. DH isn't leading anymore so we have our pick for the first time ever! I personally would like somewhere lively with lots of social action and community projects.

We have live streaming so the elderly who don't have internet can come into the building in a really safe way, then rest of congregation can watch on YouTube.

Looking forward to getting to know you all.

coffeecup88 · 18/05/2021 10:20

Haha Peachy the earth is flat though isn't it?!

I have a friend you does not believe there is enough evidence for evolution and as a scientist I really struggle with that but I'm not about to argue with her about it!

Hi @Peachypips78. One thing I love about this thread is that although we all come from different traditions everyone is very respectful of each other. No real arguments.

Church isn't quite back to normal here. We tend to be a little more conservative than in England where the restrictions are concerned. Singing by a worship group can start this Sunday but it will be quite a while before there is congregational singing. More people can also go into the church as the balcony can now be used. I like to sing though and am happy to stay on my sofa until things are properly back to normal. It is lovely though to see things move slowly in the right direction.
