Or Wiccans. or Pagans? Or anyone who is interested in a magical path or feels some magical stirrings.

A place for support, learning, swapping ideas and magical inspiration.

I also wondered if I might ask for someone to read the cards for me?

I set up a new business a couple of months ago which is also a new path and would benefit from some insight around that at the moment...

Thanks in advance 💜

speakout · 08/09/2020 07:19

wheresmymojo thanks for the link- that looks so interesting. I will waych it later today.
Cats ae all so different aren't they. I have two, they like to be stroked in very different ways, and happy to show me if I listen.
Just having a coffee before a spa shower, will be a super quick yoga session- 10 minutes just to get the juice flowing as I have an 8.30am, hair cut appointment- my first one since before lockdown.
Even though I am getting on in years I subbornly hold on to my longish hair, but it does need a trim once in a while to get rid of dead ends. Then a work day, ahead, but I am keeping up my mindful pace. Rushing is often no quicker than finding the slow flow, and all it does is make us hold our body with tension, clench our jaw, and we end up very tired at the end of the day.
I hope everyone finds some magic today.

@speakout

wheresmymojo you mentioned watching Green Witch on Youtube- a lovely channel, I am a subscriber too- I wondered if anyone else had favourite witchy channels- I am always looking for new suggestions

Ones I currently watch are
Laura Daligan
Molly Roberts
Harmony Nice
Kelly Anne Maddox
Tylluan Penry
White Witch Parlour
Bealtaine Cottage- although not strictly witchcraft

Always looking for suggestions!

Thank you for this! As someone completely new to this world (except an old book ive got on celtic witchcraft) any easy to digest information is v welcome!

Can I ask - if you wanted to wish someone a swift recovery in hospital, what would you do? I think of them often and hope they will be out to see me (fingers crossed) get pregnant this autumn (hopehopehope!)

GingerCalico

Healing someone may be done in many ways- depends on what feel right to you- it is lovely that you want to help.
You could simply light a candle or send healing words into the wind, make a sigil, write it on a card or post it to them, make a mojo bag or charge a crystal, do some spellwork?

Well school was a great success!

but can I ask for some positive energy to be sent my way this evening? I don't want to say why but I have situation which could turn out very upsetting and I need a little strength right now.

BlankTimes · 08/09/2020 17:32

Welcome GingerCalico do whatever feels right for you. If in doubt, your good intentions sent to the highest good of everyone involved in the situation will hit the spot!

Queenrollo wherever you are at 8, whatever you're doing, just open your hand and feel the energy flowing into your palm Halloween Smile

YashmisCrone · 08/09/2020 20:17

Just stopping by to express gratitude for the beautiful sustaining 8pm energy everyone has been generating. I’ve just been basking in it and feel lighter for it.

As I know is the case for everyone I have been facing challenges of late, and I’m another one struggling to ‘hold it all’ right now. I’ve been feeling weary and frustrated in my everyday experience.

I’d love to contribute here more- the energy is wonderful- but for now it’s an absolute pleasure to sit quietly in the corner and listen to the reassuring sound of like minded conversation- a place of solace and belonging.

Thank you everyone for all you contribute here. It really is a very special place. Checking in is a true tonic. Wishing everyone a peaceful evening

Checking in too- a peaceful evening here in the midst of turmoil and burdens too.
Beautiful image YashmisCrone , this energy comforts me too, sitting in low light with my peppermint tea.
Just about to turn in early to bed.
I hope everyone has a restful night.

Today I had a "speakout spa" shower with bergamot and black pepper oils.

I also lit a candle for the first time and focused on my intentions as well as getting back into my routine of gratitude and intentions before sleep.

I'm going to start a book of shadows this weekend (or more a ring binder of shadows!)...

Thanks to all for the collective wisdom of these threads 🙏🏻

I will join the 8am/8pm candle lighting from tomorrow whenever I'm available...

VioletCharlotte · 08/09/2020 22:01

Sending love and solidarity to anyone who needs it this evening. The world is a very strange place at the moment, so many people are struggling with challenges in all kinds of ways.

I'm visualising a ring of pink, loving energy around our circle ⭕️💫💕

I have had a very odd coincidence happen...

Since I joined this thread a white tapered candle has turned up on the table on my patio.

Husband has never seen it before.

No-one has access to the garden (it's a very quiet village and we have a very tall brick wall around the whole garden and a locked very tall garden gate.

Weird.

FitzsFool · 09/09/2020 21:45

Sorry, my last post contained a link to a picture that may have contained personal data, whoops!
The general gist of my post was that I just wanted to offer a handhold in these rough times many of us are experiencing and gratitude for the solidarity shared here.

FitzsFool · 09/09/2020 21:48

Wheresmymojo coincidence? Or synchronicity perhaps? Wink

Delphinium20 · 09/09/2020 22:01

@FitzsFool love this thread for that exact reason! What lovely people!!!

Delphinium20 · 09/09/2020 22:04

@VioletCharlotte I forgot to add you as a mention. The world is indeed in a rough spot. I have friends and family in California who are dangerously close to the wildfires and I'm setting out an unlit candle on my window will facing west today...hoping an extinguished flame will represent an end to the fire dangers for them.

queenrollo · 10/09/2020 07:28

Morning. Thanks for all energy and thoughts after my post the other night. Crisis averted, but the situation as a whole unresolved. It's one of those things where we just have to wait for answers and then see how the road lays before us.

I am struggling with this 'new normal' very much. I just miss my hobbies and the people I spend time with through them. Unfortunately they are going to be among the last things to return. I had never realised just how much I am energised by being around others.

Anyway - today I return to the gym and weekly sessions with my PT and I am hoping that just this one thing to look forward to every week is going to help. I really need to get my fitness level back up too!

Beautiful autumnal day here....just the right kind of light hitting the harvested corn field behind my house. I stood at the landing window this morning and completely absorbed the golden light bouncing up.

speakout · 10/09/2020 18:05

Just dropping in to ease my bones and have some tea for a while.
I have make a big pot of lentil and vegatable soup in my slow cooker- why didn't I think of that before! We all love lentil soup, but the bottom of the pot always catches towards the end of the cooking time, needing a lot of attention and stirring. In the slow cooker- no sticking, no catching or burning- a revelation! Will be a simple supper with some warm crusty rolls.
I will be joining my sisters at 8pm tonight, to add what I can to this sacred space - we can support each other through these challanging times.

Do you mind if I join? Another long-time lurker here who would love to perch on the hearth. These threads are wonderful.

In many ways I’m at the beginning of my journey, but it’s taken me a long time to get here. I first became interested in witchcraft as a teenager, in the aftermath of a traumatic event, which (without going into too much detail) left me without much family support, so I began to spend a lot of time alone in nature. In this way I soon realised that nature had a sentience, which I was part of, and I found a lot of solace in that. In trying to understand my beliefs I discovered the local new age shop, which had a limited range of books on witchcraft; something chimed and I got it into my head to self-initiate into Wicca. However, I still had a lot of trauma to work through and the influence of my Christian upbringing was still very strong, so ultimately I abandoned my studies, convinced that I was doing something evil.

That was twenty years ago, and I’ve been slowly finding my way back. For a long time I described myself as an atheist, but I've realised that was only in opposition to the Abrahamic god, which was neither accurate nor particularly healthy (defining my spirituality in opposition to something rather than letting it stand in its own right). I’m not sure it needs a label but I’m currently hovering somewhere within pantheism, still with strong Wiccan leanings, but keen to find my own path. I’m interested in spell work (there was a comment, possibly on the last thread, about spell work being a way of inviting synchronicity, which really struck a chord) but I haven’t experimented with anything yet, I suppose because I'm still in reflective mode.

Sorry, that was a bit of an essay! TL;DR version: for the last year I’ve been creeping back towards witchcraft and I feel like I might have found my people here, if you’ll have me?

speakout · 11/09/2020 09:26

Broceliande of course you can come sit with us- always a space by the fire and a welcoming brew.
We are an eclectic bunch, with many paths and journeys, but where we touch and support and exchange is magical.
Your ideas about religion touch a chord with me- I call myself an atheist- and have a complete rejection of any Abrahamic or external god force as creator or judge, but my truth is far more complex that that. I work with deity, just not in ways that are commonly understood- you are right, labels are not always helpful.
Working through christian baggage can be hard, although I was lucky to avoid too much indoctrination as a child my close family are of the born again type, so tricky to deal with.

I must fly, work calls, just wanted to extend a welcome.
Hang on to your broomstick today- it's a windy one!

VioletCharlotte · 11/09/2020 11:12

Just flying in to say good morning. Work has been extremely busy this week and I've not had a chance to contribute much. I've got next week off and feeling a little guilty about leaving me colleagues to deal with it all, but I know I need to take a break and I'll function much better as a result. I fear it's going to be a long winter, so I'm taking the opportunity now while I get the chance!

Will pop back later to read all the posts and respond properly. Sending love for a happy Friday 😊

@mymoonshift

Evening sisters. I wondered if you could offer some guidance. I have always felt a magical presence and have always been in tune with nature, the universe and crystal healing.

I wondered if there were any practising wiccans in this group? I have been thinking about converting for a while now and have decided to commit fully. How did you get into Wicca and is there any groups/literature etc you would recommend? Thank you.

Hi, mymoonshift. After years of hedgewitchery and some Dianic groups, I found a coven (or it found me) and was initiated into Wicca.

I think we should define “Wicca”.
In Britain and Europe, Wicca is a re created initiatory mystery religion which draws upon its roots in the Western Mystery Tradition, and traditional forms of folk magic, folklore, and the pagan traditions of the British Isles/Europe for inspiration.
In America, and maybe other countries, Wicca and witchcraft seem to be used interchangeably.
Americans refer to initiatory Wicca as “British Traditional Witchcraft”.
In Britain, Traditional and Hereditary Witchcraft are quite different from Wicca.
I am using the British definition.

I'm not a Facebook user, but there are some open groups there, to begin your search. Were it not for the Plague, I would also advise you to seek out local Moots (usually in pubs).

There are two organisations in the UK which have info: The Pagan Federation and the Children of Artemis, both online; and the CofA also have some interesting stuff on YouTube.
They both publish magazines: Pagan Dawn from the PF, and Witchcraft and Wicca from the CofA. They used to have small ads, for contacts and moots.

I would recommend different books, depending on what kind of craft you want to pursue... but you can't go wrong with Doreen Valiente, Vivienne Crowley and Janet and Stewart Farrah for Wicca; Rae Beth and Scott Cunningham for solitary witchcraft (although he does call it Wicca); Z Budapest for Dianic witchcraft; Starhawk and Ray Buckland for US witchcraft... and there are loads more.

And lastly, in witchcraft, as in every human group, there are predators. Please be wary, and don't arrange to meet up with strangers anywhere but a public place. No true practitioner will ever charge for lessons or initiations (something for materials sometimes) and NO initiation requires having sex. Ever.

Hope you are feeling supported and strong, Queenrollo. 🕯

Broceliande · 11/09/2020 14:07

Thank you for the warm welcome, Speakout

If it’s not too big or too personal a question, can I ask how you perceive deity and in turn how you work with them? I’ve come to see them as being similar to archetypes, existing in the collective unconscious, although I've little notion of how to actually work with them!

As a teenager I was very good at visualisation and waking dreams (a skill I’ve sadly lost) and had some very powerful encounters that have stayed with me all these years. I'd love to be able to do that again.

speakout · 11/09/2020 14:53

Broceliande
similar to archetypes, existing in the collective unconscious

Yes that is similar to my view, I work with deity in many different ways- I like to celebrate and give thanks, often connected to seasonal festivals- for instance Brigit at Imbolc, I invoke and evoke, use deity for pathworking, meditation or shadow work.
I use deity in Tarot and spellwork, often calling upon certain energies, for instance using Aphrodite for self love, or Kali if I need a little kick ass! I use self nurture as a way of connecting with the divine, every act of self love connects me with the she.
I am sure there are many other ways of connecting with deity and my work is almost exclusively with the divine feminine.

YashmisCrone · 11/09/2020 21:36

I experience deity in an archetype/ collective consciousness kind of way too speakout and Broceliande (welcome! It’s good to have you here)

I like Jungian ideas so it resonates with me to work with deity this way. That said I have also have also had what feel like very direct experiences with specific goddesses at different times that have felt like callings, certainly synchronicity. Overall these feel like profound connections and have given me valuable guidance, such an enriching experience, can be challenging. When it happens it does feel building a relationship with, and embodying traits of the deity to help me grow.

Interesting to hear others experience too.

Wishing everyone a peaceful night 💫
