Or Wiccans. or Pagans? Or anyone who is interested in a magical path or feels some magical stirrings.

A place for support, learning, swapping ideas and magical inspiration.

Morning all! Just catching up with you all. The equinox slipped by me very gently but definitely. I was at my late mum’s house carrying on with the task of clearing out. It’s poignant to see more and more gaps where things used to be, hard to know what to keep. It’s an old cottage and well insulated, and we arrived on a warm late summer afternoon. By the time we locked the door behind us, summer had gone.

It’s been a beautiful full moon and it feels special that we will get another for Samhain. Last Samhain I marked a life transition by bathing in a natural pool near a waterfall (and we’re northerly so it was chilly!). This year? I hope we can enjoy the moon and maybe light a fire in the garden or the hearth and remember. I’ve had no sense of my mum needing contact with me wherever she is, but that makes sense as she was always pulled towards the past and those she had lost. If she’s whooping it up in Summerlands, it’ll be some time before I get a tap on my shoulder.

Good evening sisters, I apologise for not being in touch as often as I'd like to be, like so many of us there's turbulence under the broomstick so I'm having to hang onto my pointy hat a lot.
I do read the board whenever I can and I join in the evening 8's and right now it's blissful to sit by the Aga with a mug of Nighttime.

Fabulous synchronicity with your new car Speakout and I do think your mother's idea of telling her friends you're an Avon lady comes from a good place within her, it's her way of being able to explain to her friends about you selling things that smell nice.

You could have a secondary business line selling the products you make to her friends, packaged and marketed for Wellness under a different name.

Next time someone asks you for an Avon catalogue, you can say they've misheard her, you're not an Avon lady, you're a Mabon Lady and give them a list of your plainly presented wellness products Halloween Wink

Craftycorvid · 05/10/2020 09:07

Blanktimes. The ‘Mabon Lady’. That’s inspired! Grin

speakout · 05/10/2020 17:35

Mabon Lady I love that.

Goodness this thread has move fast the last couple of days. Just catching up on all your posts.

Speakout great news about the car! It was obviously meant for you. Interesting about the initials. My car reg contains my Dad's initials. He was with me when I bought it and always helps me with cars, so it put the seal on the deal for me.

I'm laughing at the idea of you giving a talk in a baptism church! I'm sure they'll all enjoy it and find it really interesting, Love the idea of a witchy Avon catalogue!

I don't really hide what I do from my family, but I would draw the line in calling myself a witch when talking to them. I think my parents just think I'm odd! My boys are used to it and don't bat an eyelid anymore at any of it!

I've had a lovely evening making self care products. I'm going away with some friends for a weekend so making them a few pamper bits as gifts. The kitchen smells gorgeous!

GinIsMySaviour · 06/10/2020 12:31

Hello all,

Lovely to keep up with everyone’s news. Sorry not to have posted for a while - it’s all been a bit chaotic here. Calming down now though.

Interesting question about being open about magical things. I work in quite an unmagical field so I generally don’t tell people straight away but I tend to gravitate towards people who have similar interests or who are at least open to magical discussions and so I have shared with a few people in most of the places I work (I work with lots of different teams).

People are most interested in tarot!

DH tolerates my interests Grin which I find hilarious as he is basically a shaman but doesn’t see it himself. DD loves nature and is very open to understanding more about how it can influence and guide us. I love the way kids can hold a sound understanding of science and an interest in magic together so easily.

Right, I need to go as my poor little labrador was bitten on the paw last week and needs lots of love ... and at some point I need to fit in some work too.

Light and peace to all x

speakout · 06/10/2020 15:25

Quite a chilly afternoon here, although bright- and good to see the sun after such a wet week.
I am making a Mexican stew tonight, a slow simmer on the hob- one of these that I am not sure what the next ingredient will be! But looks good so far- DS has just popped his nose around the corner asking I we can eat early tonight as the smell is making his mouth water!.

GinIsMySaviour sorry to hear your pup is sore- I hope it heals soon.

I love the way kids have no problem grasping science and magic either- there are some fascinating wormholes along there.
As a witch and a science graduate ( chemistry) I have never found any conflict in my thinking, and makes for some of the most interesting converations along my journey.

Hi everyone ,
I’ve been reading all your posts with interest and hope there’s room for a little one ?
I’d love to join you all 🙂
I have always felt deeply connected to nature and the seasons and because of my ( usually) accurate intuition and often prophetic dreams, my husband has always called me a witch ( in a humorous way ) . I have only recently begun to learn more and to try to intentionally cast spells . I have tried twice , a spell to help my son and someone else too . Both were very successful !
I am reading a book at the moment by Skye Alexander and wonder if anyone can recommend any others for me ?

Hope everyone is having a good day 🙂

speakout · 07/10/2020 14:59

Elasticatedwaist a warm welcome- always room for a new face.
( love your user name btw, comfy cothes where I live are called Huffle buffs).

Lovely to have you here in our witches' cosy corner.

Evening sisters, popping in for a peppermint tea before bed. Hope you're all well. Today's been busy with work, but I've been out this evening at a Kundalini yoga class which was just beautiful. I'm feeling incredibly relaxed and balanced now.

Elasticatedwaist welcome Smilelovely to have you with us and great to hear about your success with spells.

Speakout I love your name for a comfy clothes! Is this a Scottish word or something just your family call them?

Gin sorry to hear about your poorly pup. I hope he's doing ok and on the mend.

Love to you all ❤️

queenrollo · 08/10/2020 09:28

Morning all.

Well yesterday my 7 year old asked me if people could see the future? So I gave a very diplomatic response about some people maybe having the ability to do this but no-one knows for sure.
Then he said, very matter of fact, that he must be one of them. He sees pictures in his head of things and then they happen in real life!
We talked a little bit about what kind of things and they are almost exactly the same as expeiences I have had myself. Particularly finding ourselves in places/buildings that we know our way around because we have 'seen' them before in dreams or images.
I wish when I had been a child that I had not been brushed off or ridiculed when I tried to talk about this - but I now know this is something that comes from my father's side of the family, i was totally estranged from them until I was an adult.

It's 'witch weather' here today. I'm off to the gym and then when I get back home will be tidying.

sweetkitty · 08/10/2020 10:12

Welcome @Elasticatedwaist I’m new to the thread too, I have had prophetic dreams all my life too

@speakout comfy clothes are just called comfies here, DS runs straight upstairs after school and gets changed into shorts and t-shirts he hates his uniform with a passion. Most of my children are quite happy in pjs all day.

Not much going on here, I’m still off work next week is October holidays, I’ve been looking at B12 deficiency as a friend has suggested I might have it and it a lot more complicated than popping a few tablets 😩

Have a lovely day all

GinIsMySaviour · 08/10/2020 11:08

Good morning wonderful friends,

I hope you are all well. Welcome elasticatedwaist ! Your user name made me chuckle as I have some zoom calls today so I have on a very smart top and some yoga pants! My body is definitely happier with elasticated waists wherever possible.

Thanks all for the good wishes for my hound ... she’s feeling much better now but still has a few days more of house (ar)rest before she’s allowed out so I guess she’ll be joining in my zoom calls Grin

queenrollo that’s really interesting about tracing your magic to your father’s side of the family. Are you in touch with them now / still? I kept all of my interests hidden from my family for ages until my VERY straight laced ex-military no-nonsense father told me his mother (who died before I was born) read tarot and brewed healing teas from her garden plants.

Do you think magical interests and abilities are, or can be, inherited? I’d always assumed I was the odd one out in my family until I found out about my grandmother. Or do you think someone with magical interests nurtures them in others so you’re more likely to develop innate abilities if you have someone like that close to you?

Hmmmmm, big questions for a Thursday. I may need more tea...

May this wonderful wind bring us all good fortune today x

speakout · 08/10/2020 11:12

I thin the term Huffle Buffs is quite widespread in Scotland, but quite old and possible not in much use these days.

I wonder if JK Rowling got her inspiration for the Hufflepuff House at Hogwarts from the word- she wrote the books in Scotland.

A lovely sunny day here, but feeing a bit overwhelmed with stuff to do, just finished a supermarket shop, have to cook, get stuff packaged to take to the post office, but waiting for the gas man to arrive. Just sorting laundry right now.

Hey I've dipped I the threads before but they do move fast. Hoping to chat again xx

Elasticatedwaist · 08/10/2020 12:42

Good afternoon to everyone and thanks for the warm welcome .
@speakout no longer will I call my comfy clothes ‘ comfies’ from now on they are huffle buffs 😁 love that !! I bought myself a dress recently , I’m not going anywhere to wear a dress at the moment but I loved it so bought it anyway , so , it’s now become my spell casting dress for now . Somehow helps me to focus and of course caused great hilarity to my YA son who thinks I’m generally bonkers !
@GinIsMySaviour I think perhaps there is an hereditary thing to it , my mum has always had prophetic dreams . One saved us from a house fire once when I was a child .

Elphame · 08/10/2020 14:51

Hello - and hello to all the new names!

Sorry my my absence. It's been a hard year for me, I'm just recovering from a second bout of surgery and my business has been closed down again by the Welsh Govt so I'll be so glad to see the end of 2020.

I'm finding the recovery hard at the moment, it was a complicated procedure and I'm battered and bruised and facing another month of dressings and heavy duty support bras.

I'm hoping it does mean the end of asking my GP for referrals to the local breast unit for treatment every month. If so then it'll be worth it but if in the meantime anyone could send me some healing energy I would very much appreciate it. My reserves are so very low.

queenrollo · 08/10/2020 14:56

Elphame I recently bought a special healing candle from a fellow witch. I shall light that one at the 8 tonight and send the energy your way x

speakout · 08/10/2020 15:17

Nonamesavail lovely to see you again, great you have come to spend some time here.
Elasticatedwaist I have a spellcasting dress too a great heavy velvet dress- how amazing that you have one too!

Elphame I am sorry to hear that you are feeling sore and bruised- I too will dedicate my 8pm candle to sending healing energy to you . X
I hope you are feeling better soon.

VioletCharlotte your yoga sounds wonderful, I am up for an early morning class today, unfortunately the last one for a while as my area goes under new virus restrictions again from 6pm tonight.
queenrollo how interesting about your son. I am not sure if psychic abilities are inherited, I have a few witchy types in my family, and the further back I look in my family tree seems just about everyone was practicing some kind of pagan ways.
I think children are often sensitive or open to other energies, but it is ironed out of them by adults, so they learn to keep a lid on things when they grow up, and then simply forget.
I do firmly believe that we all have the ability to perform magic, I have daily communication with people that are complete novices through my work, trying the craft for the first time, and some of the stories I hear are astounding.
Many of us craft magic even though we don't consider ourselves pagan, little things for luck, kissing a sore part better on a child, wishing on a star, the healing power of touch, knowing when someone is about to phone, or having a feeling about someone close but distant.
And when we start exercising our magical muscles they get stronger. Once we start listening to our intuition that inner voice gets louder.
I think most of us have abilities of some kind, believing and nurturing those powers makes them grow.

Have a magical day sisters.

Hi
I’m just wondering what the 8pm candle is all about ? I think I missed something . @speakout I love your way with words , the description of having a magickal muscle that can grow stronger is a great way to think of it 🙂
I would love to grow some herbs outside in containers , I have lavender already but not sure if I would need to wait now until spring to plant anything else ?
Raining here again today but that suits me fine as I find it soothing , enjoying a cup of tea with my best pal and making plans for the rest of the day . Here he is . Happy Friday everyone 🙂

Any Witches Here? Part 12.
BlankTimes · 09/10/2020 14:21

Hi Elasticatedwaist do have a read through our previous threads, there's loads and loads of info in there which answers so many new peoples' questions.

We have so many threads now, we could do with a mini-index.

The 8's are at 8am and 8pm where whoever wants to participate lights their candle then 'tunes in' to our collective energy, to add, to take if they are in need, or to send something to another person in the group direct at those times. Join in whenever you want to, or opt-out if you prefer or participate occasionally, it's up to the individual, we don't have a roll call to see who is present at each one Halloween Smile

Lovely dog, totally Zen.

Elphame I'll send some healing via the 8's and suggest some arnica cream for unbroken skin too.

Gin how's your hound's toe now?

Queen your 7 year-old definitely has a gift to be nurtured. I do think some things are inherited, in all the lore, it's usually the seventh son of a seventh son who is super-talented.

Violet I wish there were classes near me, I'd love to go to a specialist Yoga one or have a Gong Bath, it's been such a long time since I've had an in-person shared activity with anyone like-minded. I love hearing about yours, I always think 'One day I'll do that'

Have a great weekend everyone, oh, did anyone see Mars the other night, it was the closest it will be to Earth for another 15 years. You can still see it for a good few days yet, it looked like a piece of Morganite that night.

speakout · 09/10/2020 15:53

Having quiet moment in a hectic day.
Feeing winds of change heralding the seasons and deeper changes afoot.
A sunny day, with a brisk refreshing breeze has fuelled my energy to zip through the house at top speed, hoovering, washing, brushing, cleaning.
Windows are open and the sweet wind is cleansing on its way.
I found my familiar's old snuggle blankie which has been lost for a while and he is beyond excited, kneading and purring at full volume.
Elasticatedwaist your dog is very cute Blanktimes describes our 8 and 8 candle exactly. Started by one of our beloved members YashmisCrone it is a time to share, to feel close. As one flame burns it connects us to others burning a flame at the same time and similar intention of unity. To seek or give support, or simply as a sacred moment.
I usually light a candle at 8am and 8pm and think of my sisters here on this thread
Elphame I will send healing thoughts again tonight at 8.

Morning all ,
I’ve been working my way through the past threads , it’s taking a while , there is a lot !
I like the 8s idea . I will join in with that and send good thoughts and healing to those that need it 🙂
