Angel card and medium reading

I had a reading done last week, and I am 99% sure that the lady that did it was genuine. She knew things she couldn’t possibly have guessed. She got names of family members spot on, where we had been on holiday, even where someone close to me was buried and things about our friendship no body else even knew. She knew absolutely nothing about me beyond my first name- no link to my Facebook/ where I worked and didn’t know how I got her details. Has anyone else had a similar experience? I mean she didn’t get anything wrong and I just don’t understand how she could have done it if she was ‘cold reading’ me.

Did you ask her what next week's lottery numbers are?

Nomintrude · 14/10/2019 14:02

That sounds quite fascinating. How specific was she with the things she said?

MissMarks · 14/10/2019 16:00

She knew my dad and both grandparents name, and told me the initial of very close friend who died, the name of the hospital, what they died of and where they are buried. And loads of other things about my children.

She knew I had just booked a birthday party, she knew the name of my cat that had died, what colour it was and how it died. That my brother in law was going through a separation and his mental health isn’t great. That I had lost a lot of weight last year. Stuff she couldn’t possibly have known.

Did you record it? If you did listen back & see if you gave anything away in general chit chat.

I’ve had some very good readings (I thought so at the time) & when I’ve listened back I’ve said something that made me realise they picked up on & used later.

MissMarks · 14/10/2019 22:36

No sadly not. Will do next time. I really said very little- just confirmed when she made statements but she didn’t really say anything that was incorrect.

Where is she based?

WineOrGinOrBoth · 15/10/2019 07:28

@MissMarks that’s very interesting that you think she didn’t get anything wrong. I usually find they get a few things wrong. It’s a shame you didn’t record it - I always do & listen back. So do record next time. The stuff she couldn’t have known - well I always think that’s how you know You’re seeing a good psychic.

Where is she - I wouldn’t mind trying her out myself!

Shame! Too far for me

Lifecraft · 15/10/2019 13:22

and I am 99% sure that the lady that did it was genuine.

And I'm 100% sure she isn't.

MissMarks · 15/10/2019 15:39

Lifecraft- well you weren’t there. She knew totally random things like my grand mother had a little gold bell she used to ring, and about text messages I sent to my dying friend on Christmas Day and about what I said when I visited his grave. Specific things- not random stuff she plucked out of thin air.

You and a million other people have told the same story over the years, but if the session is ever secretly recorded, it shows the same result every single time. Skilled cold reading, and manipulation of the conversation so they elicit the info from you without you knowing or remembering, and then give it back to you in a way that leaves you convinced they knew stuff they couldn't of known.

It's very highly skilled, brilliant in a way, but still a con. You might as well say "he definitely sawed the lady in half, I was there you weren't". No matter how convincing it appears, it's a trick. Just because you can't work out how it was done, and it appeared genuine, doesn't mean it wasn't a trick. It was.

Mummy0ftwo12 · 15/10/2019 21:23

Did she give you any predictions about the future?

MissMarks · 15/10/2019 23:07

Nope- I didn’t give her anything at all about little bells, or what my grandmother was like. I didn’t tell her anything about my friend and yet she knew the name of the cemetery (in a completely different town) and where their grave is. I just can’t see how any amount of cold reading could have given her these specifics. I should also say- I am not in any way vulnerable and went to her from a desperate need to connect with deceased family members- my grand parents died years ago. When she spoke she spoke exactly like my friends and relatives would have said things. I just don’t believe she was some kind of highly manipulative scammer.

OP posts:
MissMarks · 15/10/2019 23:10

No predictions really from the future- no lottery numbers! She knew I had just moved into a new house and was stuff like my grand mother saying I need a new kitchen but it would take time to get it all nice.
She also knew that there is a second house in our garden and we had debated turning it into a den for our children. She couldn’t possibly have known this as again they house is miles from where she is and she literally only had my first name and I saw her same day I arranged appointment

It wasn't Madame A was it?

MissMarks · 15/10/2019 23:15

No- just a normal woman called Orla. Doesn’t even market herself! No demonstrations or anything like that.

Lifecraft, there really is more between heaven and earth that you (and many cynical people) will never understand.

Desparately trying to undermine other people's experiences. Sad.

MissMarks · 15/10/2019 23:28

TheFaeriequeen- yip- I know all of this. I know how people manipulate (I deal with manipulative clients every day in work and have done for years- I also have dealt with people lying to me so well I have actually thought I must be going mad), but yet, I genuinely don’t think this girl was. The gold bell thing for example- I had actually forgotten that myself as my grandmother died twenty years ago, but as soon as she said it and describes it it came flashing back before my eyes so clearly.
And how exactly would she cold read ‘I have a young man, x, he is showing me the cancer centre at the city hospital’. The hairs on my neck literally stood up. She then was able to tell me the month he died and where he was buried. That is mental- like I couldn’t have given any indication of that as I don’t even talk to my closest friends about it as it’s still very raw.

Defending charlatans who exploit vulnerable people for money...sadder.

MissMarks · 23/10/2019 16:33

Lifecraft- I am not vulnerable in any way.

OP posts:
scryingeyes · 24/10/2019 08:55

That sounds a really good reading. Treasure it and ignore those who don't believe. Yes there are charlatans and unscrupulous people out there, and also people who are on a learning curve so can misinterprate the informotion they are 'given'.
