Angel card and medium reading

I had a reading done last week, and I am 99% sure that the lady that did it was genuine. She knew things she couldn’t possibly have guessed. She got names of family members spot on, where we had been on holiday, even where someone close to me was buried and things about our friendship no body else even knew. She knew absolutely nothing about me beyond my first name- no link to my Facebook/ where I worked and didn’t know how I got her details. Has anyone else had a similar experience? I mean she didn’t get anything wrong and I just don’t understand how she could have done it if she was ‘cold reading’ me.

Lifecraft- I am not vulnerable in any way.

Why the reading then? Grounded people who have got their act together do not go in for this nonsense.

MissMarks · 24/10/2019 20:35

Lifecraft- maybe because they aren’t atheist and believe that life doesn’t end at death.

Thanks scryingeyes. I will treasure it x

Why isn't she working for the security services? Think how many atrocities she could have helped avert with that ability to see secret facts about people.

She could interview suspected terrorists and let it be known if they were terrorists or not. Or she could help in courts. Or just hang around places alerting police to criminals she's noticed through her superpowers.

She could make a fortune in big corporate negotiations by being able to see truths not shared.

I wonder why she doesn't use her skills to save lives? Have you any idea yourself why not?

Lifecraft · 24/10/2019 21:11

Lifecraft- maybe because they aren’t atheist and believe that life doesn’t end at death.

That applies to billions of people, 99% of whom don't bother with this old tripe.

MissMarks · 24/10/2019 22:05

Each to their own. She knew stuff she couldn’t possibly have known and most definitely wasn’t cold reading me. She saw a colleague too and she also had a very accurate reading.
And in answer to why she doesn’t work with the police- that simply wouldn’t be happening in the area she is from and also she doesn’t predict the future.

No she didn't and yes she was.

And in answer to why she doesn’t work with the police

None of them work with the police, because it's a waste of police time. The can cold read and manipulate you into thinking they have info about you, but when asked to provide information that the person sitting opposite them doesn't know, like where is the body buried, they are always clueless.

Because it's a scam!

TowelNumber42 · 25/10/2019 13:32

Historical child abuse enquiries. Victim support. Rape crisis. Samaritans. Elder abuse. Contested wills. So many things one can do with being able to see unknown facts from the past.

You believe she is for real yet she doesn't use her superpowers for good like that. Why would you trust someone so immoral? I'd run a mile.

Then again that's how abuse scandals grow so big, those who are in a position to challenge it won't do it and others excuse them for inaction. Complicity.

Mind you, I reckon you actually know deep down that she doesn't have superpowers to see the past so that's why you don't hate her for being appallingly selfish and small minded in her use of her powers.

@TowelNumber42

Well said. These charlatans are scum of the Earth. I will never stop dissecting them and attacking them on threads like this. If that makes me unpopular on the internet, so be it. I see it as a form of public service. My way of giving back to the world!

There are only two kinds of psychic, most are crooks and some who actually believe they have a gift, are deluded.

MissMarks · 25/10/2019 22:35

So how exactly do you explain her being able to name a grave yard, 30 miles away, and the location of a grave and the exact month my friend died, that I had visited and what I had said??
She knew nothing about me apart from my first name- no link to my social media, how I got her details, what my back ground was- absolutely nothing.
Have you ever actually been for a reading???

OP posts:
TowelNumber42 · 26/10/2019 06:30

I get that you want to believe she has real powers but I still don't see how you could trust someone with those kinds of powers who doesn't do anything useful with them. What's that all about?

virginpinkmartini · 26/10/2019 06:37

@Lifecraft- I'm with you. I don't believe in the 'supernatural,'... I believe there are logical explanations for everything.
But it's absolutely futile trying to convince people who want to believe in this stuff. Ive actually been met with anger by people who probed me about my beliefs about this stuff, only for me to say I didn't believe in it after I let them spiel on about their experience with mediums. They actually acted offended. Just don't bother.

Lifecraft · 26/10/2019 15:17

Have you ever actually been for a reading???

No. I've never been to the South Pole either, but I know it's bloody cold. I don't have to go to a reading to know they are all scammers.

Lifecraft · 26/10/2019 15:21

So how exactly do you explain her being able to name a grave yard, 30 miles away, and the location of a grave and the exact month my friend died, that I had visited and what I had said??

Exactly the same way they always do it. They are very skilled tricksters. They illicit information from you without you realising you're even giving it, and then expand upon it. Basically, they give you the story you've given them, without you even knowing you've given it.

Millions of people have been convinced like you, yet no psychic has ever managed to demonstrate any psychic ability at all when subjected to proper scientific investigation in a controlled environment. Never ever.

You were duped. But don't beat yourself up over it.

Spied · 26/10/2019 15:33

You said she did a reading for your friend? How did you come across this woman and have a reading? Did you book as a works party or something?

MissMarks · 26/10/2019 18:09

A much older lady I work with had been to see her a few months ago and was very happy with her reading. Identified her exact job role and some issues that she was having with it. She then had left the mediums number in the office and I just texted her.
I have (since this thread), Googled my first name and mobile number and absolutely nothing came up, and I saw her the same day I texted and didn’t tell her how I got her details.
I totally get why people would be sceptical but I am genuinely not some vulnerable person who was desperate to reconnect with deceased love ones! I only went for an angel card reading as I was stressed about something to do with my child’s school work.

OP posts:
MissMarks · 26/10/2019 18:13

She knew exact names on first go- and they aren’t particularly common, and she got them in the correct context of how I knew the people- like my best friends name and how both our children were struggling at school. This woman definitely did not know me from Adam- we mix in completely different worlds, but was able to tell me my best friends name (because apparently my grand mother said ‘tell x not to be worrying either, both children are absolutely fine).

OP posts:
TheCaddyisaBaddie · 26/10/2019 18:25

When you rung to make the appt, did you block your number or leave it in case she needed to re-arrange?

If she has your phone number that's all it takes to start searching you or your friends on social media, the gold bell might not be on your social media but on a cousin / aunt / uncle/ sibling etc

MissMarks · 26/10/2019 18:59

I have searched my name and mobile number- absolutely nothing came up, and even if she was able to find me on say Facebook, because of my job I have it on the highest security settings and you can’t see who my friends are.
Honestly- if it was one or two things she guessed at I would think fair enough, but there was too much she knew for it all to be a lucky guess. A cat that died more than 20 years ago?? That my daughter was being assessed by an educational psychologist?? No one apart from my immediate family even knew that.

OP posts:
Lifecraft · 27/10/2019 21:05

Derren Brown has done exactly the same.....but at least he admits it's a trick.

MissMarks · 28/10/2019 08:57

I watched the Derren Brown thing- he doesn’t actually say it is ALWAYS a trick and can not prove others are not genuine.

OP posts:
Lifecraft · 28/10/2019 13:27

and can not prove others are not genuine.

No psychic in the history of the world has ever managed to prove they are genuine. For years James Randi offered $1m to anyone who could prove their powers under controlled conditions, and no one could do it.

They are either deluded fools who think they have special powers when they don't, or scammers who know they have no special powers. There is no option 3.
