MidnightVelvet. No I don’t celebrate any of the full moons. In fact with the sole exception of making moon water occasionally I avoid doing any work on them.

I prefer to work on the dark moons.

VioletCharlotte · 04/11/2018 16:11

Pawnee I've just been reading about the Venus retrograde we're in at the moment.. says we may well be visited by ghosts from relationships past and be tempted back... could explain a lot!

VioletCharlotte · 04/11/2018 16:17

Midnight velvet I've only celebrated moons in my own way, going for walks to look at it, etc. But this week I'm going to a new moon women's circle, which sounds interesting

VioletCharlotte · 04/11/2018 16:31

@BlankTimes
I'm slightly freaked out that this has just appeared on my Facebook newsfeed. I'd never heard of scared geometry until yesterday!

Violet I've done a couple of those, I'm considering the candle making one actually, I go through candles like you wouldn't believe :)

I hope your circle is good, it sounds amazing! Please let me know how it went, if you want to.

Elphame sorry to be nosy, is that personal preference or are there reasons for working on the dark moon?

PawneeParksDept · 04/11/2018 17:03

@VioletCharlotte it was years ago and I hadn't thought about him in a very long time, I was only triggered into looking him up via another thread.

It's interesting what you say about Venus because there IS a former partner I do remember fondly and I'd love to see again but that's not the one!

It does feel like a ghost, it's just the parallels that are eerie.

PawneeParksDept · 04/11/2018 17:04

Are they online, those courses?

BlankTimes · 04/11/2018 17:09

@VioletCharlotte much as I'd love to take the credit for influencing whatever appears in your fb newsfeed including Sacred Geometry, Halloween Grin I'm afraid it's the data collection bots that have recorded your screenshot of the crystals from Amazon and between Amazon, Alexa or other similar devices that 'listen', FB and MN, they have decided you've mentioned it enough to start putting ads on your FB newsfeed, don't be surprised if you get a load of emails from Amazon offering you goods based on that theme and see what comes up on the ad feed on here.

I don't have social media and I use an ad blocker, but can access fewer and fewer sites unless I comply with their request to switch it off.

Enjoy your new moon women's circle, it sounds good.

Elphame · 04/11/2018 17:15

I have a couple of reasons Midnight. Most I can’t really reveal here but one of the main ones is almost a “butterfly” effect. I set something in motion on the dark moon where the moons influence is minimal but as the moon waxes so does the power and effectiveness of my working.

By working on the full moon I get an instant power boost but then the waning moon works against me. There are some exceptions. If I want to banish or weaken/ reduce something then full moon is appropriate.

Essentially I see the moon as a resource I can use in my craft but I don’t revere it.

VioletCharlotte · 04/11/2018 17:21

@BlankTimes and there was me thinking it was some kind of sign! But thinking about it you're probably right. Damn google!

owlshooting · 04/11/2018 17:26

Right, I am not a witch, but I would really love to learn more about the craft and this thread has really made me interested.

Where should I start as a novice? I understand much of what you are discussing but only at a basic level. I would love some tutoring!
I put out requests to the Universe, set my intention on a full moon, worked with crystals to some extent, and understand the concept of working with water, fire, earth and air to some extent. Other than that, not much.
I am an energy healer however.

BlankTimes · 04/11/2018 17:49

Owls have you read the previous 3 threads, there's a lot of info on there and advice about which books to read etc. from several people.

Tutoring (and being tutored) isn't for me, I'm happy to point someone in the right direction, but feel it's up to them to then do the research and find out if they are in tune with that suggestion, if not they are free to pursue something else, my advice will not suit everyone.

For me, the Craft is a way of life, a way of exploration and self-development, emphasis on the self, my way is not something I'd want to teach anyone, they need to find their own way.

Sorry Owls that sounded very abrupt when I read it back, it certainly wasn't meant to.

What forms of energy healing have you been attuned to? I know some Western forms of Reiki make a big thing about teaching the exact way of doing it.

speakout · 04/11/2018 18:34

BlankTimes
Thank you for your remedies. much appreciated

I have bought several of the books recommended, and read the previous threads, but perhaps not carefully enough. I suppose it's up to me to find my own way, but I would appreciate some guidance.! No, not abrupt at all blank.

speakout · 04/11/2018 18:42

Blanktimes- i love your words about headspace and personal control over our feelings.

Most of us have challenges but it is how we arrange our internal landscape that makes the most difference.
That is the ultimate arena that we have control over.

I have worked with and loved geometry most of my life.
I had a degree of synesthesia until my teenage years, involving numeracy, and although the effect has mostly gone I still see numbers in a very symbolic/sacred way.

I also have combined chemistry/maths degree.

PawneeParksDept · 04/11/2018 19:43

Ive had that too @speakout the word starting syn that my device won't spell. Intermittent. Mines music as colour

BlankTimes · 04/11/2018 20:58

Owls sorry, I must be extremely thick tonight, what sort of guidance are you looking for?

Reading about doing things isn't the same as doing them, if you've got Hedgewitch, that's a year and a day's lessons if I remember rightly.
Witches Kitchen has a lot about making things, wheel of the year, correspondences and intent.

More than one of my books has a paragraph or two that says [paraphrasing] This is an instruction manual if you're just going to read this but not actually do any of the specific exercises in it, then don't, give the book away because you won't learn anything from it.

Speakout hope your dd is improving. Glad you like the recipes, I love the smell of the thyme syrup bubbling away, anyone who comes in whilst I'm making it cannot guess what it is. Also glad you like the having control of your own headspace thoughts. I think I was just born willful Halloween Grin

I'm not a very visual person, I feel rather than see. Have you seen the threads on the main boards describing how people think, I find them fascinating in all of the ways that are described. I've always wanted to have synaesthesia, but sadly nada.

Sacred Geometry fascinates me despite me not finding the patterns in numbers. I'm pretty sure a building built on those principles today will feel so much different inside to one just designed for aesthetic purposes. I was very surprised when I read 'Harmony' by Prince Charles that he is very interested in Sacred Geometry and harmonics etc.

Many of the ancient places also have a definite ability to alter your state of consciousness, yet every experience of that is different, you never repeat the same thing. Speaking of which, I'd better stop waffling and let someone else get a word in edgewise.

Elphame · 04/11/2018 21:07

owlshooting What interests you? I started with mythology and folklore and things sort of developed from that.

HillsBesideTheSea · 04/11/2018 22:46

I think that Elphame's question about what interests you owlshooting is wise. Each of us are following our own journeys and what we need at anyone time is different.

The rabbit hole I have currently fallen into (the magic and symbolism of trees/tree species) is not necessary more than a practical interest for others. yes I have maps and all sorts right now. It is totally fascinating me and the next directions I will take will likely be into magic and symbolism of animal species if I can find the right books failing that I will probably fall into researching English historical architectural styles and their symbolism which is probably as un-magical as you can get. Would I recommend tree magic? Only if you are interested it in.

BlankTimes · 04/11/2018 23:25

Hills is part of what you're looking at Simon Lilley's work? If so I like the sigils he describes for each tree. Also there's the Beth, Luis, Nion Ogham alphabet from Robert Graves. So much of interest in magic and trees.

Trouble is, there's so much of interest in all things, I'm sure if I lived to be 300 years old I'd still not learn about the magic in everything I want to.

owlshooting · 04/11/2018 23:32

Blank - yes, you are right. I have had some massive changes going on in my life lately, so have been picking up and dropping the books, unable to do the exercises with any focus, but I will!

What interests me: I just typed out a lengthy answer and then my computer lost power and shut down! I think the answer is what lies behind the obvious. The hidden. Hidden worlds. hidden knowledge. The natural world, herbs, wild animals, portents and signs.
Healing, using intention, working with natural forces.
Knowledge that has been lost from ancient civilisations, including our own.
Other realms of existence. Fairies, angels, other beings.
Runes, tarot cards, divining, scrying. All of these.
I always wanted to know if witches can really fly on broomsticks and make themselves invisible, if that doesn't sound ridiculous.

owlshooting · 04/11/2018 23:33

Hills - I am DESPERATE to know more about tree magic!

HillsBesideTheSea · 05/11/2018 00:11

BlankTimes I have not come across any of which you have mentions. So those are definite avenues to explore further. I have been working on tree population distribution of the different species and trying to figure out why certain areas call whilst other repel me. Atm the species make up seems to be important. I have books by Corine Boyer and Tess Whitehurst which have been enough to help me so far. My connections with certain species is interesting when examining their magic and symbolism.

Totally agree with too much to learn. I will never know all the things and I have accepted that but whilst I am perfecting my shielding, visualisation and nurturing of my inner child I am not comfortable in doing too much practical things. So I am seeking understanding magically of why things certain things in my life are how they are. It is truly fascinating and actually helping me find peace.

Owlshooting we have already established some witches can make themselves invisible, but perhaps not in the manner that you meant.

Tess Whitehurst's book has breadth, and might be a place to start. But I am a believer that there is no one book fits all and that each reader needs to find the author and book that resonates with them. I much prefer the layout, and visual style of Corine Boyer book. The depth of it makes my soul happy, whilst fully aware that to do that for all the species of trees would make one unweilding mighty tome.
