Hi, I really hope I'm not being disrespectful by posting this. When I was younger I dabbled a little in spell, had a tarot deck, and have always been open to all kinds of spiritual ideas, witchcraft being one of them in the sense that I believe in and respect the power of energy and nature. I'm in a difficult situation and my gut is telling me that what needs to happen is (for want of a better term, again apologies) a spell to be cast. Looking up what feels right, a binding spell. But, I'm not a witch. It feels kind of disrespectful to look up a spell and carry it out when I'm not practicing. Like an atheist saying a prayer or something. So is it a thing where I could ask someone to cast one for me, like I'd ask my Catholic mother to light a candle (which I'd do except she'd ask me why and I don't want to tell her). Is that s thing? Could I ask one of you please? I'd pay or make a donation or whatever was appropriate. As you can probably tell I'm feeling a little desperate. Hope that's ok to ask but if not I totally understand. Thanks.

Ittakestwo · 23/08/2018 22:28

Just laughing to myself about my last post and the similarities of it with Peter Kay’s quaver crisp packet joke (apologies to those who’ve never heard it). But since I’ve been learning about witchcraft I have been more aware of things I wouldn’t normally.
@feelingscared2018 I’m sorry your having troubles. I’m pretty new to this and spell work is something way further down the line for me.
But I’ve been through some difficult situations and survived without the need of spells or magik. Sometimes just a clear head, someone to talk to and a plan can help. I hope you get a resolve.

BlankTimes · 23/08/2018 23:03

feeling scared I don't know anyone who would do a binding for you. I know plenty people who would advise you about things you can do to change the situation, but they probably don't involve spells.

Why not try a cutting the cords meditation if it's someone you want no further contact with?

feelingscared2018 · 24/08/2018 00:26

I thought I was probably clutching at straws. But thank you both.

Insomma1 · 24/08/2018 07:29

@Zapho.... I'm not here to absorb or engage in other people's drama. It doesn't change it and the cycle goes on"

Yes, taken a very long time to accept this.

Recently I've been aware of sensing a mismatch in energy when coming across new people far more easily. It helps me to keep boundaries in place. When people are already in our lives, it's a lot harder but I'm getting better.

Zaphodbebblebrox · 24/08/2018 09:24

Me too Insomnia! Totally agree it's much harder when it's already in your life.

Zaphodbebblebrox · 24/08/2018 10:51

😂 at the Peter Kay quavers thing ittakestwo! Joking aside, I do love the magic of synchronicity and 'signs', IME it brings meaning to life. I like that Smile

feelingscared2018 sorry to hear you're having a tough time. No, it's not disrespectful to ask or for you to carry out what your gut is telling you yourself.

For me, witchcraft is not a religion or exclusive membership club. It's about setting intentions to achieve desired outcomes, for something you want or to repell something you don't want. The spell itself is a ritual that gives focus and symbolism to your intention. That's my view anyway.

Obviously we don't know what your situation is but if you've found a spell you'd like to do and it's not designed to harm but to protect you then I see no issue with you doing it. There are some lovely kits you can buy online if that feels more comfortable to you.

I think the important thing is to trust your gut and have faith that your intentions carry power.
I like BlankTimes suggestion of a cord cutting meditation too.

Wishing you peace and protection from whatever is troubling you

PeonyBlooms · 24/08/2018 11:44

Speakout I think it's you who has a witchy shop. Would you be able to send me the link? Looking to buy some goodies.

Ittakestwo · 24/08/2018 12:44

@BlankTimes I like the suggestion of the cutting cords meditation, I’m going to give that a try tonight.

@Zaphodbebblebrox I love your explanation on witchcraft and spells. Intentions are what count, the ritual is what helps us focus our thoughts. This is exactly how it feels to me now. It is such a natural process once you feel it.

It’s raining here today so it’s a cozy day in baking herb scones and making soup. I have a floordrobe to sort through been putting it off but I want to cleanse my bedroom today it always lifts my mood.
Wishing you all well.

Zaphodbebblebrox · 24/08/2018 15:19

Thank you ittakestwo
Herb scones and soup sounds delicious Smile

BlankTimes · 24/08/2018 15:58

The cutting the cords meditation can be a very final thing to do so before you start, make absolutely sure that's what you really want to do. First, decide how that person is 'tied' to you. Consider all the connections you have with that person, they can be physical, emotional, financial, romantic, mental, idealistic, familial and a whole host of other things.

Then put your protection in place, then you meditate and cut or undo each of the ties you've recognised, one by one. Sometimes you miss some ties, it's hard to identify them all the first time. Never mind, carry on until all ties are broken. visualise whatever is most meaningful to you.

Very simply put, spells are focused/directed will and intention. Nothing else. A good friend of mine says 'Everything else is just foreplay.' Experience can give you the ability to just do it, and on occasion that's sometimes necessary, but I for one enjoy a lot of the preliminaries that surround it Wink

FitzsFool · 24/08/2018 19:49

Any cake left? Or herby scones and soup sounds good. Smile

Elphame I hope your dad is recovering well. I’m sure your presence will be beneficial to him.

Zaphod I appreciate the way you are so open about your experiences. The way you can see how even unexpected turn of events have a place. It’s reassuring and encouraging to read.

Peony hi there. I find Buddhism interesting too. I’m finding so many aspects of paganism and witchiness cross with Eastern philosophies. It’s fascinating. Like the same seeds of elemental truth keep germinating at different times and different places. The flowers might look different but the roots are essentially the same.

Hello everyone else I’ve missed, I’ve enjoyed all your contributions. It’s Friday so I raise a glass to all of us here Wine. I presume wine is acceptable even in witchy circles on a Friday night. Wink

So grey and rainy here. Really feeling the switch in seasons tonight.

FitzsFool · 24/08/2018 19:51

BlankTimes forgot to add, I liked your definition of ‘spell’. It was helpful to me.x

ThatsNotEvenAWord · 24/08/2018 20:20

Cheers Fitz!

I have left some salt water in the living room to have a little clear out. DH asked what it was, I’m slowly dripfeeding some little witchy ways into our life!

Today I realised that I’ve had a hare next to my bed in the form of a little ornament that my mum bought me :) that made me smile to realise.

Sent a friend a parcel today so spent a little while trying to infuse it with good luck and intentions. I was wondering if many of you do (good!) spells for people who don’t know they’re being done and how that affects what you do?

Ittakestwo · 24/08/2018 20:35

Yes @FitzFool plenty scones of scones left 😉.

I’ve been leafing through some of my late MIL’s cook books its been lovely I found handwritten notes and pressed flowers.
She was an amazing lady who would tell such wonderful stories. She often shared her tales of spirit guides and psychic experiences I miss her.

speakout · 24/08/2018 21:17

Evening everyone- a busy week here, so haven't had much time to post, but I have enjoyed reading what everyone is up to.

And a warm welcome to the newcomers!

Evening all!

Just checking in to say hi to all and I hope that both you and your Dad are doing well @elphame

Have had lots of interesting experiences this week but seem to now be going down with a cold. Time for some lemon and ginger tea I think. 😊

bookbuddy · 25/08/2018 01:08

Hi there, I’m just starting to take it all a bit more seriously having dipped in and out since childhood. Today I’ve had my first go at runes (been in a bag in the bedroom for a good few years). I’m very into spirituality, practice mindfulness, use crystals, tarot, angel cards, use and grow herbs and use salt as a remedy for just about everything. So hoping I’ll fit in here! Smile my offering to the group Flowers

speakout · 25/08/2018 07:25

bookbuddy welcome.

GeeIneverthoughtofthat · 25/08/2018 09:25

Morning all

I wanted to come back and talk about some of the things that have happened to me recently.

I work in a job that involves helping people at difficult times. So it’s usually busy. Since I started better self care and trying to be more conscious of things work seems to have exploded.

No matter what I did to manage the situation I couldn’t seem to stop the requests increasing. I said that I would have to concentrate on existing work. That then increased as people that I was already working with came back with additional requests. People that I had not heard from in months suddenly popped up. I passed any new requests onto a colleague. People then rang me directly because they got my number from friends recommendations.

Whilst it’s good to be popular it’s also exhausting!

Is there something about looking after yourself that subtly creates these changes? It’s rather like enjoying cleaning the front of the house and suddenly people notice that it’s there and you get a stream of visitors.

So, If I am creating this issue myself how can I tone it down a bit? It’s a bit like cooking. I’ve got the gas on too high!

I saw upthread about how you can make yourself less visible. Thinking of mist or fog rising. Maybe i need to learn how to do that next! Smile

So, over to you wise ones.

Elphame · 25/08/2018 09:45

Thank you all so much for the well wishes. Dad is looking very tired, at 80 it’s taken it out of him so I’m staying until tomorrow. Today’s job is sorting out Mums car. She can’t drive his and hers hasn’t been driven much for years so it’s not reliable.

Looking at the thread I have a lot of catching up to do!

Blessings everyone

Zaphodbebblebrox · 25/08/2018 14:30

Good to hear from you Elphame hope all goes well with getting the car sorted. Uplifting vibes continue to be sent your way.

Thatsnot it's lovely to hear about the intention you infused into your friend's parcel. Yes, I do that too- with gifts and also with food I've made to share. I'm sure it's all much more special for it!

Ittakestwo sounds like your MIL was a wonderful woman, how lovely to have her books with their hidden treasures. I bet there's a special magic in anything you make from them, infused with her energy. I like to believe that if you have a good relationship with someone, then their energy lives on in you.

Thank you for your kind words Fitz, I really appreciate being able to share experiences and thoughts here. I get a lot from reading the wise words everyone shares here- always learning something new

Gee it sounds like you've supercharged your energy and everyone wants some of it! Great work there. Good idea to try some of Elphames invisibility methods for work I think. It'd be shame to dim your light, it sounds like it's shining beautifully. Just a bit of a tweak so other's wanting a piece of it doesn't drain you I think.

speakout I hope you have a chance for some rnr over the long weekend after your busy week

bookbuddy welcome, its good to have you join us

Smile

"the same seeds of elemental truth keep germinating at different times and different places. The flowers might look different but the roots are essentially the same"

This really resonates with me. I've thought about it a lot recently.

Like the law of attraction for example- it seems to be an enduring theme across different belief systems.

The bible says 'whatever you shall ask for, believing, you will receive', Abraham Hicks, The Secret and cosmic ordering all work on the premise that in order to gain a certain energy (happiness for e.g.) you need to generate it; believe you have it. Like attracts like.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy works on changing thought patterns to become more positive thus attracting more positive circumstances. Flow Psychology tells us that when we shut down mental chatter and become absorbed in something we love, then we're at our most productive.

To me, the concept is the same, yet 'hung on' different frameworks. To me it's also a central premise of witchcraft. I love the freedom of not subscribing to a certain set of beliefs but working in a way that feels personal to me..

MidnightVelvetthe7th · 25/08/2018 17:48

Hello everyone,

Just had a fab week in Northumberland, found loads of sea glass but no hag stones sadly! We had a day where we walked along the coast to Dunstanborough castle & the sea was amazing, it was silver, like a sea of mercury! I'd really love to live by the sea, but sadly I'm in the Midlands so not much chance :) :)

Have returned feeling restored though, I hope you all had a good week x
