If I ever asked my mum if she believed in god when I was little, she’d say no, I believe in Mother Nature :)

Apart from a phase of dabbling when I was around 13 with my friends this is the beginning for me though.

queenrollo · 27/08/2018 20:14

My husband has broken his ankle. It's obviously not great, but we're counting our blessings that it's happened at a 'good' time. It could have been much worse!

I am tired though and the house is chaos which isn't helping.

Ittakestwo · 27/08/2018 20:20

@queenrollo wishing your DH a speedy recovery.

ThatsNotEvenAWord · 27/08/2018 20:29

Oh no queenrollo hope it heals quickly

Elphame · 27/08/2018 20:51

Ittakestwo I spent part of my childhood abroad and had friends from different cultures and faiths and although I was in a convent school (!) the dominant religions were not Christian and with atheist parents I didn't get the general Christian conditioning you tend to have in the UK. Combine a generally paganish up bringing with a rather witchy grandmother and it isn't that surprising I turned out rather unconventional!

queenrollo hope your DH's ankle heals fast and well.

I was up May Hill this afternoon on a fungi hunt. Not a terribly successful one sadly, there was one ancient Fly Agaric, a couple of mature parasols, far too many sickeners, and a few fly eaten ceps. Certainly nothing worth harvesting. Everything was well past its best.

MidnightVelvetthe7th · 27/08/2018 21:14

Ah wishing fast healing for your dh queenrollo

I'm starting a new job tomorrow and have gone all anxious! Can't stop worrying about it.

ThatsNotEvenAWord · 27/08/2018 21:35

MidnightVelvetthe7th · 28/08/2018 06:32

Thanks Thats, no sadly not, should have been more prepared x

speakout · 28/08/2018 06:36

MidnightVelvetthe7th

Take a few moments to meditate this morning.

Light a candle, use some lavender or geranium oil and focus on the flame, Capture that image - the living source- and hold it in your mind's eye as you go to your interview.
If nerves overcome you use that image to calm you.

Also remember you wouldn’t have the job if you weren’t good enough to do it! Hope today goes really well :)

Seeing orbs

Morning everyone, so am seeing red orbs in my minds eye during my spell castings. I quite like them but wondered if this is common for you too?

Yesterday, I asked for peace for someone else and that was the first time I saw the orbs. I saw the person later and I know ^^**I felt quite serene. He seemed a lot happier too. I told him I've been praying for a resolution to his problems as his mental state is so fragile, I didn't feel I could say more than that.

Anyway, hope you all have a happy, peaceful day.

MidnightVelvetthe7th · 28/08/2018 07:50

Thank you speakout and that's, feeling better now and ready to take it on 😀❤️

Morning insomnia, I have no experience of orbs but others will xx

MidnightVelvetthe7th · 28/08/2018 07:51

Insomma, sorry I didn't notice my autocorrect in action! x

Insomma1 · 28/08/2018 07:58

That's okay.... and good luck for today!

Elphame · 28/08/2018 08:36

MidnightVelvetthe7th I'm sure all will go great! Enjoy your first day Smile

Zaphodbebblebrox · 28/08/2018 08:49

All the best for today Midnight! Positive vibes coming your way Smile

PeonyBlooms · 28/08/2018 11:22

There's been a definite change in the air here. Autumn is coming and I couldn't be happier about it! I've been up since 5 am picking herbs and now I'm making lots of heart soups and stews - stirring good intentions into the mix of course - along with herbal lip balms, body washes, and perfumes. I love this time of year!

PeonyBlooms · 28/08/2018 12:05

Insomma1 I haven't seen red orbs when spellcasting, but I have seen them (and other colours) when meditating. In Buddhism you're supposed to ignore them because they're a distraction! They could possibly be a visual representation of your energy maybe?

Insomma1 · 28/08/2018 12:56

Thanks Peony... I did actually feel like it was a deep meditation. Far deeper than I'd ever experienced and very quickly. Maybe the focus of the ritual helps us to go deeper?

Also, what strikes me as I begin the craft is it doesn't appear to be very different from lighting a candle in a church and praying or saying some Zen chant during practice (hardly evil or scary as some believe) But the feeling is far more powerful. I kind of feel like I'm being hugged too.

PeonyBlooms · 28/08/2018 13:21

Yes, it isn't really much different than the focusing of the mind, setting intentions and putting yourself into a higher frame of mind that occurs in meditation/prayer/various other religious practices when you get right down to it.

speakout · 28/08/2018 14:06

I agree there are some similarities but massive differences too.

Insomma1 · 28/08/2018 17:50

@speakout... you mean in terms of whom we ask for help i.e Mother Earth/"Goddess? I understand the personal power concept discussion we had but are you saying the goddess is within us rather than external?

In my mind, I think I'm still asking an external entity.... Help! I'm so confused Confused

speakout · 28/08/2018 17:59

Insomma1 I think it is both within and without.

But if we honour the external in magic then we also honour ourselves.

I think the degree to which you see a goddess as external or intrinsic is a personal one.
Some may prefer to work with archetypes. some like to see pagan deities as external sources of power.

My OH works with Spinoza ideas, I consider myself an atheist, yet I work with deities.

Life is confusing.

And there are no right answers, trust your heart and what feels right to you.

OP posts:
Elphame · 28/08/2018 18:13

It is very confusing!

Unlike speakout I'm a theist so I believe in and honour the Gods as distinct individuals external to me but also internal as ultimately we are all part of the divine.

For me prayer and spellwork are very different. I find prayer to be passive - I am asking a deity to do something for me.

In spellwork I am crafting my intent, setting something in motion and causing it to manifest using power from a number of possible sources. I may sometimes request assistance from my patron deities but it's done on a quid pro quo basis ie it costs me!

blueangel1 · 28/08/2018 18:29

@elphame I used to live a few miles away from May Hill!
