land of litotes

Papillon · 16/07/2004 08:52

I did not now what to call our new vision land thread. Always wishing to imagine and roam I picked a word from random in the dictionary, cause I did like AT ALL the description they had for visionary. Hence we are the land of litotes. Where the quiet messages are found for those who look for them that vision of farness beyond the self bringing greater insight, intention and bearing into ones own life and into all things.

How is baby paps is she eating ok

melsy · 16/07/2004 15:04

Miss ironic you are very clever!! Did you say you dont like the visonary description ?? Do we still have all our rooms the deck, the hot spa, sea water pressure jets pool, the bedrooms , thai room , summer room, winter room , food room ??

I am in need of reiki today all over & so is little dd as she got stuing by a hornet . I just need to sit in peace and quiet today on soft quilted cotton place with pillows and warm colours and soft music. nothing to taxing. I think It will be a bedroom space with a fireplace sunk into the wall. and fabric curtains that flow to the floor. Dark walls with coffee coloured soft quilted head board.

Hope you are enjoying the canoe little baby paps. Hope to speak soon paps , as missing our daily msn chats .

I would like to talk more of continuum concept , but not sure were to start ?? the parenting board or here, as its more philosophy of parenting???

Havnt spoken with gmama for a while either , how are you doing and what do you fancy doing in our home of litotes ??

melsy · 16/07/2004 15:06

I must say Im smiling now , as this spac ehas allowed me to visulaise a great space just now and it has calmed me a bit from my malaise today.

Papillon · 16/07/2004 16:46

Melsy I did not like the definition in my dictionary for visionary - I definately love our home and it still has the deck, the salt spa, the lake, the herb garden, the forest, bedrooms etc etc....

We had a fabulous day and the ferry ride was fun. Also went down a long narrow tunnel which was most exciting.

Baby paps is eating superbly Gmama

talk soon Melsy - the weather is so great here now, I have been outdoor woman!

Hi guys and farewell. Am now back form Ireland have managed to pack and am off away until August to Italy. I will think of you all as I eat and drink and smile fondly at my children playing in the pool and behaving well in the sunshine. We are going to read Treasure Island this year and I am looking forward to their games of pirates and treasure.

Anyway love the new land of litotes although strange word paps. looking forward to our August meetings. I will miss you all bye.

melsy · 16/07/2004 22:42

Miss you too glitteratzia ,but enjoy all that wine, tomatos, pasta, olive oil , yum yum ,Grazi grazi , prego prego, bella donna, ciao bella.

Gaia women, yes litotes is an interesting word. I learn so much from MN !!!

edam · 16/07/2004 23:20

Litotes is the opposite of hyperbole IIRC: ie understatement rather than overstatement.
Couldn't resist pointing this out ? hope I have'n't destroyed your inner peace and tranquility .

Papillon · 17/07/2004 18:58

thanks Eddm for the English lesson, nice to see my dictionary pick drew you in! You should have stopped for a massage and glass of vino on the deck - you missed out :p

The word works for me - This is a place for relaxation, understatement, and mysterious ways. So no inner peace disturbed by you, instead the thunder storm and lightening we are having is making me jump abit right now. NOT my favourite thing in the world.

This thread is soooo relaxed I made a punctuation error while being pedantic about English. Ironic, huh .

gothicmama · 17/07/2004 20:58

never mind edam I usualy get so relaxed I forget all about puntuation and spelling. Have you read eats, shoots and leaves - fab

edam · 17/07/2004 21:09

Very entertaining book. Has made me feel all empowered about being pedantic though, I warn you .

gothicmama · 17/07/2004 21:10

It had the same effect on Dh I just read it for the panda joke !

melsy · 17/07/2004 22:00

NO pedantics in here please , edam , only pure blissed hedonism and calm allowed.

Papillon · 19/07/2004 14:32

Melsy - you are being all pedantic today and crapping out on MSN I hope it is only MSN not working and that your antiquated piece of electrical equipment hasn´t gone all wonky!

I am off for a walk in the forest and then for a swim in the lake

OP posts:
melsy · 21/07/2004 18:49

back from a busy day - helping an Egyptian couple with the 5 month old who will not sleep. Paps baby whisperer managed to get her to sleep in no time at all and now i am an Egyptian Goddess

Then swam in the river and hung out with friends. No wonder Melsy that I have been absent when RL is so summery and wonderful at the mo!

Sibble, how you doing? The baby must be very close to coming!!

Hey, you could have the birth here in our virtual home!! Where would you like to be when it happens? You will have to tell us, if the inspiration takes you

OP posts:
melsy · 21/07/2004 19:58

Now thats a lovely idea, but it will be the calmest beutiful birth ever.

RL life does sound good over there , all that swimming in the lake and sun , we have no sun in RL here. So I come here for my daily balm!!

sibble · 21/07/2004 20:06

thanks guys, I have been lurking but not posting, a bit preocuppied with baby in RL. Saw midwife last week and he has turned, is breech, big for dates etc so am having a scan this morning, back to hospital tomorrow and maybe caesarian next week....sooooo....a home birth in our 'home' sounds great...first I would lounge in the spa and pool in the shade, DS would be happily plyaing in teh creche so I wouldn't need to worry about him, I could then get out the spa just in time to deliver the baby next to a roaring fire on a fur rug, wrap us both up afterwards and sit and enjoy the view of the woods and the sun setting....
how does that sound

Papillon · 21/07/2004 20:11

sounds beautiful

we can all be your midwife, doula attendants!

Stoke the fire, place soothing herbal balms upon you (from our garden of course) and be at your beck and call!!

gothicmama · 22/07/2004 17:21

Papillon · 22/07/2004 18:59

or perhaps kneeling on the bed with hands on the floor

Hello gothicmama

melsy · 22/07/2004 19:16

That just sounded awesome Sibble and so wonderful with the fire and blankets. I just felt all warm and fuzzy there. I hope its all ok ,ooh exciting another ickle sibble on the way, but I wont get cuddles in rl . But I will have virtual ones instead. Bless you both for the next days ahead.

sibble · 22/07/2004 20:27

well, have spent the last week contorting in Rl in positions that would make olga corbett (showing my age) proud and baby has turned and is back to head down ready to go so stoke that fire and get the fur rugs out and hey as this is virtual I'll have a lovely warming glass or two of very expensive red wine afterwards to savour the moment while babe sleeps contentedly.
thanks all for your messages....
ps have packed the experiential guide into my hospital bag in case in hospital for a few days - may come back all enlightened whenever....

gothicmama · 22/07/2004 20:40
