SparkyStars, hello and welcome. I will add my prayers for you and your family. I am sorry to hear about your brother.

I think the belief that one could have done more is a defence mechanism against the realisation that we are really helpless in what others do. Sometimes it does not matter how much you love or support, the actions of another person are beyond your control. The 'what if I had done x or y or tried z' is a natural response to overwhelming grief or loss, but there is nothing you could have done. I pray that your DB is at peace and that you have support at this difficult timeFlowers

Dutch, my DD is 11 months old.

Cocoa thank you.

Dutchoma · 05/12/2016 20:57

So very little still. And still so totally dependent on you. Praying for you and your dd and all your family. Are you all reasonably close to each other? How has your brother's death affected your other siblings and your mother? It will be different for all of you of course.

You are very welcome here Lumpy. Praying that you will feel that you face whatever it is tomorrow in the strength of the Lord and all will be well. Do update us, when it is all over.

Angry

trying not to blow.... one herd of elephants small boy on the landing above my head constantly thundering, one violin practice where I seriously feared for the safty of said violin or bow, one phone call to mother going over the same ground again and again and again... one set of creaking bumping stairs, one email to sil trying to sort out presents... (difficult in that concentrating with previously mentioned thundering on landing and faffing about looking for ideas with time pressure) one late night in the library... one stress over year six girls... and ear ache and low blood sugar.

wwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

CocoaX · 05/12/2016 21:13

Lumpylump, I am not sure that this thread operates as a conversation in real time, discussions co-exist without overlapping. I add my prayers for you tomorrow.

Bloomed · 05/12/2016 22:32

Adding my prayers tonight. Things are still very up in the air here. Am hoping I'll see my way clearly soon.

Dutchoma · 05/12/2016 22:42

I hope that the herd of elephants small boy is now in bed and his violin safely stowed away.

Lumpy, Sparky, Bloomed - praying for all your intentions.

Hope DC are peaceful now Bes and that MHD's daughter recovers from her illness in the midst of mock exams.

Xmas Grin conversations are never real time on threads or messenger services. So many replies at once. There's no way not to land in the middle of a train of thought. May God's blessed peace be with you all tonight.

Tuo · 06/12/2016 00:14

Sparky - praying for you and your family at this awful, difficult time for you all. Suicide always leaves a sense of guilt I think, in those left behind (my own family has been touched by this, though not my immediate family). Please believe what others have said: there was nothing you could have done and you have nothing to feel bad about. Your brother was ill, and although you and others would have liked to have been able to make him better, ultimately that wasn't possible... but he died of an illness, just as much as if he had had some purely physical disease. I pray that he is now at peace and that you too may find peace in your heart as time goes on.

Lumpy - you are very welcome here. Praying for peace for you tomorrow and that whatever happens it's not as bad or as stressful as you feared.

BES - praying for peace in your household too.

MHD - prayers for your DD as she completes her mocks.

Bloomed - prayers for clarity of vision for you.

Also keeping prayers going for all, including Orchid, Edd, Oma, Lissette, PA and others.

A prayer of St Augustine

Watch, dear Lord, with those who wake, or watch, or weep tonight, and let your angels protect those who sleep. Tend the sick. Refresh the weary. Sustain the dying. Calm the suffering. Pity the distressed. We ask this for the sake of your love. Amen.

BlackeyedSusan · 06/12/2016 07:56

he got into the bath eventually and all was quiet afterwards. thanks.

He is off on a trip today. School have not got back to me. He is off on a trip to the church building in which he had a massive meltdown due to sensory issues.

originalmavis · 06/12/2016 08:00

Tuo - that prayer is really lovely.

Dutchoma · 06/12/2016 08:02

Hello all. Thomas, the young father I asked you all to pray for, died this morning at 2.02am. His wife Han was with him. Please will you all to pray for his family. He was a fighter, a brilliant father and a great friend to us.

CoolCarrie · 06/12/2016 13:47

Sparky I am so very sorry about your brother. May he rest in peace and may God give you and your family comfort and strength. x

Dutchoma · 06/12/2016 15:42

Very sorry to hear that CoolCarrie. My prayers are with you and, of course, Thomas' family. So very sorry they didn't make Christmas. It's through gritted teeth you say: "Thanks be to God".

Hello all. My best friend, who is 44, is currently in theatre undergoing open heart surgery. I'm now praying and waiting to hear if it's been successful. Please pray that it goes well and she is stable in ICU before the end of the day.
