A new Christian prayer thread for summer...

Tuo · 22/06/2016 01:38

This thread is a safe space where anyone - regular, occasional visitor, lurker, committed Christian or waverer - is welcome to come and leave their prayers in the knowledge that they will be prayed for. No problem is too big or small to share here, and if you just want to come and say 'hi', that's fine too.

Looking back through our previous thread, we pray in particular for:

abbsismyhero - for help with her anxiety and relationship with an abusive ex.

amberlight - for her work supporting people with autism, and for health and happiness for her and her family.

Aphie - for her fiancé's family following the sudden death of his uncle, and for her anxiety.

BlackEyedSusan - for all that she has to juggle as a single mum, for her DC, and for her mum.

Bluetinkerbell - five years on from the loss of her baby DD, Sterre.

Cocoa button - for issues around the safety of her DS2.

Dontbesilly - for strength as she grieves the loss of her dad, for her mum and the rest of her family, for her DD's school issues, and for Dont's own health.

drspouse - for full recovery from a recent chest infection and for happiness and a warm welcome in her new church.

DutchOma - with gratitude for all she does to support people on this thread and elsewhere, and for her to find peace and joy in her life following the loss of her beloved Bob.

EdithSimcox - for her to find joy and fulfilment in her faith and understanding and support from her DP.

ethelb - for her MIL who has blood clots in her leg and suspected sarcoma, and for all who love and care for her.

FaithLoveandHope - for her anxiety and depression to lift and for her to be able to avoid falling into despair and self-harm, and for her relationship with her DSD.

greyscalealmond - for her depression to be alleviated and for family relationships.

HardyLeodicean - especially for her FIL and for a recently-bereaved friend.

IHopeYouStepOnALegoPiece - for her friend's pregnancy.

LarrytheCucumber - for family members involved in fostering and adoption, for the DC involved, and for their birth parents and all involved in their ongoing care.

LifeofBriony - for her relationship with her DH and for her DD's friend, J, who is in a coma after a seizure.

LittleBootsTheBabe - for healing and happiness for an acquaintance of hers.

MadHairDay - for her health, and for her whole family at a time of change and uncertainty.

Malefriendproblem - for her relationship with an old friend which has turned sour, and for her DD who suffers from anxiety.

Newmamatobe - for her new life with her baby DD and free of alcohol.

niminypiminy - who will be ordained very soon.

passportmess - for her friend who has schleroderma.

Paulat2112 - for friends who are experiencing relationship difficulties.

PositiveAttitude - for her whole family, but especially her DD1 who has been depressed, her pregnant DD2, her mum and dad, her DH and his work. Above all, we pray for PA herself, who is always there for others when they need her, for her studies, and for a potential house-move.

QoF - for her relationship with her DH.

SESthebrave - for all who are grieving over the loss of a friend from church, for work-related decision-making, and for the friend who was Best Man at her wedding whose relationship has broken down following his wife's infidelity.

SouthernLassie - for her relationship with a colleague.

sweetandsour - for her auntie who has been diagnosed with cancer, and for her mum and all who love and care for her auntie.

Teallove - for her to feel free to move on following the breakdown of a relationship.

Trazzletoes - for her 6-year-old DS who has previously had cancer and who is now unwell again - praying for a swift (and hopefully reassuring) diagnosis and for Trazzletoes and all who love him at this worrying time.

Tweebee - for her DS to settle at nursery.

And also thinking of friends who haven't visited for a while, who who pop in only occasionally, including ALittleFaith, Anjelica27, Kaykat, JugglingFromHereToThere, ktef, legohurtswhenyoustandonit, Pandora97, shortscotty, weegiemum and others.

And, as always, prayers for anyone I've forgotten (with apologies), for all who lurk but don't post, and for newbies who may not have posted yet.

This prayer was posted by Edith on the old thread, and I really like it and would like it to stand for what this new thread is all about:

All that we are, Lord,
we place into your hands.
All that we do, Lord,
we place into your hands.

Everything we work for,
we place into your hands.
Everything we hope for,
we place into your hands.

The troubles that weary us,
we place into your hands.
Thoughts that disturb us,
we place into your hands.

Each that we pray for,
we place into your hands.
Each that we care for,
we place into your hands. Amen

Thank you all for your prayers. 4 days without a fight; maybe they're working.

Oma how awful, I can't understand how our country has seemingly become so hostile and unwelcoming, it's vile. Please remember that millions of us appreciate our European friends neighbours and colleagues, and love our vibrant and diverse communities. I am praying for you, and thanking God for the gift that you are to this little online community.

outwith good to see you here.

praying for mhd passport tuo bes and everyone else too

Outwith - you are very welcome here (have read your really helpful contributions on other threads and it's really good to see you here).

Praying for all who are being ordained this weekend, and especially for the wonderful niminypiminy. Also for all who are trying to understand God's vocation for them.

I'm sitting in a garden near work saying a prayer for you all. My friend with schleroderma is slightly proved but still terminal. Feeling jittery this morning -praying for personal calm. The garden helps - until I spot a wasp! Hope the house sale is progressing, don't and that you are not running ragged to get everything done. Praying for continued calm for all our uncharted waters. I hope you are sailing along full of joy Niminy.

Just seen that Joseph is having more platelet and blood transfusions, with a request from his mother to give blood if you are able to. Not just for him obviously, but a lot is needed.

Hello everyone. I am reading through and catching up with everything. I absolutely could not read Trazzletoes post without posting. I just want to say that absolutely I will add your lovely Joseph to my prayers and of course your family and the medical people surrounding him. Life isn't fair sometimes and we don't know why. However I really pray that your ds responds well to the treatments and remember that miracles happen every day and never give up hope. You sound so strong and yet so fragile in your post and I really feel for you. Please know that we are keeping you in prayer.

I am going to carefully read through the posts. I don't have any free time to myself with this new job and I am beginning to wonder if I have taken on too much.

Dh was involved in a motorcycle accident two years ago and after much work with a solicitor it looks like he has to go to court soon. The other driver is responsible and admitted so but has since changed his statement three times and found two witnesses who just happen to live next door to him. They are backing up his story unfortunately. The police couldn't find any witnesses to the accident so we are suspicious of this. Although the police pointed out the ever changing statements he concocts. The judge will likely rule on 50/50 split liability and we won't be able to recover all our losses. Can't believe how much some people receive in injury cases when we just need to be put in the position we were in before the accident in terms of the written off vehicle etc. Dh is adamant he doesn't want to appear in court due to nerves and having to listen to the other side lie. The other side is a nasty piece of work and dh is convinced of reprisals. I am praying for a settlement out of court as going to court will have a negative impact on dh new job asking for time off work at the busiest time. I am putting it at the foot of the cross and leaving it to God.

Bereavement counselling is going well. Although she isn't really talking about dad as such. More about how I feel. I said incredibly put on and due to problems with the funeral directors very upset and offended and insignificant. We are exploring this and it's interesting how things come to light.

Anyway I have waffled enough and will crack on and read the posts and catch up. Hoping you are all OK x

Report
Madhairday · 06/07/2016 14:24

Oh dont I do pray that will be resolved very quickly out of court, it sounds like a dreadful stress you really don't need right now :( Praying that the counselling will help you be able to talk everything through. Not sure what happened with the funeral directors but it sounds horrible.

Orchid, praying that today will be a good day and for peace with you and dh.

BES, hope ds is ok and not too annoyed to go to school!

Prayers for Joseph and trazzle.

Edith thank you so much for your words. They have really encouraged me as I'd held back recently on posting on those kinds of threads, lost confidence a little and felt so futile - like I never made any difference, so what was the point kind of thing - but your words have given me encouragement, thank you. Flowers

Hope niminy is in happy post-ordination glow!

dh has an interview monday. We have the familiarisation day tomorrow so any spare prayers welcome...

orchid, been praying today. how was your dh?

ds managed ok at school. (the massive meltdown was friday night when I was fearing for the integrity of the car and the safety of both myself and dd.) the promise of a treat for boys who had to goto school helped. so a trip to the park and icecreams at the park. plus extra time on the computer and of course all the prayer!

dd was most put out too at being off school. (that bloomin' murphy and his laws)

ds has got the shouty teacher next year. this is not good. I am meeting with the head to check that the current adaptions for his disability will be kept in place
