A new Christian prayer thread for summer...

Tuo · 22/06/2016 01:38

This thread is a safe space where anyone - regular, occasional visitor, lurker, committed Christian or waverer - is welcome to come and leave their prayers in the knowledge that they will be prayed for. No problem is too big or small to share here, and if you just want to come and say 'hi', that's fine too.

Looking back through our previous thread, we pray in particular for:

abbsismyhero - for help with her anxiety and relationship with an abusive ex.

amberlight - for her work supporting people with autism, and for health and happiness for her and her family.

Aphie - for her fiancé's family following the sudden death of his uncle, and for her anxiety.

BlackEyedSusan - for all that she has to juggle as a single mum, for her DC, and for her mum.

Bluetinkerbell - five years on from the loss of her baby DD, Sterre.

Cocoa button - for issues around the safety of her DS2.

Dontbesilly - for strength as she grieves the loss of her dad, for her mum and the rest of her family, for her DD's school issues, and for Dont's own health.

drspouse - for full recovery from a recent chest infection and for happiness and a warm welcome in her new church.

DutchOma - with gratitude for all she does to support people on this thread and elsewhere, and for her to find peace and joy in her life following the loss of her beloved Bob.

EdithSimcox - for her to find joy and fulfilment in her faith and understanding and support from her DP.

ethelb - for her MIL who has blood clots in her leg and suspected sarcoma, and for all who love and care for her.

FaithLoveandHope - for her anxiety and depression to lift and for her to be able to avoid falling into despair and self-harm, and for her relationship with her DSD.

greyscalealmond - for her depression to be alleviated and for family relationships.

HardyLeodicean - especially for her FIL and for a recently-bereaved friend.

IHopeYouStepOnALegoPiece - for her friend's pregnancy.

LarrytheCucumber - for family members involved in fostering and adoption, for the DC involved, and for their birth parents and all involved in their ongoing care.

LifeofBriony - for her relationship with her DH and for her DD's friend, J, who is in a coma after a seizure.

LittleBootsTheBabe - for healing and happiness for an acquaintance of hers.

MadHairDay - for her health, and for her whole family at a time of change and uncertainty.

Malefriendproblem - for her relationship with an old friend which has turned sour, and for her DD who suffers from anxiety.

Newmamatobe - for her new life with her baby DD and free of alcohol.

niminypiminy - who will be ordained very soon.

passportmess - for her friend who has schleroderma.

Paulat2112 - for friends who are experiencing relationship difficulties.

PositiveAttitude - for her whole family, but especially her DD1 who has been depressed, her pregnant DD2, her mum and dad, her DH and his work. Above all, we pray for PA herself, who is always there for others when they need her, for her studies, and for a potential house-move.

QoF - for her relationship with her DH.

SESthebrave - for all who are grieving over the loss of a friend from church, for work-related decision-making, and for the friend who was Best Man at her wedding whose relationship has broken down following his wife's infidelity.

SouthernLassie - for her relationship with a colleague.

sweetandsour - for her auntie who has been diagnosed with cancer, and for her mum and all who love and care for her auntie.

Teallove - for her to feel free to move on following the breakdown of a relationship.

Trazzletoes - for her 6-year-old DS who has previously had cancer and who is now unwell again - praying for a swift (and hopefully reassuring) diagnosis and for Trazzletoes and all who love him at this worrying time.

Tweebee - for her DS to settle at nursery.

And also thinking of friends who haven't visited for a while, who who pop in only occasionally, including ALittleFaith, Anjelica27, Kaykat, JugglingFromHereToThere, ktef, legohurtswhenyoustandonit, Pandora97, shortscotty, weegiemum and others.

And, as always, prayers for anyone I've forgotten (with apologies), for all who lurk but don't post, and for newbies who may not have posted yet.

This prayer was posted by Edith on the old thread, and I really like it and would like it to stand for what this new thread is all about:

All that we are, Lord,
we place into your hands.
All that we do, Lord,
we place into your hands.

Everything we work for,
we place into your hands.
Everything we hope for,
we place into your hands.

The troubles that weary us,
we place into your hands.
Thoughts that disturb us,
we place into your hands.

Each that we pray for,
we place into your hands.
Each that we care for,
we place into your hands. Amen

You are absolutely fine Cocoa posting as much or as little as you like, sometimes you just need to offload and have 'someone to talk to' even if it is only someone on the internet.
I had a boiler issue of my own this morning (yeah right, Sunday morning) in that I had no heat and no hot water. I managed to sort it with the help of a YouTube video (done by the chap who installed the boiler) and the help of my FB knitting group.

Orchidflower1 · 02/10/2016 19:58

cocoa don't ever feel you can't post all that you want to -- it's what we're here for xx

passportmess · 02/10/2016 23:07

[Grin] Dutchoma - YouTube and a FB knitting group for boiler repair! Would you branch out to take on a tumble dryer? If the company doesn't have my part tomorrow, would you all knit one for the machine please? It's been very wet here and I'm getting desperate.

BlackeyedSusan · 03/10/2016 00:43

clothes horse for washing.

is your house particularly damp?

passportmess · 03/10/2016 06:20

I have a clothes horse but there is a lot of condensation now! Will get there!

House not damp usually!

Dutchoma · 03/10/2016 07:26

Passport, it wasn't broken, just needed filling up and I was totally pathetic at managing it.
Hopefully your engineer will manage to get you your part and we won't have to start knitting.
Blessings on all your days.

BlackeyedSusan · 03/10/2016 07:37

spread the clothes out as much as possible, turn over and rotate so the wettest bits get put to the outside. items at the top dry quicker.

passportmess · 03/10/2016 14:48

Dutchoma, BES Thank you! Took your advice about spreading out. Tumble dryer now fixed but a lot of parts replaced. Luckily under warranty. I won't take it for granted. Still rather have a broken dryer than washing machine!

BlackeyedSusan · 03/10/2016 15:04

as I do not have a dryer at all, nor somewhere to dry stuff outside, i agree wih the washing machine is essential.

BlackeyedSusan · 03/10/2016 15:05

have got dd's dla renewal form. makes difficult reading, going over the worst of her needs.

Dutchoma · 03/10/2016 17:20

Praying for Noroomforalittleone as she attends her neurological appointment

Cocoabutton · 03/10/2016 18:48

Indeed yes Dutchoma - praying for NoRoom that she is okay today.

Praying for my dsis who lost her DD eighteen years ago through stillbirth, and that her wishes for a DC might yet be answered. I forgot in all my own stressSad. She was in my mind and then I forgot.

And for warm, not too condensed homesSmile.

For bes who cares for her DC with special needsFlowers, and for all you lovely ladies for your kindness Flowers. Praying that I am not too caught up in myself that I forget to see others' needs.

Orchidflower1 · 03/10/2016 18:54

Flowers for all.

NoRoomForALittleOne · 03/10/2016 23:12

Thank you for the prayers. The neurosurgeon has offered me surgery or nothing as my options. The nothing option isn't really an option to take for various reasons (including the surgeon basically telling me that I should have the surgery). I have to phone his secretary to let her know as I just couldn't get my head around it whilst in the appointment. It seems that I have high intracranial pressure that is causing my left eye to not track properly. It's not a good feeling. I shall phone the secretary tomorrow and ask for major brain surgery 😳

Dutchoma · 04/10/2016 07:20

The thing that occurred to me Room is that there is such an enormous lot of trust required in your situation. Trust in God first of all of course, but also trust in the surgeon and the rest of the medical team. You have so very few options to do otherwise. I'm praying this morning that you will see glimpses of God, so that you feel that you are safe in His hands. Not such the general feeling of 'of course God can be trusted' but some actual reinforcement of that trust in the coming few days.

BlackeyedSusan · 04/10/2016 15:07

oh heck, no. that is a lot to deal with.

I am off to see dd's teacher. let's hope it is a step towards getting a diagnosis in time for secondary school. and for getting the support she needs.

passportmess · 04/10/2016 16:23

NoRoom Im sorry to hear that you need surgery but, remember, your surgeon and his colleagues are highly skilled. Its just another day at the office for them and routine in their workplace. [Flowers]

Thanks for the prayers. I spoke to the surgeon's secretary this morning and I will be placed on a surgical list (4-6 weeks wait). I have phoned the Ann Conroy Trust in the past and will do again. I could really do with some space away from everyone to get my head around it without having to worry about everyone else. I feel like everyone is on top of me wanting to tell me how I should feel and think. It's not helpful.

Cocoabutton · 04/10/2016 20:37

Flowers NoRoom, lots of prayers for you. It is a lot to deal with. I am sorry it was not different or better news.

Bes I hope your meeting went well.

Dutchoma, your words about glimpses of God are lovely.

I have just been praying for my depression to lift; it seems to have set in a bit and I feel bad because things could be worse, as this thread reminds me. I would just like a bit of energy - not so much it is anxiety or panic, but not this leaden tiredness either. Maybe the anxiety just wore me outHmm

Prayers for allFlowers

BlackeyedSusan · 05/10/2016 00:28

meeting with teacher went well, need prayer for writing a response to an email. I have inadvertently upset someone while trying to get support that was promised for ds.

noroom prayers for you that you get well soon and that you feel god's love. Could you take yourself out/ away for even half a day to give yourself some thinking time?
