A new Christian prayer thread for summer...

Tuo · 22/06/2016 01:38

This thread is a safe space where anyone - regular, occasional visitor, lurker, committed Christian or waverer - is welcome to come and leave their prayers in the knowledge that they will be prayed for. No problem is too big or small to share here, and if you just want to come and say 'hi', that's fine too.

Looking back through our previous thread, we pray in particular for:

abbsismyhero - for help with her anxiety and relationship with an abusive ex.

amberlight - for her work supporting people with autism, and for health and happiness for her and her family.

Aphie - for her fiancé's family following the sudden death of his uncle, and for her anxiety.

BlackEyedSusan - for all that she has to juggle as a single mum, for her DC, and for her mum.

Bluetinkerbell - five years on from the loss of her baby DD, Sterre.

Cocoa button - for issues around the safety of her DS2.

Dontbesilly - for strength as she grieves the loss of her dad, for her mum and the rest of her family, for her DD's school issues, and for Dont's own health.

drspouse - for full recovery from a recent chest infection and for happiness and a warm welcome in her new church.

DutchOma - with gratitude for all she does to support people on this thread and elsewhere, and for her to find peace and joy in her life following the loss of her beloved Bob.

EdithSimcox - for her to find joy and fulfilment in her faith and understanding and support from her DP.

ethelb - for her MIL who has blood clots in her leg and suspected sarcoma, and for all who love and care for her.

FaithLoveandHope - for her anxiety and depression to lift and for her to be able to avoid falling into despair and self-harm, and for her relationship with her DSD.

greyscalealmond - for her depression to be alleviated and for family relationships.

HardyLeodicean - especially for her FIL and for a recently-bereaved friend.

IHopeYouStepOnALegoPiece - for her friend's pregnancy.

LarrytheCucumber - for family members involved in fostering and adoption, for the DC involved, and for their birth parents and all involved in their ongoing care.

LifeofBriony - for her relationship with her DH and for her DD's friend, J, who is in a coma after a seizure.

LittleBootsTheBabe - for healing and happiness for an acquaintance of hers.

MadHairDay - for her health, and for her whole family at a time of change and uncertainty.

Malefriendproblem - for her relationship with an old friend which has turned sour, and for her DD who suffers from anxiety.

Newmamatobe - for her new life with her baby DD and free of alcohol.

niminypiminy - who will be ordained very soon.

passportmess - for her friend who has schleroderma.

Paulat2112 - for friends who are experiencing relationship difficulties.

PositiveAttitude - for her whole family, but especially her DD1 who has been depressed, her pregnant DD2, her mum and dad, her DH and his work. Above all, we pray for PA herself, who is always there for others when they need her, for her studies, and for a potential house-move.

QoF - for her relationship with her DH.

SESthebrave - for all who are grieving over the loss of a friend from church, for work-related decision-making, and for the friend who was Best Man at her wedding whose relationship has broken down following his wife's infidelity.

SouthernLassie - for her relationship with a colleague.

sweetandsour - for her auntie who has been diagnosed with cancer, and for her mum and all who love and care for her auntie.

Teallove - for her to feel free to move on following the breakdown of a relationship.

Trazzletoes - for her 6-year-old DS who has previously had cancer and who is now unwell again - praying for a swift (and hopefully reassuring) diagnosis and for Trazzletoes and all who love him at this worrying time.

Tweebee - for her DS to settle at nursery.

And also thinking of friends who haven't visited for a while, who who pop in only occasionally, including ALittleFaith, Anjelica27, Kaykat, JugglingFromHereToThere, ktef, legohurtswhenyoustandonit, Pandora97, shortscotty, weegiemum and others.

And, as always, prayers for anyone I've forgotten (with apologies), for all who lurk but don't post, and for newbies who may not have posted yet.

This prayer was posted by Edith on the old thread, and I really like it and would like it to stand for what this new thread is all about:

All that we are, Lord,
we place into your hands.
All that we do, Lord,
we place into your hands.

Everything we work for,
we place into your hands.
Everything we hope for,
we place into your hands.

The troubles that weary us,
we place into your hands.
Thoughts that disturb us,
we place into your hands.

Each that we pray for,
we place into your hands.
Each that we care for,
we place into your hands. Amen

got to ring up about the radiator very soon. please pray I can find the number and not have a panic attack. already had to breathe through finding another address. which was where I thought it was... but hey ho, brain wired up weirdly and got really stressed about it.

been sorting out my room. so far on 8 groups of objects sorted.

Dutchoma · 28/07/2016 12:38

Pray to St Anthony

BlackeyedSusan · 28/07/2016 17:21

I have found the other half of the radiator. just got to clear the carpet so one could walk to it properly. I can see most of the carpet which is an iimprovement. need to pick up the last scattering of stuff which is bloody annoying.

i did not ring the heating engineer. too near to panic today to do that.

I have emptied ex's drawers. need to scrub them out now. then I can use them for my stuff. I can also now look in the under bed drawer on the far side. hoping for no nests of anything nasty.

Dutchoma · 28/07/2016 18:15

You're getting there.

Cocoabutton · 28/07/2016 21:20

Well done, BES.

Panicky day today here too - for xH related reasons. I have handed it to God and been praying for calm. xH still has the ability to provoke complete panic in me, even though I know rationally I have good advice, a plan and he is trying to reel it back to a situation he can control. Whereas it has gone beyond either of us being able to do that. I need to focus on not panicking but responding calmly, so have been reading my anxiety prayer. Any other suggestions would be welcome.

DS has been sick too, but is improving.

passport, I love the Aardvark story, that made me smile. I hope you are having a lovely holiday.

BlackeyedSusan · 28/07/2016 21:42

gah. ex h's

scrubbed drawers out. got to decide what to use them for. as I have a pile of dc's clothes that have no home...

they currently share one wardrobe that has one drawer. which is probably why we have a laundry mountain. that and being a lazy bugger

I have looked in the drawer under the bed. a bit dusty but not too bad. just one thing needing a wash and a wipe out with antibac on a cloth sorted it. there is even a smidgen of storage room..

got sore eyes with the dust. own fault

managed to clean the worst of the mould of the long neglected window. will do for now.

Dutchoma · 28/07/2016 21:53

You're nearly there BES. Try and have a rest now.

redsky7 · 28/07/2016 21:56

For Yvonne who is due to have a full hysterectomy. That she will heal well and be okay.

redsky7 · 28/07/2016 21:59

For Rachel whose husband died suddenly on Monday at the age of 35 years. Leaving two sons - 13 months old and 4 years. My heart breaks for her may she feel support and God's love to have the strength to carry on.

QoF · 28/07/2016 22:52

barefootcook · 29/07/2016 07:13

I am very scared of flying and am due to go on a long flight on Sunday back to New Zealand. I would be very grateful if you could pray for a smooth and stress free fight for us. Thank you all- it means a lot.

Dutchoma · 29/07/2016 07:47

So pleased to have you on the thread barefootcook. Glad that we will still have you when you are back in New Zealand. May God do with you on your travels and keep you very safe.

BlackeyedSusan · 29/07/2016 09:09

prayers for rachel and yvonne.

too much to do, too little time. please pray.

barefootcook · 29/07/2016 17:10

Thank you Dutchoma.

shortscotty · 29/07/2016 18:33

lurking and praying while having a bit of a wobble similar to Don't. Praying that I can curb my tongue as it is awfully acid then I regret my temper.

Dutchoma · 29/07/2016 18:42

Welcome shortscotty. If you have as much provocation as dont then I am not surprised that the odd sharp comment comes forth from your tongue. Probably you are both saints and angels. That's my guess and I'm sticking by it.

BlackeyedSusan · 29/07/2016 20:53

exhausted

I did not do as much as yesterday but I have made progress. there are three carrier bags of rubbish by the front door. I have made inroads into the laundry mountain, though my drawers and wardrobe are at risk of exploding. I am still wondering where to put the last of dd's clothes. her stacker box in the wardrobe is full. the wardrobe is full the drawer is full. I think I will have to find a new home for some of the books.

large parts of the floor have been hoovered, there is still a lot to do. it looks doable though. there will need to be a hell of a lot of work sorting out the stacker boxes and shelves. that can come later.

pray smallest one sleeps tonight.

Orchidflower1 · 30/07/2016 09:23

Well done bes you have been a busy bee-Smile take time to reflect on how much you have achieved not just what is still to be done. I find that helps to keep me calm when I've got lots of house jobs. Was really rattling through washing when it was hot but not so much now it's cooled off- but I'm less sticky which is a bonus!

Welcome to all newcomers- have prayed for all of you. barefoot please post once you've got settled back to let us know how you are.

I had a busy day yesterday and a disturbed night and ds up early this morning so come back to bed with a bit of toast! Dh out all day so working on calmness for myself.

LarrytheCucumber · 30/07/2016 11:59

More in the foster carer saga. The nearly four year old foster child starts transition to adopters on Monday. Child has been with foster carers a year so saying goodbye will be hard for all of us
Please pray for foster child for a good relationship with adopters and to settle in quickly. Social Services currently recommend that foster children should see their former foster carers after adoption so they know they are still interested in them. Please pray that the adopters will want to do this. This foster child went to see the baby in its new home yesterday which is good so child could see that the baby is happy.
And pray for the foster family as it is a big wrench after a year.
Thank you so much to those who have prayed before.

BlackeyedSusan · 30/07/2016 13:06

need to go and sort out that bloody flat again.

BlackeyedSusan · 30/07/2016 15:27

ex has got my car. taking to garage. hoping all goes well. eek.

BlackeyedSusan · 30/07/2016 18:08

got my car back with two new tyres and wheels balanced.

also got rid of an enormous box which was going to be hidey hole but would not fit by half an inch. it has gone to ex's as a box to make a fort. ds likes playing with a large stack of cardboard boxes there. now got a huge job of sorting out the mess in the kitchen.

got to do more work when I can see. dust allergy. self inflicted.

Orchidflower1 · 30/07/2016 18:31

You've had another busy day bes maybe blessing in disguise the box didn't fit. Smile

BlackeyedSusan · 30/07/2016 18:40

'spect so. he can still hide under the dressing table, unless I fill it up with storage boxes
