Christian Prayer Thread. Back to school and into Autumn

Dutchoma · 28/08/2015 17:38

As we were nearly at 1000 posts and TUO is both very busy and away today, I thought I might have a go at setting up a new thread.
I have looked back over nearly four months of prayers, of sharing, of support, of gladness and sadness and so much more. I think there are about 50 different people on the thread, some are there from beginning to end, some come in, are here for a few days and then don’t post any more.
Both are valuable, all are welcome, we share with you in anxiety and depression, in worry for others, but also in prayers answered, wonderful healing, good exam results and so much more.
But we also realise that life moves on, that the prayer thread was helpful for a while and is not so relevant now. Never be afraid to come back, we all need prayer and support.

So, like TUO I shall pick out a few names for the new thread, but leave behind some that have not posted for a while, hoping that they will come back and update us.
Specially thinking of: Anjelica27; I know how much this thread has helped you. Bsshbosh and wondering how she is now.

Whoagirrrrl, after her operation. Dizzydaffodil, Pandora37 and PeterSpots .

There are so many more names to remember: Alittleroom, Bluetinkerbell, DontstepontheMomeraths, Howtoapproachthis and several more.

And then the ones that are quite recent like:
ALittleFaith, Amberlight; BlackEyedSusan, Dontbesilly; EdithSimcox; FaithLoveandHope, Kaykat, Lightnessofbeing; MadHairDay; PositiveAttitude; QuestionofFaith; QuietIsland2; SESthebrave; TUO; Weegiemum; ZipadiSoozi

And if I have omitted any one, be assured that God never forgets and holds you fast in His love and mercy.

off to collect children. not sure what sortof meltdown it will be tonight.

poor love is struggling with school and boy does everyone know about it as he is very vocal about the issue.

Dontbesilly · 28/09/2015 20:33

Prayers for both Edith and Patchwork. Praying that things will work out for you both.

Your poor dd Bes. Hoping she gets to see her dad soon and he makes it up to her.

Tomorrow morning is a worrying time for dad and us. He has a pet scan at the new hospital. I am so scared of what it will reveal it's ridiculous. I have prayed continuously for a positive outcome and I have faith. If you could please pray for dad for tomorrow to be positive and hopeful, I would be so grateful.

Thinking of everyone and praying for you all too x

QofF · 28/09/2015 21:37

Thanks for that post Hardy, was what I needed to read tonight. Been feeling very anxious over last week, no real reason as such and I had been feeling a lot better for ages. Prayers would be gratefully received.
edith have been praying for you, how did the counselling go?
dont am praying for you and your dad and will be tomorrow.
patchwork praying that your faith will give you strength and that things will work out.
bes prayers and Flowers. You have so much to deal with and I so admire the way you somehow manage to soldier on

Dutchoma · 29/09/2015 07:42

Praying for you and your Dad this morning Dont.

Lovely to hear from you Hardy, how is ds getting on?
Praying for Anjelica. I have not heard from her, nor do I know how her ds is getting on. Thanking God that He knows and knows how best to support her.
Praying for TUO and her impending house move. Very exciting, but there is a lot going on.
Also praying for Roomforalittleone and her little ones. Also that she may soon feel better herself.
And praying for all on this thread on a new morning. May we all walk in the light of the Lord today.

That's a lovely prayer Hardy - "Keep us ever in your watch ...."
I might put that in a card to a friend because we've both been through hard times over the last year or so due to close and difficult bereavements but I'm sure for both of us happier times can lie ahead when we'll be able to
"walk again with light hearts and renewed spirits" Thanks

I happened to see her again last night at a school event which was a nice opportunity to catch up a bit, so I could follow that up with a card with this lovely prayer?

EdithSimcox · 29/09/2015 09:56

Thank you all for the prayers. It was ok, QoF, thanks. It'll be a long road but better to be trying than giving up.

That's a lovely idea Juggling (so long as she's a Christian!) Smile

QuietIsland2 · 29/09/2015 11:54

At work - praying for don't's dad and all other intentions on this thread. Xx

BlackeyedSusan · 29/09/2015 11:56

BlackeyedSusan · 29/09/2015 15:07

right school run. another day another meltdown.

BlackeyedSusan · 29/09/2015 18:04

another day another two or three meltdowns..

Tuo · 29/09/2015 22:01

Hello all, and sorry for being so quiet. I'm thinking of you all and praying. May go silent again for a few days, but wanted to just check in briefly.

Praying for all on this thread, but especially for Turtle and Edith. Also thinking of BES and especially her DS atm as he seems to be struggling with school. Thinking, too, of MHD's health, of PA's mum, of Anjelica and her DS, of Kay, of QoF and of Don't and her dad.

Thank you for that sustaining prayer, Hardy.

Here are some more sustaining (I hope) words from today's Northumbria Compline:

Tuo · 29/09/2015 22:01

(Errrr... what happened there?)

Here are the words:

O God, and Spirit, and Jesu, the Three,
from the crown of my head, O Trinity,
to the soles of my feet mine offering be.
Come I unto Thee, O Jesu, my King –
O Jesu, do Thou be my sheltering. Amen

morning mome...

prayerd for angelica.

Dontbesilly · 30/09/2015 13:57

Well dad had the scan and the results will be phoned to him either Monday or Tuesday next week. He has another round of chemotherapy tomorrow so that will wipe him out no doubt.

Thank you for the prayers, as always it's appreciated. It's also so reassuring to know that there are other people who are also praying for him too. People who I have never met but who are all amazing and supportive. It certainly helps me in the dark moments. Flowers

Praying for you all. Glad Ediths first session went OK, prayers that everything works out well for you both.

Bes. Hoping your ds has a better time at school. I so admire how you just cope and keep on going with everything you have to do. Hoping you are getting on well with the new hoover. How lucky to find one so close to home.

Quiet, I hope that you are getting to grips with the new challenges at work and all is going well.

Juggling. Did you find a nice card to go with the verse for your friend. It's a lovely idea.

Thanks for another lovely prayer Tuo.

Oma, hoping you are ok. Any news on your dgd and how big school is going?

PA, hoping that you have had good news about your mum and things are starting to look better for her.

I am thinking of everyone and praying for you all too, prayers that you are all well and stay safe in God's care.

Dutchoma · 30/09/2015 14:32

As far as we know dgd is doing ok at big school, but she is not saying a lot about it. She has started full time this week, last week she came home after lunch, not having eaten a thing because she wanted to play. She was found in the next playground up to that of her class, nobody noticed as she is very tall, like ds

OP posts:
Dutchoma · 30/09/2015 14:33

Glad to hear that your dad had the scan Dont. Lets hope the result is favourable, next week.

Sometimes you just land on something so relevant, by accident, it's weird ...

And this is my prayer: that your love may abound more and more in knowledge and depth of insight, so that you may be able to discern what is best and may be pure and blameless for the day of Christ. (Philippians 1:9-10 NIVUK)

Not that I'll ever be pure and blameless natch but a bit of knowledge and depth of insight so that I can discern what's best wouldn't go amiss. Put that with today's gospel, Luke 9:57-62, and it all starts to look a bit scary.

QuietIsland2 · 30/09/2015 18:18

Just read Luke 9:57-62 Edith. I don't think Jesus expects you to drop your family to follow Him - the essence is that sometimes the path to faith and indeed paths in life have obstacles but you should keep Him in your mind's eye (and heart) and He will give you rest.

Hope that makes sense. xx

Hope for good news from scan don't. Getting there with work and my line manager is appreciative.

Hello to all of you I haven't named - praying for you all. xxx

BlackeyedSusan · 01/10/2015 13:04

the big vacuum has begun. it picks up well. I have picked up half a cylinder full. in a 12.5 square foot patch. much more efficient than sweeping. and I have taken stuff down to the bin and down to the car for the charity shop.

BlackeyedSusan · 01/10/2015 15:08

off to gp for a referal to podiatry. need to actually see the gp for this to happen.

Pandora978 · 01/10/2015 17:28

Hope your dad gets good results next week dontbesilly. Must be such an anxious wait for you all.

Sentencing is about to happen, or so I've been told. But I'll believe it when I actually read it in the paper seeing as it's been delayed so long!

Dutchoma · 01/10/2015 19:45

I hope you get a uick and clear outcome, Pandora

OP posts:
BlackeyedSusan · 02/10/2015 07:36

BlackeyedSusan · 02/10/2015 11:24
