Welcome to a new prayer thread to take us into the summer. This is a safe and supportive place of prayer, where regulars, occasional visitors and lurkers, committed Christians and those just dipping a toe into the water are all equally welcome. Come and leave a prayer, tell us what's going on in your life, bring your worries, hopes, fears and joys to God, and know that you will be prayed for.

We pray, in particular, for...

... ALittleFaith, especially for her dad, who has been diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease;

... amberlight, for her work raising awareness of the ways in which we can work to make life easier for our autistic friends, and for her to know love and acceptance wherever she goes;

... Anjelica27, as she tries to find ways to support her DS through his mental health problems and self-harm;

... AnxiousKeziah, following the loss of her baby DS;

... BlackEyedSusan, for all the many things which she has to juggle in her life as a single parent; for good support for her DD and DS; and for her mum;

... BlueTinkerbell, thanking God for the safe arrival of her beautiful DD4;

... Bsshbosh, who has terminal cancer, for the best possible quality of life for her for as long as possible; also for her DH and DD as they travel this road with her;

... DizzyDaffodil, who is struggling, asking God to be with her and for her to find RL support at this time;

... DontstepontheMomeRaths, for her busy life as a single mum, and for the wonderful work she does through her church supporting people going through separation and divorce;

... DutchOma, thanking God for the wonderful support that she provides for so many on here;

... FaithLoveandHope, for her mental health; for decisions about her academic work; for her STB-FIL who has been diagnosed with cancer; and for her relationship with her DP;

... fakenamefornow, thanking God that things have taken a turn for the better for her;

... howtoapproachthis, for her health, following her diagnosis with CFS and for her to find support for herself and her DD;

... HydrochloricTulip, for stresses at home and at work;

... innerstrength100, for strength to decide what to do in the aftermath of the break-up of her relationship last year and the unexpected coming back into her life of her ex;

... Kaykat, continuing to pray for her as she goes through the stressful and painful process of divorce; praying, in particular, that she is able to find continue to support her DS through this process;

... LegallyBlonde77, as she goes through the adoption process - praying for a match very soon and for her family to be complete;

... LifeofBriony, for problems in her relationship with her DH;

... littlehouseinthebigwoods, for problems in her relationship with her controlling DH;

... MadHairDay, for her ongoing health issues;

... PositiveAttitude, especially for her mum who has dementia and for her dad, who finds it hard to accept help; for her DD2 recovering from a scary reaction to a dog-bite overseas, and for her whole family; for her studies and her role within her church; and for her and her DH as they plan new and exciting ways of working with the people of Cambodia;

... QuestionofFaith, as she tries to rebuild her life with her DH following his mental health problems and withdrawal from her;

... SESthebrave, for problems at work; also for her MIL who has had a cancer diagnosis;

... TooBusyByHalf, as she explores and hopefully rediscovers her faith;

... weegiemum, for her continued recovery from her very scary infection and septicaemia, and also for her DD's continued progress in overcoming her anorexia;

... ZipadiSoozi, for her dad who has dementia and for her mum and the whole family as they find ways to support him in this; also for her BIL who has cancer;

We pray also for all regular and occasional visitors including: Badvoc, BlessedAssurance, BlueSkies80, CaulkheadUpNorth, CharlotteCollins, chocolateteapot, cloutiedumpling, CocoaBean, DeladionInch, EilisCitron, FlabbyMummy, Gingercurl, JugglingFromHereToThere, ktef, legohurtswhenyoustandonit, LollipopViolet, LostinChilli, MaryBS, MrsPixieMoo, niminypiminy, ninetynineonehundred, PandaG, Pipbin, RoomForALittleOne, ScarletDancer, thegreenheartofmanyroundabouts, weegiemum, WobblyRainbow, Zing and for anyone I've forgotten to name-check (don't take it personally, please!). We pray for our muslim sisters over in the tea-room, at a time when many feel afraid in a world which seems suspicious of their faith, praying for peace and understanding between all faiths. And we pray for those who read and pray but don't post, for those who need our prayers but are afraid or too uncertain to post them, and for all those known to us in our own lives who need God's love.

Keep Your people, Lord,
in the arms of Your embrace.
Shelter them under Your wings.
Be their light in darkness.
Be their hope in distress.
Be their calm in anxiety.
Be strength in their weakness.
Be their comfort in pain.
Be their song in the night. Amen

Just dropping in to say to PA how good to hear that DD2 was listened to and believed. It is great when the criminal justice system gets things right. Prayers for you all.

PositiveAttitude · 08/07/2015 17:08

Thanks everyone....certainly a mixed bag of feelings. As a Christian I know I need to and actually do want to forgive him......but she is one of my babies!! although she is now 22

and today just gets better and better.....just found out I have passed level 3 accountancy with flying colours. Level 4 here I come in Septmeber.

Today could now take a massive nosedive in the "good day" stakes as I head off for a deacons meeting. Wink Grin

ninetynineonehundred · 08/07/2015 17:51

PA that's good news Smile

Thank you to all of you who have prayed for me. I've really felt His hand in my life this week. Things like missing Sir99 because I could bounce ideas off him for a business idea I've had. Then today a new friend came over, loved my idea and spent all day listening, giving new ideas, bouncing thoughts around.
All sorts of things like that Smile

I won't pretend that I've been praying for others on this thread yet (please let me linger on the outskirts for a while). It makes me feel like a user but I wanted to give you encouragement that your prayers are being answered.

QofF · 08/07/2015 18:23

glad to read that PA. Flowers
and Ninetynine - fantastic. I love it when you really feel His presence like that. Sometimes it just feels just so clear
Edith am thinking about you and praying for you.

BlackeyedSusan · 08/07/2015 20:39

rejoice with me for the best knife that was lost has been found.... and I do not have to trail down two flights of stairs to root through the bin looking for it.

99100 [lazy] Blush the thread is about supporting each other. sometimes oneis able to pray and sometimes one needs to be upheld in prayer. Glad that you are finding help and solutions.

heading down hill hormone wise and trying to be non worrying about not being able to shop for food other than at an expensive shop which I can park directly outside leaving ds visible in the car. this is quite an act of faith on my part. I have issues around food, being rationed at home and being made to eat off food. thankfully I did a big shop for fruit last friday so have got enough for the children's lunch and have quite a lot of frozen veggies in the freezer.

PeterSpots · 08/07/2015 22:49

PA my wishes for your daughter. We are not responsible for other people's action but we live with the consequences. I hope she gets peace & realises all the wonderful things she can be & the amazing love you have for her. I wish for her to realise the amazing, brave person she is. This isn't flippant but I believer 'you is kind, you is smart & you is important'

PeterSpots · 08/07/2015 22:51

May I ask for prayers tonight to make the right decision over my care & the right decision to help me overcome the nerve pain in my face & the bladder/pelvic problem.

Tuo · 09/07/2015 01:22

Popping in quickly, as it's rather late. Thanks for thinking of me, MHD - all is well here, though I could do with prayers for wisdom around a work issue. How are you, dear MHD... health-wise and in general?

PA - that's good news about DD2, though I understand the very mixed feelings (and of course it would have been better if this had never happened). I hope she does not feel bad for her attacker, but is able to see this as part of a process of recovery, for her and for him. Praying for her tonight and for all who love her.

BES - sorry things are difficult with the pox in the house. Can you do an internet shop and get it delivered?

Ninetynine - that is good that you feel God near you, even at this difficult time.

Peter - praying for you to find the right way forward with your health issues.

Prayers continuing for all.

bugger. ds seems to have an infected spot. off to the gp hopefully, to get it looked at.

BlackeyedSusan · 09/07/2015 11:49

got antibiotic cream and antihistamine. yay. paracetamol to follow when the pharmacy has it in.

PeterSpots · 09/07/2015 23:30

Hello please pray for me. I really feel like I can't go on. I have face pressure tingling constantly for 6 months & its getting worse/urethritis/back pain (new) numb bum/ I am loosing the will to carry on. I wake up & something else is wrong. I struggle every day. If I didn't have children. I don't know. I sobbed in my friends arms tonight. I don't know what's happening to me

DontstepontheMomeRaths · 10/07/2015 06:21

DD's at an assessment day at a new school. Please pray if it's the right school for her she'll not only have a wonderful day but she'll be offered a place and a bursary as otherwise I can't afford for her to go there.

SIL is in labour with a second much longed for baby. Prayers for safe delivery would be wonderful.

And finally MIL has her operation on her secondary cancer today. She doesn't know The Lord and I wish she did.

So lots to pray for from me. Sorry to fly by again.

Dutchoma · 10/07/2015 07:37

Peterspots that is such a heartfelt cry, thank God there was a friend you could cry to. There is nothing anyone can say that doesn't sound cliche and trite, so I am just spending some time thinking of you before the Lord and asking that He will make Himself known to you so that, even if you don't know what is happening you will feel that He does and is in control of the situation.
Mome thinking of your dd , also for your SIL and MIL. There is a lot to pray for, especially when you care about a loved one who does not know the Lord. Praying that dd will have a lovely day and will get the place and the bursary. She should do if her loveliness is anything to go by.

Can I ask for some prayer too, For the past six weeks or so I have been suffering with quite severe heel pain. Not too bad when I don't walk or stand on it, but sore when I do essential shopping and impossible to do any of the unnecessary going out that I like. It rather spoiled the holiday in Holland and I got in touch with the podiatrist as soon as I was back. I had hoped that I could pick up an insole from her yesterday, but it was not ready and now she is going on holiday for a week. So I have had to cancel my holiday which was due to start next Saturday and I'm feeling a bit cross and sorry for myself.

BlackeyedSusan · 10/07/2015 23:20

so sorry oma.

well I have finally had a long awaited burst of productivity.

after school I have: washed up, cooked tea, done three loads of washing, cleaned some stains off the work surface, cleaned the basin and bath to help reduce the chances of dd getting chicken pox as badly and dealt with a nose bleed. ds has been bathed finally.

Tuo · 10/07/2015 23:43

Hello. Feeling a bit clearer about the work thing, so thanks to anyone who prayed.

Praying tonight for Oma, for healing ('heel-ing' - haha... Does God frown on puns? I do hope not!) for her poorly foot. I'm so sorry about the holiday Oma - that must be so frustrating, especially when you can't do much else instead to cheer yourself up. I hope you're getting some help and that, when all else fails, you will feel the love coming in your direction from the people on this thread, who I know all care about you very much.

BES congratulations on the productivity; keeping prayers going for peace in your life and healing from the pox.

Momey - oh, that's a lot of things to worry about. Praying that your DD has had a good day and that she will get the place and the bursary and be really happy there; and praying for your SIL and her LO (do update us when there is news); and for your MIL and those caring for her.

And praying for Peter - you sound so desperate, dear Peter. I am thanking God that your friend was able to be there for you when you felt so very low, and I'm asking Him to be with you, and to make His comforting resence felt when things are tough.

I'm also thinking tonight of all those on this thread and the previous one who haven't posted for a while. I'm praying for all, but particularly for Anjelica who was so worried for her DS, and for innerstrength. Also praying for all, whether they have posted recently or not, with relationship problems, health problems, elderly/ill parents, and any other worries. Asking God to allow this to be a place where worries can be temporarily set down and handed over to Him.

Finally, praying for the people of Greece and of Tunisia, and for all affected by the events in both countries, and more generally for peace in the Middle East and beyond.

Here is a lovely prayer that I found on the SPCK website:

Dear Lord our God,
Help us to see Christ
In others,
Help us to receive Christ
From others,
Help us to share, Christ
With others,
Help us to be Christ
To others,
Help us to bring Christ
To others.
Help us to see that
In him we live and move
And have our being,
That we dwell in him,
And he dwells in us. Amen

lovely prayer.

hoping dd does not get the pox at an inconvenient time. we are supposed to be going away.

DontstepontheMomeRaths · 11/07/2015 02:12

Baby was born safe, well and at 8lbs 4.

Mil went into surgery late but things went as planned. One step at a time here. Not sure if she'll opt for chemo as it was so gruelling last time round.

Dd had a good day. I'll find out next Weds if they offer her a place. It's such a huge deal switching schools, I keep oscillating in how I feel. Afraid as logistically so much needs to fall into place still. Afraid she'll miss current school and friends once moved. Even though she's unhappy there often.
I've also realised I've spent a year pushing her with extra Maths and English and reading and violin lessons. Mainly to try and help her get into a good secondary school and to help her get away from problem children on the same ability table as her in class. All this pushing is a source of tension in our home. She's resenting all the extra work, we're arguing and yes she's come a long way in a year academically but if she changed school I'd no longer worry and the new school goes up to age 16! I admire home schoolers as I seem to annoy DD and handle it wrong. It's affecting our relationship tbh. Pushy mummy and perhaps I need to give it to God quite frankly. He can do all things. I need to let go of this. It's creating resentment.

SESthebrave · 11/07/2015 06:16

Oh goodness, I've not checked in for about a week and I've missed a lot. Prayers for all you lovely lot.

Oma - how frustrating (to put it politely) that the podiatrist has gone away and your insole is not ready. Prayers for you and the heel pain.

TUO - prayers for wisdom in your work issue.

Momey - praying for your MIL, SIL and new lo and for DD's school situation; that the decision on Wednesday will be the right one for her.

Peter - prayers for you, that you will start to see a way forwards and you will soon feel better and for best decisions.

99100 - you are welcome here, lingering on the outskirts.

PA - prayers for DD as she moves on and for you. As for forgiveness, it's not a tap you can just turn on. Give it time. I once had an ex-BF threaten me with a knife and found it incredibly hard to forgive him. In the end, my prayer was "help me to want to, want to forgive him" and over the years this has happened. Well done on your accountancy.

All ticking along here. Would appreciate prayers for my aunt who is having surgery on Tuesday to remove a cancerous lump from her breast. They will be testing her lymph nodes as well so really need the results to be clear.
Also the restructure at work is dragging on. I think I will know what's happening with my job in about 2 weeks.

BlackeyedSusan · 11/07/2015 11:04

nearly all the spots are crusted. just in time to be in the time frame when dd could come out in spots. (7-21 days) I shall be doing a big shop as soon as ds is clear. I will be the one in aldi or morrisons shouting weyhey like it is a fun park. she could technically come out in spots today.

PositiveAttitude · 11/07/2015 18:35

DO prayers for you. Sorry to hear that your holiday has had to be cancelled. I do hope you get the proper insoles to help soon. Thanks

COngratulations to auntie Momey Smile

Prayers for those needing peace in difficult personal relationships and also for those in difficult work situations.

Tomorrow afternoon I am officially on holiday. I am heading off for a week alone in the New Forest (conference to attend on Monday, but as soon as that is over the rest of the week is entirely mine!) I am so in need of it and really looking forward to it.

amberlight · 11/07/2015 19:52

Praying for all as I'm reading through.

Tuo · 11/07/2015 22:42

Thanking God tonight for the safe arrival of Momey's SIL's baby and for some 'me-time' for PA, who really deserves it.

Praying for SES's work situation and for her aunt; praying for BES and poxy DS and not-yet-poxy DD; praying for Momey's DD - for the best outcome regarding her education and for harmony rather than resentment to be restored; praying for Oma's foot; and for Peter's health.

Also thinking of Ninetynine, Edith, FLaH, amber, Soozi, QoF and all regular or occasional visitors to the thread, whether or not they post.

The light of God surrounds us;
The love of God enfolds us;
The power of God protects us;
The presence of God watches over us;
Wherever we are, God is. Amen

Thank you for the first time in 6 months my face sensations are less. My prayers for all on here. Bladder not great but praying for hope

Dutchoma · 11/07/2015 23:06

Keep reminding us of your needs PeterSpots. So thankful that you can see some improvement.
I want to add Anjelica to our prayers tonight again, for peace, for hope, for love.
My foot is not a lot better but I managed to get the shopping I needed and also went to a concert tonight. Male voice choir and a brass band, both local. Really good, I enjoyed that.

SheepAreSuper · 12/07/2015 00:46

Not a regular but I would be eternally grateful for your prayers tonight.

My lovely mum stopped breathing and went in to cardiac arrest suddenly today. She's currently on life support with no definitive prognosis.

Thank you
