Bright blessings to all!

Wiccan here. Just wondering if there are any more of us around. :) I don't have a coven, and there doesn't seem to be too much opportunity for it in Ireland, even in the medium sized cities.

DP is not a Wiccan. I'm a hospital doctor. We enjoy Dr. Who and Star Trek. I was raised Catholic.

I have had a lovely Beltane. Didn't get to celebrate quite as soon as I'd have liked, due to work, but it was beautiful.

My sick orchid is budding, my Book of Shadows is growing... Thinking about a nice walk in the woods tomorrow afternoon.

Would love to hear from others. :) I have so many questions.

Hi how is everyone?

It was the full moon last night, did anyone do anything interesting? I just did a simple wish spell. I'm slowly working my way through some of the books suggested up thread on my kindle.

spiderlight · 05/06/2015 19:39

I didn't realise. I'm so out of touch at the moment :( Work and a neverending lurgy are really dragging me down.

TheSilveryLune · 07/06/2015 17:41

Daisyl would a simple wish spell be a good place to start? I am dragging my heels a bit. I have been doing lots of reading though! Strikes me that meditation is a recommended starting point. I do find it very difficult though. I am sending good thoughts out to all on this beautiful day.

Daisystarlight · 08/06/2015 23:16

Hi
A simply candle spell is the second easiest magic spell. The first would be a chant as all you need is belief it will work and the intent to make it work. Simply a poem or rhyme that calls the gods/goddess or powers you need and then to state how you want that energy to be redirected. So if I needed good weather I would say

"Patches of blue in the sky my dear, patches of blue in the sky.
Let's gather them up and saw them together,
So right now I shall have good weather"

I would repeat this three times and see it happening in my minds eye and then I would release this energy and then it would be clear blue sky and warm. But for one good day expect three rainy days as the spell/rule is it will return to balance things out. I only do a spell if its really needed otherwise what is the point? You can be a wiccan without doing spells. If you have a problem or need an extra help in someway a spell is useful such as healing a loved one but don't just do a spell go over and help, offer to cook a meal or clean its as much of being a witch as any spell would make you. if you go and clean mop the floor east to west and open a window to sweep the negative energy out of the house to promote healing that way you help the person and you are performing a spell.

Its a different perspective on how we see the world and how its all connected and works in harmony together and how we as humans can cause small positive changes. I would do lots of reading and a lot more listening to your inner thoughts and when the time is right you will find the spell that you need and it will work and you will get a buzz of it like now other. Its a great feeling to do something small that will have a big positive outcome and knowing you helped do something good is always a great feeling.

I would say the more you meditation the more open you will become and the more you will see the world around you and how its all conected. Each path is different and you just need to trust that you will find your way if you keep looking xx

Hope the lurgy is gone now, Spider.

Thanks guys! Finally better now! Grin

Lovely thread Halloween Smile sorry for the delay in getting here, misfiring besom problems.

Upthread, someone asked about giving a partner who was working away a connection to home, don't underestimate a pebble or two from your own garden, they don't look as pretty as a specific crystal, but they are just as easily programmed and they already hold a sense of place.

Silvery you introduced yourself as a Crone, well spotted, we mature ladies (who precede the new agey take on Paganism) have already gone through the first two aspects of the Triple Goddess - Maiden, Mother and we're transitioning to becoming wise women, whose traditional name is Crone.

I enjoyed the discussion on how spells work, it's aligning Will and Intention, all the rest is to quote a dear friend, "foreplay" which when you know what you're doing, although extremely enjoyable, isn't actually necessary for success Halloween Grin

My gematria's a bit out, I was hoping to be page 13 post 313, but I'm too impatient to wait.

Ancient sites, don't know if anyone's familiar with this resource, megalithic.co.uk which is more archaeological than spiritual. If anyone's interested in dowsing said ancient sites, the Hedgedruid blog has some interesting findings.

Time to go and feed my feral black cats, looking forward to more threads like this, hopefully I'll arrive in time for the next one,

BB to all Halloween Smile

Happy Summer solstice xx

AmandaWilkton · 22/06/2015 13:11

The summer solstice was yesterday and it was a great but early sundown at stonehenge

ponybark · 23/06/2015 23:05

hello all you wiccans! Just stumbled upon thread, looks really interesting although sadly don't have enough time to read through right now. Will have a proper look tomorrow.

i know i've not been on this thread before but i have to go through something quite scary tomorrow and am petrified (can't go into details) so any good vibes you can send me through the airwaves would be most welcome (if you have a quick moment). I hope it's not cheeky to ask. I will send you good vibes back. :)

I did find a massive patch of four and five leaf clovers today so I have taken that as a good sign about tomorrow. And a separate couple of four leaf clovers elsewhere. I am thinking of eating one (!) - strange I know, but I thought it might help with my issue. The others are being saved, pressed and used for other good luck stuff.

i'm a big fan of magicky stuff and do quite a lot of folk magic myself, feng shui, the odd ceremony / spell, although I know little about wicca. The more I do this stuff the more it seems to work! Very open minded and getting more open minded all the time.

DoctorShoe · 24/06/2015 07:52

Hello all, and brightest blessings. Smile

Haven't been well, so haven't been on. Pretty please send me some nice vibes?

Well, I have crystals and they seem to be doing something. Even if it's just a placebo effect I'm happy. I have just seen 3times3 answer to my question of DP working away and will definitely try that when the time comes. It seems so obvious I'm surprised I didn't think of it myself. Many thanks!

I've also ordered one of the books suggested above - I really am keen to learn more about Wicca and its links with the natural world.

I have a rather strange question for you - I'm after some help again. Years ago I was told about a way of protecting oneself by imagining an orb around you. I have tried it a few times and it seems to work, it gives me something to hide behind.

What I'm after now is almost the opposite, something like a neon light that illuminates me for who I am. A visible boost of self-confidence. I suspect I'm barking up the wrong tree, but is there anything any of you can suggest?

(There is, naturally, a long story behind this which I could discuss til the cows come home on Relationships. I've had counselling around related matters, which helped to some extent, but it was a realisation last night about the friend who taught my the orb trick that made me come here.)

VelvetGreen · 13/07/2015 21:49

I'm not sure if this is what you are after Rabbits, but in yoga philosophy the solar plexus chakra (manipura) is the seat of our self esteem. It is usually associated with the colour yellow.

One way to boost it is to surround yourself with lots of physical yellow things, or you could try a meditation focusing on manipura - it usually involves visualising moving a light down from the crown to the sacral chakra and back again, or you can visualise the light growing from your navel until it surrounds you. Positive reinforcement through mantra is something else to try. Some info here if you're interested.

RabbitsarenotHares · 21/07/2015 10:50

VelvetGreen - thank you so much for that. That is exactly the sort of thing I was after. And I've realised how little yellow I do have around me, both at home and at the office. I've always gone for purples, blues and reds.

I will definitely practice the visualisation, and the mantras as I can see them both doing me a whole lot of good.

Many, many thanks. x

GreenGoth89 · 29/07/2015 00:00

Brought up pagan, been on and off practicing for years, but heading back towards practicing (trying to find ways to include my DP and DSS although I know his mother (who is wiccanish herself) would probably dislike the idea as she was raised catholic and seems to think all children should be...odd ideas!

I have no desires so go and find a coven or anything, I find some are great but many will disagree with the way I see/experience deities.

fourtothedozen · 29/07/2015 07:38

Lovely little spell daisystarlight- but I am not sure why you say this But for one good day expect three rainy days as the spell/rule is it will return to balance things out.

Why should that be? It sounds a very christian/black and white way of looking at things.

I have been spellcasting for over 30 years and I have never found any spell "return" to "balance things out".
Why should that happen?
I do believe in karma, in that sending out negative energies may end up rebounding, but for those spells which do no harm- like a sunny day- why do you think we should pay?

Many of my spells are concerned with helping others, recently my OH had to make a decision about a new job, and was really struggling to decide what to do, he was very anxious and was struggling to sleep.
I performed a ritual to give him clarity of thought and insight ( using my Tarot too) and within a day he was 100% confident about his decision.
THat was 3 months ago, he took the new job, and it has exceeded his expectations, he is very happy.

Should I now expect something bad to happen as a result?

SeaMagic · 01/09/2015 09:53

Good question fourtothedozen. I also wondered about that.

Otherwise loving this thread and overjoyed to find likeminded people on MN!

Particularly enjoyed reading about the Hawaiian mantra - I'm sorry, forgive me, thank you, I love you. I am currently having trouble with a difficult manager who I believe may have narcissistic tendencies so is very prickly and aggressive if she feels her position or self image is challenged in any way. I am really struggling working with her, she was incredibly rude and attacking towards me in a meeting recently and I was not sure how to tackle this... I am going to try the Hawaiian mantra [may also need to go down the official mediation route via HR as well but will see how things pan out].

Otherwise also inspiring to hear about other's sacred spaces, i.e. Wistman's Wood, thank you VelvetGreen. I now want to take a journey to Dartmoor and spend some time there!

Myself, I am particularly drawn to Sea Magic and have been since a child. I used to visit the ocean when young and recite my own mantras and spells to the Sea whom I called 'Mother'. This was from when I was quite young and had never read anything about goddess worship and was definitely not brought up in a family with Pagan or Wiccan belief.
I also used to bring the sea a small gift, i.e. a coin or a sweet and throw this into the water as an offering. I then felt 'allowed' to take a gift from the sea - a stone or shell usually. Again, I was never taught to do this by anyone, it was a ritual I had which I just 'knew' somehow.
I still always collect stones and shells from the seashore and place them on my altar at home, particularly hag stones. I have also always been drawn to crystals and use them in my amateur incantations.

At this time I am reading all I can on Sea Magic and Sea Witches - 'The Sea Priestess' by Dion Fortune, 'The Way of the Sea Priestess' by Louise Tarrier and 'Sea Magic' by Sandra Kynes.

Otherwise have books by Starhawk, Glennie Kindred and Scott Cunningham on my 'to buy' list as they keep being recommended on various wiccan/pagan websites and via word of mouth.

Finally I am in London and I wondered if anyone had any information regarding wiccan training or courses that I could attend? I know of Wicca Moon in Eltham and have attended a few of their courses which were helpful but I think the next stage would have been to commence the initiation into their coven and I'm not quite ready for that level of commitment yet [that is, if they'd even accept me!] Any information or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Would also be willing to travel for weekend workshops outside of London.

Thank you all for such an interesting and inspiring thread. I am thrilled to find you all on my favourite website!

loraflora · 01/09/2015 17:42

SeaMagic, I'm drawn to the ocean too. I miss living by the seaside sigh.

You wouldn't need to go out of London for courses. For short courses/talks/workshops Treadwells can be quite interesting at times and their talks tend to be well researched - they've had academics like Ronald Hutton speak there for example.

Vivianne Crowley runs courses in Wicca in London and she's got a long history with Wicca so it might be worth giving her a google and getting in touch. Otherwise have you tried joining the Pagan Federation? I think there are one or two Wicca meet-up groups running in different parts of London that they might know about. They'd be social meetings rather than courses as far as I know but you'd get the opportunity to meet people who were involved and vice versa.

Not Wiccan myself, but pagan and involved in druidry.

SeaMagic · 02/09/2015 07:02

Thank you loraflora.

I will definitely look up the Treadwells and Vivianne Crowley courses and let you know how I got on!

worldgonecrazy · 04/09/2015 14:10

If you contact Treadwells ask them for information about Pagan Pathfinders, that's one of the best training / entry points I can recommend if you're in London.

Blodss · 14/09/2015 23:01

What an inspiring thread. I enjoy wicca but tend to be more into Universal Power and Energy and Paganism.
Are any of you still posting?

TheSilveryLune · 04/10/2015 20:34

Is anyone still posting ?
The weather has been wonderful lately and I've been collecting blackberries and elderberries.
