Tuo · 31/01/2015 22:31

Welcome to our new prayer thread as winter turns (not quickly enough for some of us...) to spring 2015. This is a safe and supportive place of prayer, where regulars, occasional visitors and lurkers, committed Christians and those just dipping a toe into the water are all equally welcome. Come and leave a prayer, tell us what's going on in your life, bring your worries, hopes, fears and joys to God, and know that you will be prayed for.

We pray, in particular, for...

... ALittleFaith, especially for her dad, who has been diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease, praying that his medication continues to keep him as well as possible for as long as possible;

... amberlight, for her work raising awareness of the ways in which we can work to make life easier for our autistic friends, and for her to know love and acceptance wherever she goes;

... Anjelica27, as she tries to find ways to support her DS who has been self-harming;

... BlackEyedSusan, for all the many things which she has to juggle in her life as a single parent; in particular, for her DS to get adequate support so that he is less stressed at school; also for her DD and for her mum, and for Operation Flat Tidy;

... BlueTinkerbell, for a problem-free pregnancy with DC4 and a happy outcome;

... CaulkheadUpNorth, who is struggling with MH problems which are affecting her faith, and by extension her job in a church environment; prayer for her access the support she needs, inside and outside the workplace, and for her to find her way back to God, in her own time, if need be;

... ChocolateTeacake, for work and financial worries; and for her health;

... DontstepontheMomeRaths , for her busy life as a single mum, and for the wonderful work she does through her church supporting people going through separation and divorce;

... DutchOma, thanking God for the wonderful support that she provides for so many on here; praying for her relationship with her DD; and continuing to think of her in her life without her beloved Bob;

... FaithLoveandGrace, for her mental health as she undergoes painful, but hopefully helpful, counselling; for her relationship with her DSS; and for her work on her PhD;

... howtoapproachthis, for her health, following her diagnosis with CFS and for her to find support for herself and her DD;

... innerstrength100, for strength, hope and joy in her life as she rebuilds her life following the unexpected break-up of her relationship;

... Kaykat, continuing to pray for her as she goes through the stressful and painful process of divorce; praying, in particular, that she is able to find continue to support her DS through this process; and praying that her ex is able to see how damaging his current behaviour is for his DS so that, in this at least, he is able to change his ways;

... MadHairDay, for her ongoing health issues and for the strength to deal with them;

... MaryBS, in the discernment and selection process for ordination to the priesthood;

... ninetynineonehundred, for her relationship with her DH from whom she is separated but with whom she is still living , praying for healing, trust, love and forgivement for them both;

... Pipbin, following the loss of a desperately-wanted pregnancy, praying for strength, for hope, and for lots of support;

... PositiveAttitude, for her studies, her work situation, and her role within her church; for her and her DH as they consider where their engagement with their faith will take them next; for her mum, who has dementia and her dad who has finally accepted he needs help, but finds it hard to accept it; for her DD1, who has been depressed; and for the whole family;

... RoomForALittleOne, for her health in her new pregnancy;

... QuestionofFaith, thanking God that her DH has found a new job, and praying that this will be the turning-point that he needs to overcome his depression and for them to find ways to rebuild their lives;

... and me, Tuo, for my DD2 who has been self-harming, but seems much happier at the moment - please pray for that to continue.

We pray also for all regular and occasional visitors including: Badvoc, BlessedAssurance, CharlotteCollins, cloutiedumpling, DeladionInch, EilisCitron, Gingercurl, JugglingFromHereToThere, ktef, LollipopViolet, MrsPixieMoo, niminypiminy, PandaG, SEStheBrave, thegreenheartofmanyroundabouts, weegiemum, Zing and for anyone I've forgotten to name-check (don't take it personally, please!). We pray for our muslim sisters over in the tea-room, at a time when many feel afraid in a world which seems suspicious of their faith, praying for peace and understanding between all faiths. And we pray for those who read and pray but don't post, for those who need our prayers but are afraid or too uncertain to post them, and for all those known to us in our own lives who need God's love.

Keep Your people, Lord,
in the arms of Your embrace.
Shelter them under Your wings.
Be their light in darkness.
Be their hope in distress.
Be their calm in anxiety.
Be strength in their weakness.
Be their comfort in pain.
Be their song in the night. Amen

thankyou, a bit of mn helped me relax a bit and get to bed to sleep, even if a little late. Thanks to all who prayed. Quite frankly it was miraculaous to calm so quickly.

KayKat · 24/04/2015 08:16

It's the obsessive nature of him on the Internet and I have concerns about some of the people he's interacting with on there. I tried to limit his internet time so I could keep a close eye and he hurt himself. So I'm backed into a corner. Forced to let him do it and sick with worry over it. Don't know whether the take the risk of involving his dad, he may help he may make things worse.

ZipadiSoozi · 24/04/2015 11:42

Kay, how old is your ds? Just thought if he is young enough would parent control help, but sounds like he is older, can you put computer in living room or a room where you can pass by occasionally to monitor him? Sorry questions questions x

KayKat · 24/04/2015 11:48

Yes he's older. I monitor it and he doesn't mind that but if I'm out or asleep I turned it off but he hurt himself and said it was because he was bored. Only minor, more of a bad habit that he's had for years rather than self harm but still very upsetting.

ZipadiSoozi · 24/04/2015 12:04

If he is of age its a hard one, my ds is 19 and I constantly annoy chat to him, taking my chances whether it's welcome advice or not, is your ds worried about anything, maybe it's a cry for help to get your attention, even though he maybe confused about how to get it or what he wants, teenagers seem to have so many pressures these days. Flowers

KayKat · 24/04/2015 12:11

Yes he has lots of worries, absent father, exams, what to do next year. He has a lot of my attention doesn't normally want it but has talked quite a lot the past few days.

ZipadiSoozi · 24/04/2015 12:46

Is he doing gcse's or A levels or at college?

ZipadiSoozi · 24/04/2015 12:53

Kay, so pleased ds is communicating with you, at least he is off loading rather than bottling it all up, doesn't make things better but does give you an idea what angle to approach from next, hope you get family support, my thoughts and prayers for you both, not easy x

BlackeyedSusan · 24/04/2015 14:20

please pray. Mum has been scammed is liable to loose thousands.

BsshBosh · 24/04/2015 16:05

Praying for you all and your families.

amber hope all is okay?

WobblyRainbow · 24/04/2015 17:13

BES, Amber, Kay, praying for you all. BES, can the bank help? Kay, it's so difficult isn't it? BES, I'm glad you got some sleep.

BlackeyedSusan · 24/04/2015 17:32

I think it is ok. I need to ring my cousin to confirm details.

need to do major sucking up to mums neighbour.

amberlight · 25/04/2015 07:14

I think all is OK for me. New specialist who was very brisk... and frightened the wotsits out of me by asking me to monitor something. Luckily, my lovely breast care nurse explained afterwards that he wasn't worried at all about that thing. But I ended up not really talking to him about another thing that has worried me... because my communication had shut down. We were supposed to have half an hour but it was less than ten minutes. So now I need to ask to see someone again to reassure myself. I hate my brain doing that. DS could do with more prayers as he has reached a major decision about his life, and is very nervous about the big change it will mean.
Keeping you all in prayers.

SESthebrave · 25/04/2015 07:36

Amber - thanking God for your lovely breast care nurse and asking for wisdom in discernment for your DS.

Thank you all for your prayers for my meeting yesterday Flowers
All went as well as it could in the circumstances. Not ideal but ok. He set a face to face review meeting for 14th May and I asked for regular communication within that time (there'd been none for 3 weeks) so we'll see...
I was really anxious yesterday morning so thought it best to explain my mood to 5yo DS. I just said I had a meeting with my boss that I thought was going to be difficult. Bless him, DS said a little prayer for me asking God to help me be brave. I know it helped.

Off to work again this morning and then family time. Happy Sarurday to you all.

ScarletDancer · 25/04/2015 08:44

SES that's lovely of your DS.
Amber, the nurse sounds lovely.
I'm off to do some work that I've been asked to do this morning, it's voluntary and I'm not in the mood but c'est la vie.

ZipadiSoozi · 25/04/2015 09:01

Amber so pleased you have an understanding nurse, very confusing with the consultant though, hope you get your answers, can you write him a letter to take with you so things don't get mixed up. Prayers for you and your ds.

ses glad you sound more positive about your situation, hope things continue to improve, fingers crossed he keeps his word about the meetings.

Dad still in hospital, still doing tests, I have organised local vicar to visit and he is going to add Dad to the prayer list, dad is pleased, he is desperate to get home, said it's creepy in hospital, Mum frightened whether he hallucinates again, apparently they have put him back on Lorazepam. Anyway alls calm on the western front at the moment, thank you for your prayers.

ScarletDancer · 25/04/2015 09:04

Continuing to pray Soozi

BlackeyedSusan · 25/04/2015 09:58

SESthebrave · 25/04/2015 14:30

Please can I request prayers for my MIL who is currently in emergency surgery for a suspected ruptured stomach ulcer. It's not easy for DH as his family are all so far away (in Ireland).

ScarletDancer · 25/04/2015 14:41

Praying.

madhairday · 25/04/2015 15:22

Praying now, SES, for your MIL. Thanking God your work meeting went OK, praying that things will improve for you.

Praying BES for your mum, for you and your dd with the dla letter too, know how horrible that is and how it hits home :(

Dizzy, dear one, do share with us here if it helps you. Flowers

Thanking God for Amber's visit and praying for Soozi's dad.

Love to you all

SESthebrave · 25/04/2015 16:24

Thank you for your prayers. She is out of surgery and recovering, thankfully without the need for ICU.

ZipadiSoozi · 25/04/2015 17:58

SES, prayers your Mum recovers well, must have been a shock x

BsshBosh · 25/04/2015 18:44

Praying for you all, also to the earthquake victims in Nepal...

Praying for my remarkable DH that God gives him the energy to cope with everything he does in the home when I'm too poorly, despite him working full time at a long-hours job. He is simply amazing and I am blessed but I don't want him to burn out.

BlackeyedSusan · 25/04/2015 19:42

I think I have sorted the problem with the phone. I have at least got acess to her phone account now. that too hours to talk her through and several phone calls from my end to work out which sequence of numbers she needed to press to get through the automated caller system.
