A Christian prayer thread for Autumn/Winter

Welcome to our new prayer thread for autumn/winter. This is a safe and supportive place of prayer, where regulars, occasional visitors and lurkers, committed Christians and those just dipping a toe into the water are all equally welcome. Come and leave a prayer, tell us what's going on in your life, bring your worries, hopes, fears and joys to God, and know that you will be prayed for.

We pray, in particular, for...

... amberlight, for her work raising awareness of the ways in which we can work to make life easier for our autistic friends, and for her to know love and acceptance wherever she goes; also thanking God for her recent 'all-clear' at her annual cancer check-up;

... BlackEyedSusan, for all the many things which she has to juggle in her life as a single parent; in particular, for her DS to get adequate support so that he is less stressed at school; also for her DD and for her mum, and for BES to find the RL support that she needs;

... BlessedAssurance, for life with her two LOs, and for her family who are far away;

... DontstepontheMomeRaths, for her life as a single mum, for God to provide if her XH is successful in training for a new role, and for the wonderful work she does through her church supporting people going through separation and divorce;

... DutchOma, as she continues to miss Bob; thanking God for the wonderful support that she provides for so many on here; and praying for her relationship with her DD, in particular;

... Gingercurl, for her work situation; and for the relationship between her brother and sister to improve;

... howtoapproachthis for physical and emotional healing; and for a good bond between her and her DD;

... Kaykat, continuing to pray for her as she goes through the stressful and painful process of divorce; praying, in particular, that she is able to find good ways of supporting her DS, and for him to find renewed happiness in the coming weeks;

... MadHairDay, for her health; for peace of mind about the choice of secondary school for her DS; and for her DD to find friendship and acceptance;

... MrsPixieMoo, thanking God for her baby DD; and praying for a new home where the family can be really happy;

... Pipbin, for her IVF treatment - for her to find support and a positive way forward, whatever the outcome;

... PositiveAttitude, for her new studies and her work as a Deacon in her church; for her mum, who has dementia; and for her DD1 to find one or more special friends;

... PurplePidjin, for a more peaceful life;

... QuestionofFaith, for her and for her DH - for his depression to lift and for them to find ways to rebuild their lives;

... and for a poster we won't name but whose situation is known to God, praying that she is safe and supported.

We pray also for all regular and occasional visitors including: ALittleFaith, Badvoc, BlueTinkerbell, CharlotteCollins, cloutiedumpling, JugglingFromHereToThere, ktef, MaryBS, niminypiminy, PandaG, RoomForALittleOne, SEStheBrave, thegreenheartofmanyroundabouts, tunnocksteacake, weegiemum, and for anyone I've forgotten to name-check (don't take it personally, please!). And we pray for those who read and pray but don't post, for those who need our prayers but are afraid or too uncertain to post them, and for all those known to us in our own lives who need God's love.

Keep Your people, Lord,
in the arms of Your embrace.
Shelter them under Your wings.
Be their light in darkness.
Be their hope in distress.
Be their calm in anxiety.
Be strength in their weakness.
Be their comfort in pain.
Be their song in the night. Amen

he did not get much time to play but we have booked a holiday. Smile

next job is to ask mum to pay the amount she agreed.

FaithLoveandGrace · 12/01/2015 07:59

Morning all. I've a seemingly random question: I've been reading the 50 book challenge thread and many people have mentioned the goodreads app / site. A few have exchanged usernames but since I signed up through Facebook, I don't feel comfortable adding people I've never "spoken" to. I was wondering if any of you lovely lot have goodreads? It'd be great to see what others are reading and get some more recommendations on what to read :)

I should probably get off the net and get to work now.

At the start of the working week I pray that the blessing of the Lord God Almighty be upon you all and upon those whom you love. I pray for those who are struggling in mind, body or spirit. May we uplift them to you this day Lord so that you may comfort and heal them. Lord be with us and guide us in our conversations and all that we have to do. In your name Lord, Amen.

keep praying for operation flat tidy. I have just done a stint in the bathroom. more needs doing of course but we are getting there.

BlackeyedSusan · 12/01/2015 15:57

right, washing up done/surfaces cleaned ready for the onslaught of tea making. )one hour on kitchen stuff)

desperately need to do more tidying and find ds's diagnosis letter.

off to get the children from school and take them to the library. I have a qquick tea planned so may could get my new storge box for the children's lego washed and dried* and filled some more sorting done later

*everything from b and q is terribly dusty and needs cleaning before it is used for toys.

QofF · 13/01/2015 08:01

BES I need to follow your lead and sort out my house. everything seems to be shoved in full to bursting cupboards and wardrobes. Hope all you lovelies are well. Praying for you all.

BlackeyedSusan · 13/01/2015 10:08

would not mind if it was in cupboards... it is scattered all over the floor.

Dutchoma · 13/01/2015 11:04

Lego? colouring pencils? knickers?

FaithLoveandGrace · 13/01/2015 11:10

Just burst out laughing at your comment Oma. I certainly hope it's Lego / colouring pencils rather than knickers BES :)

BlackeyedSusan · 13/01/2015 11:28

lego, colouring pencils, knickers, recycling, trash, (usually from the bag of rubbish I have collected but got rampaged over and scattered... ) old receipts.. (ds knocked them off last night and scattered them... so got to now find them and sort them instead of just sorting them.... washing... the children scatter it to the four winds... nearly anything you could name is on the floor. .

anyway,

operation flat tidy:
three carrier bags of charity donations outside the front door.
books boxed up and waiting to go to the loft.
bits and bobs picked up and dealt with.
more recycling gathered and put in the bag ready to go down.

Dutchoma · 13/01/2015 11:31

One of these days BES you will win.

BlackeyedSusan · 13/01/2015 12:01

keep praying oma. keep praying. the only way to win is get rid of stuff or sort out storage. of course it would help if ex would take his stuff. I am working on that at the moment. he wanted a lead so I may be able to give him the whole box to take home and sort...

Dutchoma · 13/01/2015 13:25

Any chance of packing it all up and taking it to his car for him next time he comes? Be pro-active?

BlackeyedSusan · 13/01/2015 13:47

giving him a bit at a time seems to go unnoticed DO. He absolutely refuses to take all of it at once as he has no space.... (this is where several swearwords need to be inserted and ranting about well you let your children have no space either)

anyway, I have stopped for lunch and possibly a nap so I can keep my temper tonight. there is no football training (yay) so it is home and get the children sorted. aiming for a quick tea tonight.

I am using my breaks to look at the computer... getting motivated and following different cleaning routines. I am better doing a bit here and there, as one site put it, if your home is level ten filth, aim to reduce to level nine...

improvements have been made over the last month. more needs to be done but it is improving.

FaithLoveandGrace · 13/01/2015 13:55

Blimey BES I've only read little bits about your ex and obviously don't know the full story, but he sounds like a right muppet - though that's me being polite and I think much worse would be more appropriate! If he keeps up (and it sounds like you've given him ample chance!) could you take it to the charity shop? Would be a pain to sort out and not fair that you have to really but it'd at least be out of your way.

Like the idea of reducing the filth level - think perhaps DP and I should apply that to our flat!

Dutchoma · 13/01/2015 14:28

'Right muppet' is about the level of it, isn't it? You are doing well, you have deserved your nap.

BlackeyedSusan · 13/01/2015 14:57

nap complete. it helps keep the place tidy as I am then less stressy with ds and he is therefor less rampaging..

Pipbin · 13/01/2015 22:06

Ladies, not sure if you remember me but some of you had me in your thoughts when I was going through my IVF.
Well it resulted in a bfp.

Today am 12+4 and have started bleeding. I'm being seen by the at 10.20 at the EPU tomorrow.

I'd be most grateful if you could think of me again.

FaithLoveandGrace · 13/01/2015 22:29

Praying for you pipbin and keeping everything crossed for tomorrow's appointment.

Dutchoma · 13/01/2015 22:54

Praying Pipbin, will go on praying tomorrow.

Tuo · 14/01/2015 00:16

Hello all. Sorry I haven't been around much - been feeling a bit hassled. Nothing specific is 'wrong', just a lot going on and a lot to think about...

Prayers for your for tomorrow Pipbin - strangely enough I was thinking about you earlier today and wondering how you were getting on.

Praying for all those working to bring tidyness and order to their living environments. I can sympathise with that: we are hoping to put our house on the market soon, but first we need to clear out all the junk and make it look reasonable.

Praying for PA and the situation with her parents: that sounds so hard.

Praying for MHD's health. And also for howto's.

Praying for FaithLoveandGrace - how are you feeling now? It's good that you have got a replacement counselling appointment through quickly. Hoping you can stay positive through to the weekend.

Also praying for innerstrength - hoping that you're OK and are getting support.

And also for you, chocolateteacake - how are you feeling now?

And adding prayers for ALittleFaith's dad... good that he's feeling positive - long may it continue.

Praying for our lovely Oma.

And praying for three friends, two of whom have health worries and one of whom has work-related uncertainty to deal with.

And finally praying for peace in the world and for understanding between those of different faiths and of none.

God of Hope,
we come to you in shock and grief and confusion of heart.
Help us to find peace in the knowledge
of your loving mercy to all your children,
and give us light to guide us out of our darkness
into the assurance of your love,
In Jesus Christ our Lord.
Amen

Delurking to say I am praying for you pipbin, and all of you.

QofF · 14/01/2015 06:16

Praying for you Pipbin

Pipbin · 14/01/2015 07:20

Thank you so much. I need all the strength I have to get through this. It's taken 4 years to get this far and it won't happen again.

ALittleFaith · 14/01/2015 08:50

Pipbin I remember you from the conception boards, think we started to TTC about the same time. I had bleeding around the same time with Faithlet and all was well. Praying Thanks
