A Christian prayer thread for Autumn/Winter

Welcome to our new prayer thread for autumn/winter. This is a safe and supportive place of prayer, where regulars, occasional visitors and lurkers, committed Christians and those just dipping a toe into the water are all equally welcome. Come and leave a prayer, tell us what's going on in your life, bring your worries, hopes, fears and joys to God, and know that you will be prayed for.

We pray, in particular, for...

... amberlight, for her work raising awareness of the ways in which we can work to make life easier for our autistic friends, and for her to know love and acceptance wherever she goes; also thanking God for her recent 'all-clear' at her annual cancer check-up;

... BlackEyedSusan, for all the many things which she has to juggle in her life as a single parent; in particular, for her DS to get adequate support so that he is less stressed at school; also for her DD and for her mum, and for BES to find the RL support that she needs;

... BlessedAssurance, for life with her two LOs, and for her family who are far away;

... DontstepontheMomeRaths, for her life as a single mum, for God to provide if her XH is successful in training for a new role, and for the wonderful work she does through her church supporting people going through separation and divorce;

... DutchOma, as she continues to miss Bob; thanking God for the wonderful support that she provides for so many on here; and praying for her relationship with her DD, in particular;

... Gingercurl, for her work situation; and for the relationship between her brother and sister to improve;

... howtoapproachthis for physical and emotional healing; and for a good bond between her and her DD;

... Kaykat, continuing to pray for her as she goes through the stressful and painful process of divorce; praying, in particular, that she is able to find good ways of supporting her DS, and for him to find renewed happiness in the coming weeks;

... MadHairDay, for her health; for peace of mind about the choice of secondary school for her DS; and for her DD to find friendship and acceptance;

... MrsPixieMoo, thanking God for her baby DD; and praying for a new home where the family can be really happy;

... Pipbin, for her IVF treatment - for her to find support and a positive way forward, whatever the outcome;

... PositiveAttitude, for her new studies and her work as a Deacon in her church; for her mum, who has dementia; and for her DD1 to find one or more special friends;

... PurplePidjin, for a more peaceful life;

... QuestionofFaith, for her and for her DH - for his depression to lift and for them to find ways to rebuild their lives;

... and for a poster we won't name but whose situation is known to God, praying that she is safe and supported.

We pray also for all regular and occasional visitors including: ALittleFaith, Badvoc, BlueTinkerbell, CharlotteCollins, cloutiedumpling, JugglingFromHereToThere, ktef, MaryBS, niminypiminy, PandaG, RoomForALittleOne, SEStheBrave, thegreenheartofmanyroundabouts, tunnocksteacake, weegiemum, and for anyone I've forgotten to name-check (don't take it personally, please!). And we pray for those who read and pray but don't post, for those who need our prayers but are afraid or too uncertain to post them, and for all those known to us in our own lives who need God's love.

Keep Your people, Lord,
in the arms of Your embrace.
Shelter them under Your wings.
Be their light in darkness.
Be their hope in distress.
Be their calm in anxiety.
Be strength in their weakness.
Be their comfort in pain.
Be their song in the night. Amen

Prayers for you, innerstrength today.

Thankyou all for your prayers. You're an incredible group. Off to do this visit in a bit...

And thanks for the prayers of anti-hospital for me!! I remember how last year you prayed so faithfully for me. I really, really can't thank you all enough for your loveliness.

BlackeyedSusan · 29/11/2014 14:20

the stairs are still a mess... they are just an inch deep in mess on three stairs instead of six inches deep on three stairs. . the virtual cake and real coffee have helped. been praying for mhd whilst bent double picking stuff up and wiping/recycling sticking in a carrier bag to sort out at mums later. stopping for lunch and home made hummus on toast... (sneaky way to get various seeds and veggies etc into ds) oh and I can not afford to buy the vast quantities we eat of it! Blush

I am having another regrouping session before tackling some more. ex is on his way but has yet to arrive. he was helping his sister find some tools so she can renovate her house so was still at his dads till 12.

BlackeyedSusan · 29/11/2014 14:36

ex is currently on clonking his way down the stairs with three carrier bags of recycling, two of rubbish and one binbag full of rubbish.

Dutchoma · 29/11/2014 15:42

Let's hope he knows what's what and does not come home with any of it.

QofF · 29/11/2014 17:10

Hope it went ok Mad, been praying

BlackeyedSusan · 30/11/2014 09:23

arse. the fucking hotpoint fridge freezer has broken again. this is the replacement that they sent because the new one I bought previously broke.

Dutchoma · 30/11/2014 09:37

That warrants a whole amount of swearing. How can they do that? Of course it would happen in the weekend. Really, really shocking.

BlackeyedSusan · 30/11/2014 10:20

broken out the many ice blocks that I hsave from last time. most of the stuff in the fridge is plant based so not much risk of horrendous food poisining. I just have the joy of eating our way through a freezer full of food.

Dutchoma · 30/11/2014 12:24

I just hope they replace it pronto and do not mess you about this time.

BlackeyedSusan · 30/11/2014 13:15

you know the saying bad things come in threes...

ex has dropped his phone and cracked the screen
the cooker is still awaiting us to be organised enough to choose a new one. (v slow oven as the fan broke and only one of the back rigs working. at a push I could use the front but don't for safety)
and the fridge freezer. thankfully the freezer bit is working... far to wel as that is what bungs up the air inlet to the fridge.

Dutchoma · 30/11/2014 14:01

Let's hope good things come in threes too and very speedily.

well if good things include going batshit crazy...

no not that sort of bat shit crazy (yet), bat shit bat shit, possibly mouse or rat... in the loft, fresh in the last month. I feel like moving and nailing the bloody door shut behind me.

BlackeyedSusan · 30/11/2014 19:23

so today, I have found ex has dropped his phone and will need to replace (less money to go round)

the fridge freezer has broken. (the replacement for the new fridge freezer that broke )

there is animal poo in the loft.

Dutchoma · 30/11/2014 20:04

Oh well done, Amicissma. I had his prayer diary for October, but not November and had not found the December one either. So thank you for that. If you Google FRRME (Foundation for Relief and Reconciliation in the Middle East) you can put yourself on the mailing list and have prayer material almost every day. You can also follow him on FB, but not be his friend as I think there are too many of them.
BES nobody would blame you for going batshitcrazy, especially not as there is actual bat shit around.

QofF · 30/11/2014 20:15

Oh BES what a day! Well it is nearly over and tomorrow can only be better surely.
Thanks for that Amicissima.

BlackeyedSusan · 30/11/2014 22:52

I have had a mad urge to tidy up some of the landing just now. why at ten pm huh?

anyway, a little bit more has been achieved.

Tuo · 30/11/2014 23:48

Prayer for Advent: Day 1 - Maranatha: come Lord Jesus!

Oh dear, BES... You are not having a lot of luck with that fridge/freezer, are you? Praying for a swift solution and also for your decluttering efforts...

Continuing to pray for MHD - praying that the difficult meeting went well and that she is staying well and staying out of hospital this Christmas.

Praying that amber's ear infection clears up soon and that she and Oma are able to meet up soon.

Continuing to pray for innerstrength and her DP, for clarity of communication and understanding.

Also keeping Kaykat and her DS and howto and her DD in our prayers.

A prayer for Advent Sunday:

God of Abraham and Sarah, you gave them faith to listen when you spoke, and strength to go where you sent them. Help us to make room in our lives to hear your loving call and be ready to respond. Amen

Could it be squirrels BES?

BlackeyedSusan · 01/12/2014 09:51

looks like bat poo. we had bats around in the summer and one pooed on the window....

innerstrength100 · 01/12/2014 18:46

Tough tough day here. Still no communications forthcoming whatsoever as regards my horrible situation. This is making me ill now, both mentally and physically, and I am starting to realise that I may need to reach some kind of acceptance that I cannot keep throwing love and energy at a vacuum; it really is making me ill now. I do not want to accept my current situation though, I just want it do be different. And I have no understanding AT ALL as to what is happening, or what God wants me to do. Very sad.

BlackeyedSusan · 01/12/2014 19:31

that sounds like a good idea. it takes a while to work through stages of upset. working towards acceptance, grieving for what might have been all steps along the way to feeling better. not that it feels like it at the time when it hurts so badly.

I have redone the bit of landing I did last week and have done a little bit extra as well. gradually working through the old receipt pile. and bags of odds and ends and other such things. I needed to work near the bathroom anyway as ds was having a play in the bath.

Dutchoma · 01/12/2014 19:55

What is happening about the fridge/freezer BES?

BlackeyedSusan · 01/12/2014 20:44

it has kicked back in again. going to ring as soon as I have time. got ice blocks on standby and eating the contents of the freezer plan in place. going to take some stuff to my mums at the weekend. trying to persuade her to eat some of the boxes of dinners I have prepared her to make space. I will cook again for her as soon as the freezer is sorted.

Tuo · 01/12/2014 23:06

Prayer for Advent: Day 2 - Maranatha: come Lord Jesus!

Praying today for the continued functioning of BES's fridge, and for whatever has visited her loft to take its poop permanently elsewhere.

Also continuing to pray for innerstrength. I pray that God gives you wisdom to see a way forward, courage to walk that way no matter how difficult, faith to trust in him as you go, and peace of mind that, even if it may not be the path you would have chosen, you have done what is right. And may there be joy for you at the end of that path, even if it's so far off that you don't see it right now.

I bought some silly Santa earrings today for forthcoming Christmas concerts, and they reminded me of my friend H, who died earlier this year, who was known for her daft earrings for every occasion. I wanted, then, to pray for her family and friends, and for all those who have lost loved-ones in the last year or so, as they approach this season. Thinking in particular of our dear Oma, of course, but also of Badvoc, ALittleFaith, Juggling, PandaG, and - with apologies - anyone I've forgotten.

Finally keeping healthy Advent prayers going for MHD.

One of today's short Bible readings from the Northumbria Community seems particularly appropriate for Advent, so I shall post it as today's prayer:

My heart says of you, “Seek his face!” Your face, LORD, I will seek. (Psalm 27:8)
