I'm a regular, just name changed for anonimity purposes.
Well, as the name says really. I've been a catholic for years, married in the church, kids baptised and at faith school, teach sunday school, blah blah. But I don't believe anymore. ANd I hate a lot of what the CHurch stands for. Not the congregation - my friends do a lot of good work around justice and peace and ccaring for the community.
But I feel there is nothing - no god, no spiritual life. In a really good, really freeing way.
How do I tell my 2 good pals? What do I do about school? the dses love their school and I don't want them to go through the upheaval of moing schools when they are so settled and happy.

DMIL always assured me that most people at a CofE service only believed some of it even on a good day. She said habit and social reasons got far more people there than faith. Despite her own very firm faith this didn't seem to bother her.

DFIL had a licence to serve communion, but only said bits of the creed.

The vicar who married me and blessed my new born DD knew I didn't believe a word of it.

DD1 sings in the church choir because she likes singing.

I go along sometimes because it's nice to see people.

DD2 comes to mess about with her mates.

Only DH believes in God and he's a big bag theory and evolution believing in scientist. So even he picks and chooses his faith. And goes to remember DMIL as much as anything I suspect.

The DDs CofE school is the only primary for miles (and the others are CofE too) so religion doesn't feature in people's choosing it.

I guess what I'm trying to say OP is don't worry, you'll probably find your not the only one.

I am loving the "big bag theory" Grin

chipmonkey · 27/08/2012 20:04

That big bag theory is a load of crap. You only end up carrying more stuff around with you.

headinhands · 27/08/2012 20:34

I think it takes more faith to believe in the big bag theory than the bible. Prayer, that's the best way to get your shopping home. People who use big bags are building their house on sand.
