Oh, and welcome MrsMcCave! Prayers for clarity and peace.

gingercurl · 16/05/2012 11:46

Has anyone heard anything from Sweetest? Wonder how she is doing.

DutchOma · 16/05/2012 12:27

Don't mind updating (know nothing more at the moment) but the thread is here

Sweetest is on Facebook and doing very well, I'll let her know you were asking.

SweetestThing · 16/05/2012 12:52

Hello! Sorry I haven't been around on this thread for a while - I sometimes (maybe irrationally) feel that I don't pray well enough to help anyone; does anyone else ever feel like that?

Thanks, DutchOma for pointing me back in the direction of this thread. Gingercurl, thanks for your interest - I am doing just fine. Dropped down to three monthly check-ups at the Marsden, which is good news. My face is improving, albeit very slowly, and I had my first Botox around my mouth, which has helped with the symmetry but has made sipping drinks more like it was when I first had the surgery! Swings and roundabouts, I guess.

I think I may have just killed my Henry vacuum cleaner. There was a blockage in the big bendy tube, so I rinsed it through with water but obviously didn't shake it enough to get all the water out and I fear there may be some water dangerously close to the motor. Electricity + water = bad combination, so I am leaving it to dry for a while and then will try it to see if it works - or should I just abandon it and get a new vacuum cleaner?

I've been following expat's story on Facebook. Brave wee girl.

blackeyedsusan · 16/05/2012 14:45

My son is still very accident prone and I'm taking a break from it again Envy

Sweetest I feel the same and that I don't pray well either. So you're in good company x

MaryBS · 16/05/2012 15:18

Check the fuse in the plug Sweetest, it may have blown.

madhairday · 16/05/2012 15:30

Sweetest, I'm not sure any of us are able to 'pray well enough' - that would mean perfection, and we all fall short. Welcome to the imperfects Grin I often feel like that though - like I don't pray enough...but sometimes enough is just reading the posts before God - naming each person, and sometimes enough is just reading them. Don't feel bad. It's great to have you on board. I've been enjoying your blog. :)

JugglingWithTangentialOranges · 16/05/2012 16:10

Praying those flutterings will get stronger blue - and more frequent to reassure you ! Perhaps I'm cheating a little as that's very likely to happen as your pregnancy progresses. End of sickness phase has to be good too ? Smile

mathanxiety · 16/05/2012 16:35

So happy to see that Expat's DD has found a donor and hoping and praying all will be well. I'm not on FB and was wondering how it was all going. Same for quite a few people whose stories here ring a bell. Am a bit out of the loop.

Will remember everyone here in my prayers, and wonder if my job situation could be added to the list..

Teaandcakeplease · 16/05/2012 17:38

The latest updates on fb say:

Yesterday: As expected, DD has taken a bad turn. The pain in her gut has become quite severe. The pain management team has been paged to help manage it
19 hrs ago: DD is now on a morphine pump and much more comfortable. The surgeons are reviewing her xrays and will be in to examine her later as the doctors belief she is developing tephalitis in her gut. She is also getting platelets.
5 hrs ago: Well, she's not in pain, but instead she's ITCHY as hell and, since there is only one lumen to use, the other is taken up by her TPN and morphine, and she is nil by mouth, her drugs have to be worked in round the clock. They'll get her Piriton in after her cyclosporin is flushed

Let's keep lifting her up in prayer.

M44 · 16/05/2012 19:34

Hello everyone. I'm back! Not been around for a very long time....will have a good read and get praying.
Have a newish job- that is just amazing and just thank the Lord for His goodness!

JugglingWithTangentialOranges · 16/05/2012 20:08

Hi M44 Smile

Glad you're enjoying your new job.
I've started a new job this week too. So far, so good ... second afternoon today.

Please keep praying I get to know all the staff and children this week and especially remember everyone's name. Also that I can get my head round all the practical stuff like which key for which cupboard which I find really tricky !
(DH to be more encouraging too would be good, though things settling there a little - thanks for your prayers)

And just that I really settle into it and that it might continue in September as has been encouragingly mentioned as a possibility, though initially is for just this term.

Now for something much more important .... can I encourage everyone to sign the petition to David Cameron as the G8 Summit approaches next week ?

There's a thread started by MNHQ at Save the Children's request entitled,

"300 children die of hunger every hour of every day"

Please sign and support by telling others if you can.

The hunger and starvation of young children in developing countries should be at the top of the agenda as the leaders of the world's richer, more developed countries meet next week.

Please pray for the children of the world, that none go to bed hungry Sad

DutchOma · 16/05/2012 20:48

TACP Whose update is this? I can't find anything on Facebook.

lostmywellies · 17/05/2012 06:25

Amen!

Up ridiculously early this morning after dh knocked into my knee in bed and enjoying praising God along with the dawn chorus!

I don't think I've mentioned that dh has the go-ahead from work to stay in the UK for one more year. Hooray! So we've made an offer on a house nearby, so that the dcs can stay in the same school. We have to move out of this rented accommodation in 3 months, though, so prayers for speed with all that needs to be done in the meantime would be appreciated! First problem is getting a mortgage, it seems - once it comes down to paperwork and proof of salaries and things, it all gets complicated, due to international living and allowances and stuff that my poor addled maternal-brain struggles to understand. Please pray that someone can understand our rather unstandard circumstances and see that we do have enough money for this house really, even if not neatly packaged in a P60!

Teaandcakeplease · 17/05/2012 06:55

DO - Yes it is about expat's DD. I thought we shouldn't mention her DD's name though. It was in response to mathanxiety message below.

DutchOma · 17/05/2012 07:06

I thought it was expat's daughter rather that Beatrice. It's just that I am in the support group and had seen nothing on Facebook. She still is very ill apparently so prayers continuing.

Tuo · 17/05/2012 07:22

Oh no! Didn't think re name, as there's also a thread that uses it... Will ask mn hq to delete. Sorry. Sad

Teaandcakeplease · 17/05/2012 07:30

I wouldn't worry then TUO Smile

I read Beatrice's thread fully yesterday. As I have been away from the prayer thread a lot in the last 6 months I had no idea about cupoftea's little girl Sad

Tuo · 17/05/2012 07:40

Have asked for it to go so will c&p the rest of what I wrote last night here... not least for my own benefit, so I keep it in mind.

"Well, I watched the sermon again, and what he said was (approximately) this: whenever we deliberately show love to someone else, we are experiencing the presence of God in our lives.

So tonight, I pray that all of us on this thread, and all those we pray for, experience God's presence in our lives, in our love for others and in the love we receive from them."

DutchOma · 17/05/2012 07:41

On the whole I think names of children are ok, so long as they are not giving away the parents' identity.

Both Beatrice and Ailidh have their own threads, so I think it is ok.

jan2011 · 17/05/2012 08:07

morning all - reading and praying for you all. about not feeling like your prayers are good enough to pray - i feel like this a lot of the time - i was comforted by madhairdays post about naming people before God - also feel that God responds to the desire that we have for people to be healed/free/doing better etc - Lord give us the desires of our hearts.

Tuo thank you for that lovely prayer about making that effort to love and for Gods presence in our lives and in those for whom we pray that is very encouraging may it be so.

im struggling with tiredness - just feels ages since ive had a decent sleep and its hard to keep going at times.

praying lostmywellies for everything to work out. thinking of u all - be nice if we could have a real live prayer meeting together!

Teaandcakeplease · 17/05/2012 09:54

I've volunteered to help do some admin and I've put it off and put it off, as it is time consuming Blush and now I think I've bitten off more than I can chew but I cannot find the focus/ concentration/ discipline to at least keep doing a bite size chunk everyday. It will be such a huge help to them when finished. It is a minor request but I'd really appreciate your prayers. I'm just about to attempt some more now, whilst DS is at Pre School. If I can somehow find the energy and focus...

blackeyedsusan · 17/05/2012 14:54

shattered. I need to go to bed early... but am rubbish at it. feeling a bit uneasy about dd's homework. it is open ended and we have extended her to almost her full ability and i am a bit perrplexed by the work she has produced. it has raised more questions for me and I am wondering whether we need to get her assessed officially and if we do whether it will be any use and worth the money.
