Spring into Summer - Christian Prayer Thread

It always amazes me to see the range of things we pray for: from praying for people with cancer at the one end of the range to praying for a lost telephone. With difficult mothers-in-law, marital difficulties and unfeeling fellow Christians all wrapped up in it somewhere.
And knowing with joyful certainty that God hears us all, that no request is too frivolous for Him and that He loves to hear our prayers.
So, I just want to pick out a few highlights to keep our prayers focussed:
We pray for Amberlight and Sweetestthing who are dealing with cancer. We commit the two of you to the care of our Lord and look forward to you sharing your progress with us. We are here for you, knowing how important praying friends are ? there is scientific evidence for this.

Then, there are a few of us struggling with health issues:- Madhairday and Gingercurl?s sister. I would also like to mention my dh, Bob, here. I so value your prayers because I find it very difficult to pray for myself and for him when the going gets tough.

BlackeyedSusan and Teaandcakeplease are both dealing with the break-up of their marriage and bringing up their children on their own. We pray for strength and also for the undivided support of the churches they belong to. Especially in BES? case we could wish for a bit more understanding.

With CazandBelle we rejoice over the latest scan and pray for peace of mind for the rest of the pregnancy. Do share your feelings with us Caz, if you are able.

PositiveAttitude brought two prayer requests concerning her dds. Dd2 was in a car crash a few weeks ago and really needed another car. Wonderfully, her boyfriend was able to come to her rescue. And dd3 lost her phone on a trip that was a miracle in itself after her recent illness. Here again, prayer was answered and a new phone supplied.

Dippy, we love you, thanks for prompting us to do a new summary. We grieve with you over the loss of friends, but rejoice over birthday parties and broody chickens.

Let?s pray.

blackeyedsusan · 25/05/2011 13:14

amber, praying that you won't worry too much about the sickness coming on...

hi syrup

PositiveAttitude · 25/05/2011 18:06

Thank God for a new washing machine that washes stuff without flooding my kitchen!!! Yay!! Grin Also for a lovely new mobile, although it is making me feel very materialistic. Blush

Prayers continuing for you Amber and also for Sweetest

Teaandcakeplease · 25/05/2011 19:05

One of the key pastors at my church has been unwell and on Monday was admitted to hospital. He had an endoscopy yesterday and the doctors have told him that they are 90% certain that he has stomach cancer. Biopsies taken during the endoscopy yesterday are being tested to confirm the diagnosis Sad Please please please pray for him and his family. He married me, has supported me through it all and the divorce and I'm shocked at the news right now.

MaryBS · 25/05/2011 20:14

Praying TACP.

I went to visit our retired priest yesterday. He is looking well, but he has cancer and it is only a matter of time for him - so prayers for him and his family also... he will be a great loss.

MrsCadwallader · 26/05/2011 05:58

Prayers for your pastor TACP and your priest Mary.

Good news about the washing machine, PA! (would it be wrong of me to pray for a kitchen where all the cupboard doors don't fall off?! Confused). Oh, and I had a new phone recently, too. It's a lovely new smart phone andI too felt very materialistic and quite ashamed of how much I LOVE it Blush but I hope it makes it better that the first thing I did was download the Bible app, as well as Julian of Norwich and Brother Lawrence via the Kindle app! I do love having the entire Bible on my phone - amazing!

Amber, I hope you are feeling ok today. Prayers that the sickness stays away.

PositiveAttitude · 26/05/2011 06:40

A Bible app for my phone????? Shock

Prayers that everyone feels God's touch in whatever way they need it today.

CazandBelle · 26/05/2011 07:15

Small prayer request here. Feel like I'm coming down with a cold or something (hoping not the dreaded tonsilitis again), and feeling very nausea sick because of the sniffles and sore throat. Don't know what cold remedies I'm allowed in pregnancy, going to visit pharmacy (and Dr tomorrow if I'm feeling worse). feeling really weepy and sorry for myself because I feel rubbish with cold bugs and rubbish with sickiness feelings this morning. Know a cold isn't a big deal and there are people here with far more important health concerns but could really do with God's help on this one to pull myself together and feel a bit better.

Thank you.

blackeyedsusan · 26/05/2011 07:27

caz, paracetamol is about it i am afraid... hope you feel better soon.

DD was off school poorly yesterday, seems better today, Photo day at school. she missed the one at nursery. i am poorly waiting for the paracetamol to kick in...

why are you lot up so early?

Sent an email to the bloke who did the talks at the weekend... pinching the first bit of the titles... "imagine"... not being excluded... because there are no notes available....

MaryBS · 26/05/2011 08:22

I have the bible on my kindle...

How are you BES? What did you say in your email?

Prayers CazandBelle, maybe you just need to rest and recover. Prayers for healing for you, and also a sense of God's presence to drive away those "blue" feelings.

LOL MrsC at your new phone :o. You can be a covert bible basher with it, sneaking up on people who don't know you've got a bible on your phone :o

How are you and Bob, DO?

Hope you're feeling OK Amber.

I'm finding it really hard to love people at my church at the moment. Its really getting me down, people say such hurtful things to each other (and to me sometimes) and its not always easy to just shrug it off. I know I don't have to like them, just love them, but neither is proving easy :(

Love to everyone else... (you lot are much easier to love :o)

DutchOma · 26/05/2011 09:02

We are making plans for Bob to go to his sister in Chard for a fortnight, I'm so glad she has offered. It will be quite an "expotition", travelling by coach to Bristol where Maggie will pick him up. It will mean that I will have a whole fortnight to just please myself. Not sure what I will do. Eurostar to see my brother in Eindhoven is an option but not for the whole fortnight.

Prayers for you Mary that your church will pull their socks up, maybe things will be easier after you have been away for a week.

Prayers that your church may be kinder to you BES, what is it with Christians sometimes? Kindness is the pivotal point of the fruits of the Spirit, it's not hard!!

Prayers for you Caz that you will soon be well again.

And for MrsC, cupboard doors that stay put is not an unreasonable request and adds to the variety of things we pray for Grin

You can get the bible on a Kindle?

How does it work though with looking up refs etc - thought you could only turn pages on a kindle?

Praying for you all. Sorry to be a whinger yet again, but it's looking at the moment like I'll be unable to go camping tomorrow, which is our main family holiday this year, due to the usual. I'm trying to talk myself round but keep remembering that crap lungs, damp weather and cold nights in tent are perhaps not best combo. dh is saying he will still take the dc. But I am so gutted. Prayers for a miracle would be good at this point! :( I know this seems petty too compared to other health concerns here but it just feels like one more thing on top of it all atm.

TACP, praying esp for your pastor, and Mary for your priest today :(

MaryBS · 26/05/2011 09:15

Depends on the version, the copy I bought for 69p allows you to click on a book of the bible and a chapter, or you can search or enter a bible reference.

Prayers for health and a quick recovery for you, MHD. Our God is a Great BIG God, and no prayer is too small...

PositiveAttitude · 26/05/2011 09:29

Washing machine has flooded my was room on its third use!!!! Angry Sad

MaryBS · 26/05/2011 09:53

Do you think there's a blockage in the outlet pipe, that takes the water away PA, rather than the washing machine?

blackeyedsusan · 26/05/2011 12:54

madhair, not petty aat all. living with a long term condition must be really tough, grinding you down bit by bit.

washing machines aand cupboard doors too...

what is wrong with the cupboaard doors? have the hinges come out of their holes?

amberlight · 26/05/2011 14:06

not feeling too bad thanks. Lots of prayers being said for everyone...

blackeyedsusan · 26/05/2011 14:55

got a reply.... they have only copied it into church... hmmm me thinks i will be finding another church soon....

madhairday · 26/05/2011 15:06

Thanks for praying, got a v quick answer!! Not healing, but old friends have offered the use of their cottage in the lake district for a week....my bro is actually there this weekend so we can spend it with him then stay the week...can't quite believe it. Thanks God!! :)

BES Shock I can't believe that they would send it round....had you put in private stuff?

MaryBS · 26/05/2011 15:16

That sounds awful BES! Shock! Is there no-one you can complain to, to take this further, as that is so pastorally crass I am Angry

Good news MHD, :)

DutchOma · 26/05/2011 16:22

MHD that is indeed a very quick answer to prayer, God is good. Have a wonderful week.
BES what are they like? Words fail me.
Praying for SES from the other thread for a God-outcome to her threatened miscarriage.

OP posts:
blackeyedsusan · 26/05/2011 18:01

not send it round, just to one person at church... did include a swear word though (pissed off)... thats what you get when you send emails late at night. they have sent notes to the church and hope they will be made available, however, it would have been nice to have had them on the day when i asked... oh and sorry for the not clear post... fuzzy cold brain.. Blush Thank God for paracetamol....

yay madhair... pleading worked then... Smile so pleased for you...you sounded so fed up... weyhey..

mils prognosis is now known to the family.. (not just to sil and me) on average the cancer comes back after 2.5-3 years... 4% survival rate at 5 years... we don't particularly get on polite and meet on neutral territory, but still wouldn't wish it on anyone...

newlark · 26/05/2011 21:15

I've not posted here for a long time - I'm really struggling with knowing how to pray for a friend of dh's who has advanced cancer. He's due a scan soon to see if chemo has made any difference and whether they will try to operate or just let it take its course. He and his wife have a little girl about to start school; I don't think he is a christian. I don't know what to pray for and have lost faith a bit that it will make any difference :(

blackeyedsusan · 26/05/2011 23:01

it does make difference.. how we don't know

MaryBS · 26/05/2011 23:19

Prayers newlark. I guess a lot of faith is based on trust, whether you trust God to do the right thing or not. Sometimes its easy, other times its incredibly difficult, we all find it hard. Thats why this place is great because even when we can't pray, there are people here who can pray for us. If you can't find the words to say, then just tell God that, its what I do. I say something like "lord, you know what is in my heart without me having to say it. You know what it is I am asking of you. Give me faith to trust you. Lord I trust, help my mistrust". Or if you can't even say that, then just a "HELP" is enough.

Please pray for a lady at our church. Don't want to say too much to breach confidentiality, but she could really do with prayer both for herself and her health, and also for her family and their considerable problems.
