the first one is nearly full.

Anyone welcome, it's basically a "what happened in church/spiritual life/anything else you want to chat about that's vaguely related (or not) to churchy stuff.

How is everyone this morning. Baroque you've been quiet, you ok?

Have the women's world day of prayer today, have done the powerpoint for it so have to go along and work it. Excited about tomorrow, going to the New Wine women's day in harrogate, taking some of my 'seekers group' friends, so slightly nervous and excited at the same time. Hope they enjoy it and get something out of it :)

Hi MHD.

Just posting in from work.
Did something really stupid yesterday which has resulted in my car being more than slightly mangled. We've lived in the same house for 10 years and yesterday I swung the car into the drive way as normal, only to discover that I had actually missed our house altogether and had swung into our neighbours.... the problem being they dont have a drive way.... they have a brick wall. I did sound really stupid saying "Who moved MY driveway?". DH not impressed to say the least Blush.

Manic day at work, after having a manic week at work and everything needs doing today!! So off I trot. Have a good day and MHD hope all goes well tomorrow.

madhairday · 04/03/2011 11:02

Ouch PA. Don't worry, we've all done things like that. I reversed into a fence at the end of my road that's always been there. But of course it was the fence's fault Grin Don't worry about it xx

lyra41 · 04/03/2011 11:03

hi PA, sorry to hear about your crash. that happened to me recently, only i bumped into a bus whilst doing a 3 point turn! Blush

having a manic day myself here too. lots of sorting and painting to do in the new loft. and stuff to cart off to the charity shop, throw out etc.

will pop on here from time to time for a bit of company and light relief. see y'all later. x

nickelbabe · 04/03/2011 11:10

sorry, lyra, siusn't mean to confuse! Graham Kendrick is an anthema to us in the traditional bent of church! Grin

Haven't seen Baroque around - but it looks like she was awake in the early hours again, so she's prob tired. :(

nickelbabe · 04/03/2011 11:10
  • "siusn't" should have been spelled "didn't" Blush
nickelbabe · 04/03/2011 11:11

blimey PA ! Shock

Hope you weren't injured. :(

lyra41 · 04/03/2011 11:12

mornin nickel. how's the bookshop today? i'm still praying for your coming family. x

nickelbabe · 04/03/2011 11:15

aw, sweet, thank you :)

bookshop's okay today, again, thankfully!
I've found my life is a lot easier since i stopped worrying about stuff and just let it happen.
it's really odd.

thanksamillion · 04/03/2011 11:23

Hello all. Just got back from DD1s Women's Day/Spring concert at kindergarten. I left the rest of the Mums eating and drinking (and I mean drinking Shock) and the kids running wild!

Probably won't be around much in the next week as we have two house guests and four English visitors in the village so lots of entertaining/showing round/translating to be done. I'll pop in when I can.

PA hope you weren't injured - cars can be fixed Smile

lyra41 · 04/03/2011 11:33

hi thandsamillion - can i call you milly for short? it's easier to type.

what is the weather like in moldovia today? and where exactly is it geographically? i hope i've remembered right and you are in moldovia. sorry if not.

what were the women drinking at the spring concert? vodka? wine? what kind of snacks? (i'm slightly food and drink obsessed).

lyra41 · 04/03/2011 11:56

i mean maldova, not moldovia. just googled it to try to redress my ignorance a little.

thanksamillion · 04/03/2011 12:00

milly is fine!

Today it's really sunny and probably about 2 degrees so the snow is starting to melt and we are wallowing in mud (no pavements/roads really). I am in Moldova by the way, and it's next to Romania here for more info!

They were drinking what looked like flavoured vodka and homemade wine (everyone has vines here - including us). The food was a traditional celebration meal so lots of plates covering the table and everyone has a spoon to dip in. So, salad of egg/ham/peas/mayo (it's nicer than it sounds!) bread with cheese and ham and some kind of sardine type fish, stuffed cabbage leaves, slices of a kind of processed luncheon meat (I'm making this sound good aren't I!), cheeses and smoked fish, pickled red peppers. Biscuits and sweets.

MaryBS · 04/03/2011 12:03

PA, thank God you're not hurt. That's the main thing! Remember when I reversed DH's car into the skip that isn't normally there? Blush

Not to mention my planting my car in a field, a few months back, writing it off!

lyra41 · 04/03/2011 12:11

milly, it all sounds very convivial. how come you didn't stick around? are the moldovian people friendly? how does the language barrier work out?

thanksamillion · 04/03/2011 12:27

I did stay for a while but I had to get the car back as DH is going off to another village where he runs a youth group. Moldovans are very friendly, really they are incredibly hospitable. We've learnt Romanian since we've been here. DH is fairly fluent and preaches in it, I'm ok and can have a good conversation but get stuck sometimes. It's hard to understand/be part of a group conversation though (which is also why I didn't stick around for too long).

thanksamillion · 04/03/2011 16:23

Have a good weekend everyone Smile

PositiveAttitude · 04/03/2011 16:36

Pride is the only part of me that is hurt, thankfully!!

Milly - great to hear about what you are up to in Moldovia. Sounds very exciting, but certainly challenging I am sure.

I am just home from work and brain seems to ahve turned to mush. I am supposed to be out tonight, when all I feel like doing is curling up on the sofa and slobbing!! Mmmmm decisions decisions!!

BaroqueAroundTheClock · 04/03/2011 18:28

Hello all - sorry lost you all, and yes, as Nickel says - have had a couple of appalling nights sleep (or lack of to be more precise) - then I got a bit stressed over a poster who hijacked an insomnia thread I started last week (thread has just been deleted- I don't take kindly to indirectly being called a racist and like Elizabeth Davies and the Nazi's!!!).

Will try and have a read/catch up later once DS's are in bed
