Hello! Thought today would be a good & apt day to start a new thread

Let's hope it is an Exciting and Blessed year of New Beginnings for us all

Here's the summary from the last thread:

katsh - Prayers for her brother who's marriage has just ended rather traumatically He and his ex are sharing their children 50:50 at the moment and will be starting court proceedings for access etc very soon. They really need your prayers.

MadHairDay - Prayers needed for her friend's DD who is currently in a very bad way with Anorexia. Her organs are shutting down & she is being tube-fed Prayers also needed for other friend's and their DS who has just had a DX of Leukemia ; and for MHD's DF who's husband has just left her This is going to be such a tough year for them, hold them all closely, Lord. Praise though for recent favourable results for MHD's recent lung capacity etc tests

TeaandCakePlease - Her DF who has had a recent DX of breast cancer (which has spread to her lymph nodes) has just had her 1st course of Chemo. She needs prayers for the hard times ahead, as do her family. Prayers also needed for her friend's DS, William who has special needs, he has just come out of hospital where he was having brain seizures every 20 mins. He is home now with special meds.

JaffaCakeAddict - Did your pregnant friend who was snowed-in have her baby safely???? ....and did your sis and family make it home for Christmas!!?

LoveBeingaDaddysGirl - Lost her father at the end of November and suffered a m/c at the beginning of Dec. Such a hard time for LBADG and her family. Hold them close, Lord.

M44 - Prayers for her poor DS whose Eczema is being terribly exacerbated by the weather at the moment

MaryBS - Her BIL has been DX with a secondary brain tumour and will now require special care at home. Prayers for him and for his wife whose health hasn't been too good recently either. These are such hard time for them both. Prayers also needed for Mary's knee which recently collapsed and is causing Mary a lot of pain and discomfort; and for Mary's DD's friend who is currently in an Eating Disorder's Clinic, she is only 11

TotallyUnheardOf - Prayers for her as she seeks to find a church to attend where she lives; and for a more positive attitude to her faith from those around her. Praise for friends who has recently had a BFP after commencing fertility treatment

CaptainCaveman - Her DH has been acquitted of misconduct at work He is now looking for another job, so prayers for success in this would be great

WisteriaWoman - Prayers for family, especially her mum as they settle her father who has Dementia into a care home.

amber - Will need an op in Jan 2011 after the results of scary tests, which she bravely undertook a couple of weeks ago. Prayers for her friend's DS who is in hospital with bad Flu - how is he doing??

Caz&Belle - Has got through her 1st Christmas since losing Belle; but still awaits results of DH's lumbar puncture and finding out what is causing his poor health.

TooBlessed - Hoping that TooBlessed got to Zimbabwe with her family and has had a wonderful time with them

gingercurl - Prayers for her friend and her DF who have been the targets of some appalling behaviour, which has meant the DS has had to move schools. Prayers for 2011 to be a much better year for them.

DutchOma - Has Bob home after a hospital and rest home stay He is doing well and making progress.

JentlyDoesIt - Really needs our prayers at this time as her DH has been taken to start a 6 year prison sentence following a guilty verdict in court just before Christmas. Jently is understandably devastated and is struggling. Uphold her during these dark times, Lord.

BoxofDelights - Posted the following: ". To cut a long and complex story short, a couple of years ago I had a miscarriage and the aftermath of this revealed various problems with (longterm) relationship and it ended. The emotional fallout also led me to confront issues of abuse in my childhood by family members (which I had been trying to cope with, put to one side and hide)which happened for many years." She has cut ties with her family and a lot of her friends as a result of difficult circumstances and is so wanting 2011 to be a year of reconciliation and renewal; and we join her in these prayers

PositiveAttitude - Is finally feeling better for the 1st time since July - Yippee!! Prayers for a continued fantastic recovery

mufti -'s old Pastor died on 28.12.2010. He will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved him. Prayers especially for his family at this time.

Last, but by no means least - Praise for the safe arrival of Saliswan's DS Thomas on 17.12.2010, weighing 7lb 8oz at 37 weeks - Hurrah!!

DS's son is now out of hospital but still very poorly, as are both of her other family members now. Eeek. Prayers for all of them continuing.

Thanks CD. I just wanted to say thankyou for this thread. I only joined a few months ago but it has become such a support to me and it's been lovely getting to know you all. Great to have the prayer summary, reading through and praying.

Good news on friends dd with anorexia - eating for herself a little now and allowed home a few more hours :)

Happy New Year, I pray that this year will bring everyone many blessings in all shapes and sizes.

As for us, me and DH have been doing a lot of talking about where we're going as a family in the next few years and what we both eventually want.

This was spurred by me ringing a childminder who would potentially take DS when I go back to work. I think it's made me think about what I want and about the reality of going back to work. It was a mit depressing and although I have to go back later this year. I think eventually I would like to stay at home with the kiddiwinkles for a bit. Our financial situation would have to change a little but it's not beyond God to be able to do at all is it.

I have ended the year counting up our blessings and being very grateful for where God has us at the moment.

I think our next thing is for a new house to move to, our little place is a bit cramped now with DS. So prayers for us to find a new place would be nice. Also prayers for us to be able to cope with my wage drop in the next few weeks would be appreciated as well. I have faith, but it's always nice to have a bit of backup as well.

TACP Yeah it was one of the first things I did after making DS a legal entity. I don't know how they expect Mums to fill in these forms after just having a baby. To be honest getting out of the house alive was bad enough.

Happy New Year everyone! Thanks CD for the new thread. I'm sorry, I should have posted before re my friend. She now has a beautiful baby and is doing great. My DS and her family also arrived in time for Christmas. Although they were several days late they didn't have to endure too much hardship as their airline kept them in a hotel in Madrid until the worst of the backlog at Heathrow had been cleared. Thanks for all your prayers.

May this year prove to be one of immense blessings for all... God bless you all, and the support you give me and those dear to me :)

So, New Year's Resolution #1 (to go to church regularly) got off to a good start. I have been to the morning Eucharist service at my nearest cathedral. I liked the style of service very much (possibly a bit too much incense, but that's for the very un-spiritual reason that it makes me cough ) but I'm not sure that it's where I'll end up going regularly, just because I'd like somewhere which feels a bit more centred on a community iykwim. But we'll see. DH said nothing (i.e. no narky comments) which is a good start. The DCs didn't want to come with me and I didn't pressure them, but I'll try to persuade them to come next week maybe (this week there was just one service, but normally there's one at 9.15, billed as a 'family' service and another at 11, so I'm hoping they might like the 9.15 one). They came with me in the US (not without a bit of moaning, but they were happy enough once we got there), but here they obviously have the get-out of dh being at home (and he won't support me in trying to persuade them to come), plus over there all their friends went to church too (they were at a Catholic school) whereas here it's just the opposite. Oh well, I'll keep at it!

The only other negative thing was that it was freezing cold. I thought that the era of freezing churches (well remembered from my youth) had passed, but it seems not. Thermals next week! Americans are much better at heating their churches it seems!

Thank you all again for your prayers. I am praying for all, but especially for you, Caz, that you find more peace in 2011.

Meant to add that New Year's Resolution #2 (to eat less rubbish, more fruit and veg, lose weight, blah blah...) didn't get off to such a good start, as I had to have coffee and Jaffa Cakes to warm up when I got in. Might have to start praying for some will-power!

Just popping on to share an encouraging nugget! DD3, who has been unwell for 2 1/2 years Asked to come to church with us today. It was the first time she had been since becoming ill and for months before that she was coming under duress and letting everyone know it!!
Thanks to God. I know it is only a small step but to stand in church with her next to me again was lovely on so many levels.

LOL, TotallyUnheardOf - Jaffa Cakes have got Orange in them, so almost like eating a couple of your 5-a-day I am trying to do that too, so let's try and be strong together Glad you went to church though - well done!! Glad DH wasn't rude either

This is a new year. Embrace it and walk forward with positivity and strength - however hard that may be. Remember, in the hard times, God will be carrying you When will you hear any more about your DH results etc honey? xxxx
