Puppy Attacked :(

She was attacked by a friends SBT. This SBT can be dog-aggressive so was shut in front garden while friend visited. SBT broke around the fence, where fence meets hedge straight in back door and attacked sleeping puppy in basket. She's only 13 weeks old.

Got there in seconds but damage was done. Fingers crossed for her please . Second trip to vet tomorrow to check for muscle damage and progress, currently in near shock with serious wounds to leg.

Future of SBT uncertain.

If it comes to it, it will be one less at the front.

Her broken leg's immobile at the moment and the issues I've noticed so far are that she can't hold anything to chew with her leg heavily bandaged so I'm wondering how she'd manage without (on the positive, she's feeling up to a chew now and then!) but she's somehow managing to balance better than she was, so no nasty falls today.
Getting up and down is hard for her because she has to go down with a bump unless I'm there, which jars everything

Thanks for sharing, he looks happy! Their capacity for adjustment is quite awe inspiring isn't it?

We had a 20 minute session over her pills this morning. She doesn't fight, scratch, snap, gag or growl but I've never known a canine able to refuse to swallow for so long, despite throat rubbing

I took small chunks of cheddar cheese and microwaved them for about 10 secs so it goes a bit like melted pizza cheese. I gave one empty chunk to Patch which slipped down nicely, then I gave another chunk with the pill hidden inside, and afterwards another empty chunk as a reward. It made pill giving much easier, because warm cheese slips down the throat. Hiding pills in food did not work for my dog, but this did.

Pills hidden in warm sausage works for my dog.

How awful for you, really hope your pup continues to recover.

I do think your friend needs to have her dog muzzled when out the house and also look into some sort of dog socialisation/training classes.

bedlam - your boy is gorgeous. What a fab clip - did I see him cocking his missing leg against the bush? Awesome

Eco - hope pup's more comfortable. You can buy a pill crusher from your vets if it helps - turns the pills into a powder so easy to hide in food. All the best.

So sorry to read what has happened to your puppy Eco. Hope she continues to improve.

Pills hidden in hot dog sausage works for us - its really squidgy, so easy to hide, slips down their throat quickly and stinks so they can't smell the tablet!
