Poppy, you may feel got at, but I'm sorry to say that the posters above are right, the free ads is not the answer.
Put her on the free ads and you have no idea what home she'll be going to. A small, Pom X bitch, unneutered, is a puppy farmers dream. How will you know that the nice lady who visits you and coos over her, telling you with a tear or ten that she has just lost her darling Pom after 15 happy years won't lock her in an outside kennel and breed her every 6 months til she is too old and ill and then dump her in the street, have her PTS or put her in a pound (where she may well be PTS)? If she's advertised as free to a good home there's even more chance of this - people tend to think more and take more care of anything, living or inanimate, that they pay for.
This isn't a scare story, these things DO happen - I see it in my work in rescue. A good rescue however will vaccinate and spay her and check the new owner in their home, offer lifetime support and match the dog to the owner and will NEVER PTS a dog unless she is suffering beyond help.
I have one such rescue in mind, which takes smaller dogs in particular. If you'd like to email me at [email protected] (it comes up as a male name, I use it in order to post on forums as I don't want spam going to my normal email addy, but I AM a mum, honest!), I'll give you all the info you'll need to check me out so you know I am who and what I say I am, give you my phone number and will, with your permission, put you in touch with or approach that rescue on your behalf and failing that find others for you.
Please believe me that advertising your pup on free ads is a very dangerous idea. It MAY work out ok, but it may not and the results could be heartbreaking.
I know I'm stroppy and outspoken but I don't bite (ask the lady on here for whom I found a home for her Lab X Rottie pup recently!). I work for the dog, not any organisation or individual and my aim is purely to see them safe and loved.
Hope this helps.
